rjrbass
I am looking for a little advice and direction before I bid on a couple of items, listed on E-Bay, only 20 minutes from my residence. I know that these are Altec speakers (not Klipsch), but I am confident that some of you have experience with these drivers. The speaker package is a total of 6 items: pair of crossovers, pair of wooden horns and a pair of 15" Altec woofers in horn cabinets. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Altec-Lansing-Vintage-System-Wi-Edgar-Horns-Very-Rare_W0QQitemZ300205589864QQihZ020QQcategoryZ50597QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I know nothing about tube amps except that I should expect to spend some money on a tune up, caps etc. The listed tube amplifier is a Motorola El84 6bq5. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Motorola-El84-6bq5-Tube-amplifier-very-clean_W0QQitemZ300205598807QQihZ020QQcategoryZ50593QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Appreciate any comments, Richard
capo72
Boy, I sure would like to hear that Altec/Edgar horn set-up. It looks pretty slick! Jeremy
Marvel
Look like an Altec 816 cabinet. Here is one done in oak:
seti
The seller's comment about the Motorola amp is telling, if nothing else: "This amp puts the junky heathkits and dynacos to shame." Take close look at his picture of the Motorola. I'm checking out the pics but I am obviously missing something. What is up with it Mark?
