Indy Fest 2009
damonrpayne replied to IndyKlipschFan's topic in Forum Meetup Planning + Past Klipsch Pilgrimages
Indy, you should send me the full sized photo of your new avatar, since I am in it. -
Will the palladium micro-site be kept up to date with authorized dealers?
-
I may have (gulp) lost mine. It was a chamber piece if I recall. I shall scour the earth for it.

This one looks interesting too, but I'm thinking that the longest column, 7 1/2" deep is wider than anything I personally have seen on a wall or ceiling. http://www.pmerecords.com/Diffusor.cfm Products like this ( http://www.silentsource.com/diffusors-rpg-hemiffusor.html ) are 4" deep.

Here's one in the style of the RPG skyline. I'm somewhat suspicious since the specific material is not mentioned, and I should think that difinately matters http://www.bobgolds.com/DifuserKgveteran/home.htm

DrWho & Others at some point have mentioned that these are easy to make and make them look nice. Having blown out my 2008 budget on certain other purchases I'm now willing to take a look at this. Anyone have links to plans/articles?

Artto: I will post the formulas here this weekend, but, what I'm doing is: 1) calculate axial, tangential, and oblique modes based on room dimensions 2) applying a relative mode strength where multiple modes stack at a given frequency (ie an axial and tangential at 23hz) 3) Remove duplicates (squre rooms, etc)
-
Ooh, I should add calculated room volume. I would add recommended ratios but I haven't found the means of calculating that.

The changes are happening this weekend when I can take the site down and not ruffle too many people. Good feedback! -The new tool allows decimal #s. -Do you guys think I should keep the "tabular" version, or is the graphical representation what people really use? I assume the graphical one since mode distribution is of interest

PALLADIUM UNBOXING
damonrpayne replied to travis-g's topic in Forum Meetup Planning + Past Klipsch Pilgrimages
Travis, Would you be interested in providing a review which I could then immortalize on KlipschCorner.com ? -
So, this weekend I'm getting ready to make a bunch of changes to KlipschCorner.com. Among them is that every system profile will have this saucy image carousel link to display your images in a rotating carousel with some reflections and such. I think it looks cool anyway and if someone asked me what my setup looked like, I'd send them here.

By the way, that's my room. Strong modes at 23hz, but look at the lovely even mode distribution.

So, this weekend I am making a whole bunch of changes to KlipschCorner.com. One of them is this saucy looking new animated Room Mode Calculator. Nicer looking, but same functionality, as its markup-based predecessor:

I'm jealous too. I plan on eventually using those for my 7.1/rear surrounds -

Audioholics is just about my favorite Audio & HT website (besides KlipschCorner and these here forums). This whole thing is amusing, but for sure read the last paragraph: http://www.audioholics.com/news/editorials/NSQ-2-speakers

This weekend I put up some trim work that was two years overdue and tried some photography again. By taking tons of pics on different settings and also tweakng the RAW I got this one which looks OK. There's a bit of barrel distortion, I assume I'm shooting too wide or something.

The sub is level-matched to the rest of the speakers and I don't watch movies at insane volumes!
-
This would be an advanced technique for me at this stage, but I'll read up on this in the manual and try it this weekend!
-
My sub is about 25' away from the popcorn machine, it definately does not rattle. Maybe this means I need a better sub?
-
Learning to use my new camera, (Canon Rebel XTi) I got a tripod made huge improvements in several areas but not happy with how the low-light stuff is turning out yet. Going to have to drag some lamps down there and experiment. Here's a shot of the back with my popcorn machine.

Mr. Hendrix: The room looks really fantastic: great gear, great room, good photos to show it off. You have PM.
