I have a saggy diaper that leaks -
don't be a wuss, build your own preamp, don't buy an overpriced "audiophile" preamps that don't sound nearly as good. MM

I would agree not to mod the khorn with that tweeter, later this week I will post some picts of my different EV tweeters, a poster djk that posts here has a great deal of information on EV and other speakers. I just really like almost all ev stuff that I have ever come across. Shane

There are more than one st350 tweater, I believe, the older type, alnico magnet from the frount look like st(?) 35 or k77 but with larger magnet, and superior sound, and the st350a which uses a mud magnet and still sounds pretty good and I believe more efficient to the k77. I use both the k77 in my cornwalls and klipschorns, and the st350a in a diy horn speaker and the st350a tweets really shine. IMHO Shane If they are the older larger 350 they may be well worth the price.

I think think uncle ned means the pin layout of the tube, base. But I have been wrong many times Shane

how to remove veneer from cornwalls ?
molecularman replied to molecularman's topic in Technical/Restorations
Thanks for all the input, this is the same advice that a friend gave me, I will remove that veneer which is falling off, fill voids with wood filler, sand and reveneer. Shane -
Hi, I recently received a pair of cornwalls, one has a badly damaged top veneer, and the other has some damage, so I thought that maybe I should redo the tops on both speakers. How can these be safely removed? The finish is oak and they are from 1985. thanks Shane

which alk crossover for my super cornwall clones
molecularman replied to molecularman's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
This is the amp that is on my moniker, a loftin white single ended direct coupled 2a3, this is the sweatest. Plenty of power for high effiency speakers. Sovteks and nos 6sl7 tubes make the best music, but for now I am using all my sovteks in a brook 12a stereo copy with sansui 1000a output transformers. -

Here is a preamp I built for a friend in Virginia, it is a 76 with a 12ax7 phono stage, separat power supply. This is a winner and beats out any other preamp I have heard, even stuff costing 10k$. -

This is the turntable I am currently using, a thorens 166 mk II, relatively inexpensive, highly tweakable, and very good performance. -

Preamps are pretty easy to build here is a copy of my 76 preamp with a 6sl7 phono stage. Sounds great, makes one wonder why folk use 12au7s. -

Very observant and Thanks, Yes Vinyl has become a passion recently, but mostly I just love to build stuff, amps(tube), speakers, its all good, I will post some of my amp projects soon. So far I have built five amplifiers four preamplifiers and several pairs of speakers. Shane -
which alk crossover for my super cornwall clones
molecularman replied to molecularman's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I have a pair of cornwalls and a pair of klipshorns but needed something for my basement setup. These speakers when placed side by side to a cornwall are the exact same measurements, therefore clone. (But they are much faster) I wanted some advice in inputing a transformer into my crossover design, not presently being satisfied with using L-pads. Yes, you are correct these are not really cornwalls. -

Maybe your T25A can mate with mine and produce offspring. Shane -
Is there a Brook 12A there??

Hi All, Here is my current crossover, I think that I will try to incorporate the transformer into this somehow, any suggestions? Thanks Shane -

Here is a pict, I guess I will try incorporating the universal transformer into my current crossover design. Shane -

I will try to repost some picts tonight -
Seems like a very good price, choke loaded power supply, the build quality looks very good, question is how much hum? Could be a problem if too much I am going to add a dc filament supply to one of my single ended amps soon. shane

which alk crossover for my super cornwall clones
molecularman posted a topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Hi All, I have almost completed my version of a pair cornwall clones, I copied the bass cabinet of my single cornwall ser#232 with the vertical duct. The clones use an eminence 15" bass drivers (103 spl) and EV midranges (1823M) with sm-120 horns, along with st350a tweeters. My question is which alk crossover should I use? The one for the klipschorn or the cornwall, the midrange can go down to about 400Hz but only up to about 3500hz, where the tweeter takes over. (I have not oiled the tops yet) Shane
