  1. Merry Christmas Michael! Sorry about he Yammy I use/have all Yammy equipment, but use Denon for my DVD players. I use a 2900 on my main system, love it, and use a MK 2800II on my secondary system. Both of these units are older and reasonable....A ton of great press on those OPPO's though.
  2. Based on my experience, wait a few more hours Merry Christmas!
  3. This gentleman sold me his Forte II's at the same price he purchased them for some time back. These speakers are absolutley amazing in looks and sound. I have missed the three-way sound I had with my KLF-20's, and these have it. I have these now in my 2 channel rig and am quite happy! Thanks for passing along to another forum member! Good guy! Phil
  4. I'm sorry it took so long to respond. The Klipsch forum is the only one I can't type a message in from home, for some reason. Anyway, I may have my colors wrong on the leads, and your right Thebes, I noticed that when I was following the cables. A new Tone Arm, Do I see upgrade! Anyway, when I have time again I'll look in depth again. You guys have given me some new ideas on what to look for. I think it's killing me as I bought the Robert Plant and Allison Krauss album, and I have not heard it yet...
  5. I bought the TT used. It's a Rega Planer 2 with a rg250 tone arm. I bought a new cartridge for it. I am starting to suspect that while trying to adjust the angle of the cartridge I may have broken the connection on the green wire conecting the cartridge to the tonearm. When I switch the wires around I get music out of the left channel. My two channel rig is a Marantz 2385. When I first bought and setup my TT, I found my records to be in horrible shape. I pretty much left it until I found a store that sold new records in Asheville, NC a few weekends ago, thus the new interest.
  6. Hi Gary, Never thought of a multi meter...I sure can check for continuity!!! What were we talking about? Oh yea, OB....memory is the second thing!
  7. I have a sick feeling that that little itty bitty wire has broken off. It is still connected, but I think it may be the clamp that holds the wire andthe actual wire has broken. Hell, I can't even see that small.
  8. I said in my best Forrest Gump accent. However, for some reason on my computer at home I can start a message on this site but when I try to type text nothing happens....anyone know what the heck I've done wrong?
  9. I'm very frustrated in my TT set-up, or foray into setting up. Now my left channel does not work. I switch the cables and it does work, but then not the right. Could it be I have lost a connection in the tiny wires from the tonearm to the cartridge?
  10. I have been lucky enough to get a pair of Forte II's from NCSHARKDIVER, which I will pickup this Saturday! I'm not sure what to expect. I have had KLF-20's and loved them. I currently have RF-7's and RF-3 II's and love these guys. I'm sure I'll hear something like, if you love them you'll love the Fortes....but why? What can I expect...damn I can't wait! Phil
  11. I'm not really sure I can post sketches as I'm not that far along. I have some thoughts in my mind floating around but that's about it. Pretty much a theater on one side and a bar/social area on the other. I've seen a buch of fantastic projects out there and I'm trying to determine what I really want. They all look very cool, but I would like something a bit different than what I've seen to put our touch on it so to speak. You right about the sound proofing. I am in the hotel business and we typically double sheetrock stick built construction with 1/2" of airspace between the layers to help with sound proofing. Phil
  12. All very good comments. I never considered a drop ceiling vibrating and I can see how it would. Sheetrock it is. I also never considered the floor vibrating if I place a sub under the riser. It will absolutely need to be solid. What type of sound proofing can I do? I would like as little noise as possible to get through the floors and adjacent walls even though this may be impossible to some extent. The back of the theater will house a bar and my two channel rig. This will be a kinda mancave if you will. I do want it to look nice and be as accoustically correct as possible.
  13. In a unseen turn of events, it looks as if our house will finially sell. My current theater resides in a 1800 sq ft basement area shared with a downstairs kitchen, dining room, kids play area, exercise (virgin) area. The acoustics are just plain BAD! In the house we are buying, we have an unfinished basement. I am taking an area and making a true theater with new projector, seating etc. The back of the theater will have a bar and my 2 channel rig. The theater will be roughly 20 feet wide by 35 feet deep. Several questions I have. 1. What type of ceiling - Drop or sheet rock. Will accoustics suffer with a drop. Obviously trhis will be the cheaper route, but I would install very nice panels as apposed to typical panels. 2. On the risers seating, has anyone placed subs under this before? I will most likely have two subs up front and considering a third under the riser. 3. I will install in wall wiring with equipment in the back in a room/rack. Obviously I need to ventthis. Would a bathroom ceiling fan vented into the drop work if I could find a quiet one? 4. I am going to paint and frame a screen wall. No mechanical screen. However I may do curtains. Obviously I am in the planning stages...what am I forgetting or any comments !?! Thanks Phil
  14. PLAYOFF! I feel sorry for Hawaii. They may have played a weaker schedule, but they were undefeated! Give them a chance! In a playoff I would think you could. Who plays and who stays! One could make a good arguement for about 6 teams to play in the last game. Had Virginia Tech not had the melt down against Boston College earlier in the season, they would be. I don't like this situation of losses early on to climb back to the top in the current scenerio. I team who lost recently virtually has no chance...Of course Ohio State did and will play anly because they lost 1 game. Had several other teams not lost, Ohio State wouldn't even be in the picture.
  15. Congrats! I have a 2385 in my 2 channel set-up that is WAY overkill. Not only do they sound great, they also look pretty cool!
  16. PLAYOFF...PLAYOFF...PLAYOFF!!!! Very interesting shakeup at years end!
  17. Holy cow, we must have played together as kids! PS - I know we were not supposed to pump the crossman past 2 pumps, sorry about that....
  18. Butch isn't going anywhere, at least not now. He's one year into a contract and I feel it would look horrible if he left a program like that. He's done fantastic at the REAL Carolina. While we have lost many games, we have been in them all with the exception of 2. I think Mack Brown tought the True Blue a lesson. When you've got a great coach...PAY HIM! In this day and age you've got to "pay to play"! I think Spurrier is most likely the best USC can do....You guys play in the toughest football conference year in and year out, BAR NONE! BRING ON BASKETBALL!
  19. Flannj, That was too funny! Where do you get one? Christmas is coming up and you know, the kids and all...
  20. Ricjard, are you on a power generating TVA lake, We could run a few hundred extension cords and redirect the power flow at the dam head....just a thought.
  21. Wayne, you sound good! I know you must feel 100% better! Keep up the good work and as others have said, liten to your Dr. BTW: Thebes is a blowhard...He will not show up I can guarantee! Why just the other week he was picking on some poor little kid in Alabama, and didn't show up for that fight either. HANG IN THERE! Phil
  22. I think the most cost effective upgrade right now would be to use your 3806 as a pre/pro and get an outboard amp of say 150 watts or so...you'll see a HUGE difference. I have your set-up (except I use RF-3's instead of RS-7's) and used an AMC 150 WPC amp with my Yamaha RX-Z1 as the pre/pro. the difference was amazing. Since then I have gone to Yamaha M-80 260WPC vintage amps and again the difference is amazing.
  23. May sounds great! Lord knows my house won't be sold by then....
  24. [:^)]FISHING TRIP? Let's see, how can I manage both
