analogkid
I own a fine pair of 1983 Cornwalls, and am interested in getting the dimensions for the risers that are used on the later Cornwal II/III models.
HudsonValleyNoah
The Cornwall and the Cornwall II had the same dimension risers (I have both and I will go and measure to verify this... OK, both are 14.5" by 23.5 by 2" high. At least, thats what my Cornwalls have... Noah
analogkid
Awesome and thank you! I'll post picks when I get them made.
analogkid
Alrighty, I found that my local Home Depot carries 2' X 4' sheets of 3/4" birch plywood, which was PERFECT for me since my Cornwalls were originally Raw Birch. The 20-something year old that helped me was awesome, used their fancy saw to cut me 8 2" strips so all I had to do was mitre cut them to size and nail them together. I'm still deciding how to attach them, I'm thinking two metal brackets on each will be fine.
HudsonValleyNoah
It's good to hear of your progress...
Groomlakearea51
Another happy DIY'er!!! If you have birch left over, you can cut a custom pair, get a router and "ogive" them, and all that other neat stuff!! The list of fun DIY things to do on risers, etc is endless. Even make your own subwoofer box and get a plate amp and a subwoofer from partsexpress.
analogkid
Ok I got them built and on - I took no pictures during the build process, which I will on the next project. I learned much of what NOT to do, but they turned out decent anyway [:$]
Moderators dtel Posted November 12, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 12, 2008 Looks original, good job, I have seen a pair of Heresy's that was tilted back a little with slanted risers.
jamesV
Great looking job.... [Y] I have seen a pair of Heresy's that was tilted back a little with slanted risers Dtel, I believe the slanted risers help put the mid at ear level, no need for that with the Cornwalls. I could be wrong... [*-)] James
Moderators dtel Posted November 12, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 12, 2008 Probably correct on that, makes sense ! [Y]
hammertop
Looks real good. I have become fond of the folded hand towel under the fronts to slighty raise them. Seems to define the sweet spot in different room areas and or placements. So many litte tweaks make a large difference. Enjoy!
analogkid
They do seem to sound a little better - cleaner and more distinct bass is what I am noticing most.
