wuzzzer
http://oppodigital.com/dv981hd/dv981hd_support.html Just posted on June 5th. One change I like is that if you choose to turn off or dim the lights on the front panel, it will stay that way even if you turn the power off and back on again. cyclonecj
I never noticed that before... That beta has been there since I bought mine.... Look at the version numbers. I think that the date is a typo. EDIT: I just sent them an email to confirm the date. I will post the reply when I get one.

colterphoto1
Don't buy Yamaha, their remotes are horrid. Nearly no fast or slow motion without going through menus.

erickoegle
I was reading on avsforums and they were saying that since the oppo 981 has DCDi, it is not compatable with 20% of todays plasmas due to macroblocking. I just purchased a Panasonic 50" Plasma TH-50PX600U. So I quess this 981 would not be a good option for me? I have about 700 SD movies and would like to have a decent upconvert dvd player. Any recommendations? I've been reading that the Toshiba A2 would be good upconvert plus it is an HD player. Please advise....
toadtobin
I think I remember reading the same review and could've sworn it's DLP sets that have the macroblocking problem.
