widescreen I believe is 1280X720 which is where the 720 hdtv comes from

the 1920X1080 is where the 1080 comes from

so its most likely 7000p

Wow. So does pixels equal "lines", since 720 and 1080 in TV-speak are called "lines of resolution"?

I am not an expert but I believe so? I mean you multiply them and you get the megapixels for cameras.

1920*1080 = 2,073,600 pixels or about a 2 megapixel picture which is what the 1080p falls under

imax would be eqivalent to a 70 megapixel picture then.... which seems right.
