thecutter
I was looking to get more power. I was looking to get a 200wpc amplifier. I would use my 7.1 channel Onkyo and was considering either the Emotiva or Outlaw amp.
oldtimer
If the onkyo has pre-outs then you should be good to go.
jamesV
If this is the model, http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=TX-SR705&class=Receiver&p=i, then like OT said yes you can. On the back it has the "Pre-Out" and all you need is the RCA cable to connect to the Emotiva or Outlaw. Good luck. James
thecutter
Will the amplifier add anything to my system or am I better off getting a new Pioneer or Denon with 140wpc?
willland
Yes to the first part of question. No to the second part unless you need more bells and whistles than the 705 provides. Everything is relative. Spend more money on a receiver you get better amps, power supply, more b's & w's. The 705 provides a lot of bang for the buck. I personally came to the same crossroad and decided to buy a used B&K reference 4430 3 channel amp(200w). All I wanted and needed was more "clean" power to run my RF-63's and RC-62 and I got it for only $195.00. If you are happy with the 705(I love mine) then look on www.audiogon.com to find many quality amps for a fraction of what you would pay for a better quality receiver. Remember with an additional amp you will need more shelf space. Bill
