Islander
My turntable came with a blue PlatterMatter and I'm pleased with it. It's quite thick, but not tacky. Adding a Michell record clamp improved the sound, but I had to get the Rega version, since the thick mat left less spindle protruding than usual. The Technics turntable has adjustable VTA, so it was easy to adjust for the extra thickness.
oldtimer
Michael, Just leave your mats alone. Mats are the least of your problems. I tried a $100 sorbothene (sp?) mat on my old VPI TT and returned it after it peeled part of the label off of one of my original Duke Pearson Blue Notes. They are very tacky. Just to rub salt in the wound, I couldn't tell the difference between it and the $2 felt mat that came with the table. That table was a POS anyway. LOL! Beautiful post gary!
