wilbucd
I have KG4's for front and rear speakers. Which Klipsch center speaker, old or new, would best match up with the KG4's? Thanks,

RichardP
What the others have said is true, because you want the center to be timbre-matched to the mains. That is usually accomplished by using a center with the same tweeter and/or midrange. The KG-4 is a two way, with a K-74 tweeter in a 90x60 exponential horn. I did not see any other speaker with that combination (KG-2 and KG-3 don't use the same one), but you could search more (from the Klipsch homepage, under "speakers", under "discontinued models"). If you have room, even if it must lie in a horizontal position, another KG-4 would be perfect. They are frequently sold on Ebay, usually for $200-$300/pr. You could use the second one of a pair for a rear center if your receiver and room can accommodate. I don't know how it would actually sound, but the Academy has a K-76/90x60 high freq horn arrangement which seems to be close (in model #s, at least) to the KG-4 combo. However, they are rare and expensive ($350-$500). Surely there are other posters here who have tried various centers who could comment. wuzzzer
Not sure why but there seems to be several pairs of KG4s for sale on my local craigslist (Minneapolis, MN). I've seen them on there for $175-250. You could use the one and sell the other on eBay/craigslist/etc.

dougdrake
At one time, in the old days of the Klipsch web site, there was a table which showed suitable center speakers for various older models. I believe the KV-3 was listed for the KG-4. At any rate, I have used a KV-3 with my KG-4s and I thought it worked out great.
chrisinvermont
I use a KG2.2v and it sounds great. I have varied the setup as time goes on but the KG4s, KG1s, KG.5, and the KG2.2v all sound good together in any combination. If you have the space, try another 4 as other have suggested. MusicMovie
Know this is an old post, but it keeps coming up in searches and I’m sure folks are still loving their KG4s for any application. I’m going to be testing out a KV-3 for the center, which will also get the Crites tweeter upgrade to match the L/Rs. The RC-3 might work as well, and I think the KG 2.2/2.5s would be excellent on the side as a center as well. My dream setup would be a 5-channel KG4 setup, my expensive dream setup would be Crites CornScala’s up front in LCR and their “2” or “3” for surround support.
