Satin Black.....Is it paint or lacuer?

I was wanting to finish a TV stand to match my speakers and possibly refinish a SW-10 DV sub that's seen better days. The stickers on all of them just says "Satin Black"...but is satin black paint or satin black laquer. Any help would be greatly appreciated

#40 sheen black lacquer. I believe Sherwin Williams is current vendor. Years ago I believe it used to be Valspar.

Ben Moore makes a semi-gloss black lacquer in a spray can that's very close.

How about Fin Black from say an Academy? What would that be stained with?

Thanks Bill, you're a life saver. I was leaning towards the laquer because of how it looked where part of the finish came off, but just didn't want to mess it up.

bhendrix is correct on SW. But..... The local SW store has refused to order anymore for me, stating that unless it's in the store's "normal" catalogue, they don't "have time for any small non-standard paint special orders". End of my business with SW.

Benjamin Moore's semi-gloss black laquer is virtually identical (laquer is laquer....) I have sprayed both and I cannot tell the difference. It too, however, is special order at my local store unless they happen to have spray cans around.
