Gilbert
The fine: $100,000,000 USD, the largest fine today in sports history. The presumed reason: Stepneygate. Ex-Formula 1 chief mechanic (Nigel Stephny) sells private technical information to an engineer at McLaren. The real reason, the politic's of Formula 1 and the might of Ferrari in Formula 1. This kind of stuff has been going on in F1 for as long as I've been following it (30yrs +). But when Ferrari is in 2nd place for the constructor's points, and the oposition (McLaren) has 1st place pretty much locked up, the pull the strings of their trained monkeys in the FIA,..... enter Max Mosely and Bernie Eccelstone. What a farce! Here's one of 100,000,000 links on the subject: http://www.daylife.com/story/00V01vc6LN8Sd/
Islander
Formula 1 is a big-bucks sport. It costs $50 million just to join the competition circuit, since they don't want any teams that will only compete for a season or two and upset the established order.
