PhilMays
I'm too old to be asking this, but, what exactly is Red Book CD?
stormin
Yes you are.[] But since you ask. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Book_(audio_CD_standard) Just your typical 16 bit cd.

oldtimer
Well when I started you had not posted the link. Then the reply page did not download properly so I had to refresh. Such is life.
PhilMays
Hugh, for all these years I thought it was a better recorded CD, or perhaps better resolution. So whats HDCD then.
thebes
High Definition Compatable Digital. An upgraded format between redbook and SACD and DVD-A. If you bought any cd's over say the last 10 years, you've probably got a couple in your collection and don't even know it. Nice sounding, better than redbook, but I don't think they are making any new ones.
PhilMays
Your right Thebes, I do have a few in my collection, and didn't even know it. I currently have a Denon 2800 MKII that plays them. They are much fuller in sound stage, etc. I hate to hear they don't make them any more...Oh well, back to my betamax.
