  1. Here are some photos from my humble setup. I really enjoy the Reference series. I have it dialed-in just the way I like it. Thanks Klipsch! 21.zip
  2. Great, great system! You will love that Sony TV! Glad you decided on the Ref 7's too. Hey I'd be interested to know how you like that Sony amp too. Give us a review on your new system once you have a chance to give it the once over. This is exciting. It's almost like getting your own stuff! WOOHOOOOOOOOOO!
  3. This affair would be much better portrayed with some scandalous pics!
  4. Michael Moore is a big fat loser nerd. So are politics in general, but I know this thread will evolve into a huge donkey/elephant battle. Let the games begin!
  5. I highly recommend the RSW-15. This subwoofer is nothing short of astounding. I have a fairly large room and forget filling that room this sucker moves the whole house. The force with which it hits frequencies, especially below 50HZ is amazing. I've never heard a subwoofer hit those frequencies. I think it would be cool to keep your setup in the Klipsch Reference line too. The SVS subs are pretty popular here in the forum too, but as always it just comes down to your tastes. If there is anyway to hear both of them, preferably from a friend or acquantance, because the demo stuff at the stores generally sucks, do that. Let us know how it goes and what you end up deciding...
  6. Gotta agree with Darren on that one. Try the sides toed-in to the sweet spot. But experiment and decide what you like best and maybe you can let us know what you finalized on ...
  7. Well I gave in and went to see Shrek2 today. Wasn't an awful experience though. The theater wasn't too crowded and the floor was actually clean. Despite a few burned out lights along the walls and floor, some of the floor lights were broken and had wires exposed, it was a pretty good screening. The audio wasn't spectacular even though it claimed to be THX certified. Was nice seeing the big screen again. I think what made the experience so great was the movie first of all, and seeing my 3 year old daughter go crazy over how big Shrek was. Suffice it to say I will enjoy it more thoroughly when it comes out on DVD and I can really hear it. By the way the animation in this new movie is phenomenal. Loved it.
  8. Crap you're right. I remember seeing Saving Private Ryan the first time in the theater. I had no idea what the movie was going to be like, just knew it was about some fictional tale tied into WWII. So from the first few min of the movie when they storm the beach in Normandy I swear my mouth just hung open for the next 2 hours. The sound in that theater for that movie was pretty killer and Spielberg's film style was unprecedented at the time. Thanks for helping me remember that experience. I think the concensus to this post is that the movie theater is still enough for us all to go to for reasons of nostalgia or just to plain get out of the dang house!
  9. I agree with the AVMAN. Concerts used to be so exciting, but now usually a disappointment. After paying the high price of tickets, it's usually at least a 40 min drive to the nearest venue and then you're fighting people and smoke and shiz. Then when you get home your too damn tired and you can't relive the experience again and again like you can with a dvd.
  10. I agree with Taurus. Seems like I've heard about length of DVI being a factor. I did my own little test with my HD tv here. First ran component from my HD tuner and then tried DVI. I couldn't tell a difference. I kept the DVI cable though, psychologically it just seemed better to be running it.
  11. Just wondering if any of you guys are feeling like I do about the local theaters. Why the hell would anyone want to go sit in one of these places after experiencing your very own home theater is beyond me. I can't remember the last time I went to the theater and said, "Wow that was great sound ..." or "I really loved the comfy seats ..." The last movie I saw was Return of the King last winter and I only endured through the theater because I wanted to see the end of the trilogy. I hated it though. The sticky floor, the overpriced tickets, the lame sound, and the freakin idiots who kept talking through the whole movie and then clap at the end ... GAWL I HATE THAT! So anyway ... anyone else need to vent? or have comments about how lame theaters have become?
  12. Being an RSW-15 owner and having never heard an SVS sub it's hard to compare, but I honestly can't imagine having more bass than what comes out of those reference series subs. They are incredible. For my personal taste, any more bass than what a single RSW can put out is just overkill, but that is dependant upon room size of course. Some bass-heads will probably disagree, but I have to draw the line, I think I've lossed a little bit of my hearing due to this sub. You really have to dial the gain down on these babies. So SVS owners ... what is the consensus? Are SVS subs really that much better? Are they more musical than the RSW's? Or do they just move more air? Be curious to hear one someday ...
  13. Truthfully, I've never heard a complete Heritage HT system. The closest thing would be the Legend series and from what you guys say here in the forums, they don't really quite match the true Heritage sound. I've been completely impressed with the Reference series. Obviously why I chose that route. Just wish there was someone locally with a Heritage system to feel what all the vibe is about. For my two cents, I would assume that you are going to be a very happy man going with any line of Klipsch. Let us know what you decide on ...
  14. Good idea. I'm going to break open the manual and do some testing tonight to see if I can get to some resolution about the LFE setting. I wish the tech writers over at Denon could write a better manual. Anyone else have any gripes about the way their manuals are put together? They seemed hard to understand in the way they were written. Maybe that's why we're all confused about their LFE + Main feature ...
  15. Dude ... positively, absolutely cannot even say you have a home theater without having a center channel. That is your work-horse speaker. Get that on your have-to-have list. Secondly, you have to get your DD/DTS going on your system. Get yourself a digital coax or optical cable so you can REALLY enjoy that pod racing scene. Sounds like that HK would really crank! You need to get the right accessories to let her really stretch her legs though ... Let us know how your system evolves ...
  16. I'm jealous. How do you like the new remote? Does the new interface on the front of the amp seem pretty nice? Give us the details ...
  17. Sounds like we all need to do some more research ... logically it seems like an LFE channel would be reserved only for 5.1 encoded soundtracks. I've got to experiment, this has piqued my curiosity.
  18. I have the 3802 and I used to have KLF-30's and ran the LFE + Main with those and though had plenty of bass didn't like the LFE channel going through my fronts. Use your subwoofer for what it's built for, direct LFE signal. Especially with that killer SVS sub your getting. Let your fronts just handle their dynamic range and leave the LFE to your sub. I realized this after my RSW-15 purchase. But, as always, it's up to your ears ... experiment and get back to us on what you like!
  19. Is there an Ultimate Electronics store near you? I purchased mine through them, they're an authorized Klipsch dealer, and was able to get them for 1400 plus tax. They were delivered flawlessly and have absolutely no blemishes whatsoever. Just my 2 cents involving my RF-7 purchase.
  20. Yes you're definitely right, the reference series setup is killer, I'm quite satisfied ... for now. I'm having thoughts of Rotel separates with Heritage speakers though. That's got to be absolutely crazy sound. Maybe those with that type of setup can describe the power.
  21. Ok so speaking of the bigger is better idea, what you're really saying is that it's time for Heritage series right? What could be better than a beautiful pair of Klipschorns for the corners of the room ... Ahh, the hunt continues.
  22. Congrats on the RSW-15, you'll absolutely love this sub. I've never heard a sub hit frequencies so low with such force. Definitely a fine finish to your reference series HT. SWEET!
  23. Well it's easy to get confused. Chicks and speakers make a good combo. Too bad the chicks don't dig it like we do though.
