  1. Did a searck, nothing there; I am looking at replacing the caps on my Kg4s which I have owned from day 1 (1985). A google search revealed a lot of info that the caps are pretty easy to replace, and to buy them at partsexpress. However, it is not specified as to which ones, other than Solen are suggested. I know I can also get entirely new crossovers from Bob Crites for $200, but if I can 90% of the performace of a new Crossover from buying $25-30 worth of new caps, I will go that route. Which specific caps do I need to get? PS I already bought and installed new diaphragms from Crites.....
  2. Thanks Youthman! I did scroll to the right and clicked on "save", it would upload for a bit, then stop and error out. The plaques have thin 2 way stickytape on them, but I do not have them taped to the speaker yet. I am thinking of geting some glass tops for them, and have the glass etched too. How does one place the glass tops on the speakers, just use some rubber cabinet door bumpers?
  3. Ive spent the last 20 minutes trying to upload a photo. Next to impossible...... I have hi speed DSL and a intel i7 superfast computer. The problem aint on my end
  4. I thought Bourne Legacy was good, but Im not a big Ed Norton fan, and he looks too young to be a retired Colnel....
  5. I will try later today, but this site is not easy to post photos.....
  6. I have an Outlaw amp, the 7700 (200 WPC) and love it. HUGE difference as opposed to running off the amps from an AVR. They are seldom available used, but even lower wattage Outlaw amps are reasonably priced. And OUTSTANDING customer service!
  7. I just got my custm made Klipsch "made for" plaques for my RF7s. Where are others placing these on the speakers?
  8. I am using the CDT-5800C speakers for my rear surround. They are back about 8 feet behind the couch and about 5 feet apart. I like them, but I never listened to anything else prior to puting them in. I dont think you will be dissapointed. Could you do "better"? Perhaps, but we have to make things work. I would have liked to used another set of RS7s, but physically it was not an oprion.
  9. Yup, that will work just fine!
  10. I contacted Mr. Crites looking for a set, and he notified me in a week or two when they came in. I paid for a set and they were sent out right away. He was very quick with responses to the few questions I have and the install took about 15 minutes. Quite happy with the sound, not night and day differences, but very nice sounding. Thank you Mr. Crites! []
  11. There is an "Emotiva" amp for sale by another forum member in the garage sale section. I have no association nor experience to the seller.
  12. Using K-Horns as rears is a STRICT violation of Klipsch code 6 subdivion 9; Klipschorns shall NOT be used as rears unless they are also being used fronts. There are NO exceptions. Any violations, the above mentioned Klipschorns shall immediately be shipped to "dachuckster", overnight of course" []
  13. Notfamiliar at all with the 5650, but I am sure you will be happy with getting the bigger set (5800). When I was looking for rear surrounds for my RF-7, RC-7 and RS-7s, the CDT 5800 is what was recommended to me. I cant imaging TOO much difference with the Reference II line. I am sure you will like the 5800s!
  14. Greg, I have heard of this method before for a sub, but not for mains. I am going to try moving the mains farther apart and moving the sub closer to the TV, and moving the couch closer to the TV and see if that helps. I just have not had the time yet.
  15. I have the CDT-5800-C in my system as rear surrounds, mostly because of design like you. They work perfect for me. There is not much in rear surrounds anyway but I wanted a match for the rest of my speakers and these fit the bill. Sadly, when placing the grilles into the speakers, one folded and now I have a crease in one of them. I have bene searching for a grill ever since. Klipsch does not sell the grill by itself. I think you will enjoy the speaker!
  16. Thanks Russ. The speakers are already out about 14" - 16" from the rear wall, and they are toed in towards the main listening area. These photos are a year or so old, but generally speaking this is how it is right now. How close to the side walls can I go? Should I leave just a few inches? Thanks everyone! I will be toying with this soon, as I have to figure a way to extend the speaker wires to accomodate moving the speakers wider.
  17. Now its working; Note where the rear surrounds are in the cieling. There are no grilles on them.
  18. I have tried over and over to post photos (yes, I read the simple instructions on top) but it aint working....
  19. I hear ya! If I had my way the room wouldve been twice as big! Honestly, until I hear otherwise, movies sound terrific as is. Its the 2 channel music that I wish sounded better. I am going to move the sub closer to the side wall (keeping it almost a foot in front of the rear wall still) and move the RF7s a little more apart and see if that helps. I am also going to try defeating the Audessy EQ and manually adjust the speaker settings. I know running the Audessy really turns down the volume settings on all speakers because of the low impedence. As soon as I can pick up all the stuff in the family room (Xmas decorations, boxes, etc) I will take a photo. My system is in the thread "Lets see your home theater" on around page 60 or so. I have a new TV and Sub but its all basically the same.
  20. Thanks Wuzzer! Send me a PM so we can touch base. I am in the northern Metro area. Anyone have suggestions on how to extend my speaker wires? I may need to add some length to what I have.
  21. Bill, I have considered doing that, but the biggest obstacle to doing that is the length of my speaker wires. They are in the wall and come out of the wall directly behind the speaker. If I move the speakers out wider, I would need to extend the wires to accomodate that. The speaker wires are a straight shot from the rear of he amp to the speaker. I thought I may be able to cut them shorter and connect them to a banana plug wall plate, but the cable are so darn thick I dont know how easy that would be. I could then make a 6 foot run from the wall plate to the speaker I suppose. Should I move the sub closer to the TV, basically swapping the right speaker and the sub? Movies sound great right now. Would I get better sound in movies if I move the speakers farther out? Perhaps. Funny, but the other night I was demoing my setup to my folks, playing SNL from about a year ago when Paul McCartney was on. My mom commented on the bass drum (subwoofer) and I replied that the only thing better than a nice loud sub was two of them. My wife opened her eyes and said "WHERE IS IT?! I told her I had not bought a second sub. Yet Should I also move the couch maybe a little bit closer? Also, I really have no interest in swapping cables or power cords. But I was asked about it so I responded back regarding what I had for cables.
  22. Here are some fairly accurate mesurements; From the couch to the front wall is about 19 feet. the front wall is about 12 feet wide. The rear surrounds are about 8 feet behind the couch. Right now the main RF7 speakers are about 7 feet apart from the middle of the speaker to the middle of the speaker. The sub is in the right corner. Cables; XLR from Onkyo pre to the amp. Monster (good, thick) speaker wires going to all speakers. I have run the Audessy (not v32) on the Onkyo, and it helped a little. There is good thick carpeting on the floor. The little room on the right is a small bar area with a poker/card table and chairs and it measures about 10x10 and it has laminated wood flooring. The rear wall behind the couch has a fireplace and stone on the wall. I am trying to post a sketch of the room. It is a pdf file and it looks like it loaded, sorry for the poor quality. The living room is very basic, about 12x12, with one side of the room open (on the left as sitting on the couch and TV in front) to the kitchen, and carpeted floors. IMG.pdf
  23. Check out my signature below to see the gear I have in my Theatre room; I have posted a similiar question before, but I am still not having much luck getting 2 channel music in my Onkyo & RF7s to sound as well as my living room system with Kg4s. It is hard to describe why I am not happy with the sound from my RF7s. I just dont think its sounds anywhere near as good. "Hollow" comes to mind to describe the RF7s. It could be the rooms accoustics as well. I will try to post some pictures later today as well as room dimensions, etc....
