K-33 recone?

Recommended Posts

Bob Crites is known as BEC on this forum. He posts plenty. He commisioned the production of K-33 replacements, there's a stamped frame version that looks like the factory model and a cast frame deluxe version. I'll bet you can have two new ones for less than the cost of the re-cones. These things are identical to the factory K-33 down to the smallest measurable details of the electric and acoutic specs.

Not to quibble, but to be accurate on Bob's K33 replacement, it is not a copy of the current K33. I don't think Eminence would sell a clone of the woofer they build for Klipsch.

Bob's replacement has lower bass extension than the current K33.

As Tom says, Bob's woofer is a superb drop in replacement.

Re-cone costs $60 each, new from Klipsch $129 each.

If you have to ship to the re-cone center add $30 a pair.

$150 pair vs $258 pair, or if you live in a larger town with a re-cone shop, $120 vs $258.

$100 is $100 (in my wallet).
