  1. As it turns out Repulsion was #249 in my Netflix queue, I'll move it on up.
  2. Those who follow my work (http://www.klipschcorner.com/BlogDetail.aspx?guid=49d2af0f-fbea-425d-8840-b44d3b632e56) know that I've been a vocal fan of the Palladium series since the beginning. I've recently decided that my kids don't really need to go to college; I've ordered up the Palladium P-39F in the Merlot finish and I was told to expect delivery "mid May". I will only have the Front L/R until the center is available in June, and the rest of the system will have to wait till next year for me, these ain't cheap. I expect it will be quite a long time before these are commonly available to listen to around the country, so in keeping with my Demo Network philosophy (http://www.klipschcorner.com/DemoNetwork.aspx) I'm inviting Klipschers over to my place to hear the P-39F at the end of May. This should be taken as Tenative since ship dates are not in stone, but I am thinking either May 31st (Saturday) or June 1st (Sunday). I realize my Aragon, Denon, and Integra gear may not be considered Up to Snuff by the solid state and digital hating crowd. So, while you people are nutjobs, I'm willing to go a step furthur: I'll clean up my racks (I've got space: http://www.klipschcorner.com/Image.aspx?path=images/Profiles/Profile1_3.jpg) and encourage anyone who's interested in coming to bring any tube amps, pre-amps, or transports that might be interesting to audition the P-39F on. If ole Boomac is around I'll try to get him to bring some of his NOS/BAT gear regardless. {Edit: I would really like to record a podcast out of this, nothing formal just people talking about what they thought} I plan on cross-posting this, but I'll be checking the thread in 2ch most often.

  4. Just saw this one, a classic. Incredibly creepy. Roman Polanski is a nutjob.
  5. Yeah, details are here: http://www.damonpayne.com/2008/04/27/EthanIsHere.aspx
  6. He was born on Friday the 25th. His name is Ethan Connor Payne.
  7. For my wife: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=307113&CategoryID=30346&LinkType=SiteAd&LinkLoc=25300&AdID=45974 or http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=314560&CategoryID=30346&LinkType=SiteAd&LinkLoc=25300&AdID=45974 I've caught her looking at these two. Which would you appreciate more if you just had my 2nd child and it was your birthday?
  8. Thank you all! Whoever made the college comment: I started sticking back $$ for our daughter the week she was born and I'll be setting up an account for this guy soon. I'm sure it's not enough to actually pay for college when the time comes but it's better than nothing. Now to get some sleep.
  9. Check out the future operator of KlipschCorner.com! Unfortunately he got more of my looks than his mom's.
  10. Without having some here to taste, the some of those Hannah/Bismark look to be right up my alley. I'm going to try to take advantage of our newly minted shipping laws to try some.

    Bioshock

So I'm 30 minutes into Bioshock. DAMN, what a cool single player experience. I played this in the dark on my 1080p montior, VERY cool. Good sound through my promedia ultras too.
  12. I just picked this up for $29 new at Game Stop, couldn't resist!
  13. The only Vista issue I've had is related to funky 64bit items. I'm buiding my own computers, and therefore not a causal user. For many people it seems avoiding Microsoft is the first and most important thing in their technological lives.
  14. The Architectural forum is typically where this kind of talk has resided in the past.
  15. I've been into wine for about 7 years, but only since christmas '07 have I been actually trying to collect any. I'm not into tasting wine and spitting it out nor am I one of those people who insist anything costing less than $X is undrinkable. I currently really ONLY know French wines, mostly because a) they're generally very good, I speak French and c) the French have a classification system (AOC) that help me have some idea of what I'm getting when I buy something I haven't tried before. In the past I've found I don't like most of the California red wines that are popular. They always seem to be insanely spicy and Oak tasting. Of late I've formed a dialog with a couple of local wine store owners and have found that there is a lot of good red wine being made out there. It seems odd that I can buy an insanely good chateauneuf-du-pap (from a vinyard that's been doing this for 200 years, shipped overseas, with the euro being way up against the dollar) for less than these Orin Swift wines, but whatever the market will support I suppose. Anyone have good California wine recommendations? Wisconsin law has JUST changed such that I can get things shipped to me from winyards.
  16. I watched this with my wife last night while drinking some Vampire wine. The picture on blu-ray is very good and it has a very creep and appropriate Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. I give the movie itself 4 stars, but I love vampire movies so take that with a star's worth of salt. This movie has a great original premise: vampire movies in the survival-horror genre often focus on the need for the protagonists to make it until dawn. This movie takes place in Barrow, Alaska, during the period of the year where the sun will not rise for a month, so the survival becomes a bigger problem. Great movie, great vampires.
  17. Atonement, Lucky Number Slevin, Silent Running
  18. I watched part of "Sunshine" in DTSHDMA and all of "Predator" with dts-hd last night. Very very nice. Better than the 1.5mb/s "core" audio stream for sure!
  19. Hard to believe how old this movie is now, but I picked up predator on blu-ray & watched it last night. It's not the best high-def transfer, being very grainy and such, and the special features are basically nonexistant, but it has a loud and well mixed DTS-HDMA soundtrack. Where else can you see two future state governors carrying guns around the jungle?
  20. I would advise that you practice drinking beer, so you're not hungover Saturday morning.
  21. I shall book at Comfort Inn as well. I shall bring beer and wine.
  22. http://www.klipschcorner.com/BlogDetail.aspx?guid=b4f20c2d-b6a8-40c0-a54c-75f54f6c52b6 Go Blue Jeans!
  23. Of course, sir! I would plan mainly on taking pictures of home theaters and speakers inside, pictures of my food inside, some pictures of grilled food outside, and pictures of my kids inside and out. None of these things are likely to be very far away of course. Does this help give you an idea of what I'm looking to do? Seems folks are a little Nikon leaning. Michael, need any computer junk done? Maybe I can trade for photography lessons...
