I try to achive more envelopment and a non directional sound by using two direct radiator speakers. I use a Jensen Imperial cabinet loaded with Klipschorn drivers for the bottom speaker. It's kind of like a Klipschorn, but doesn't need a corner. Upside down on top of that is a LaScala aimed in another direction. I think this combo works quite nice and the full range speakers really come alive with SACDs and DVD-Audio. I'll find a picture and post it. ---------------- Ha! I thought about that, but I guess I'll have to wait until Random House publishes it. HornEd, I've gone back and read a few of your posts, and I have to say, I like your style... full of personality, experience, and all things useful. peace, Forrest

Hopefully he understands that the new tubes, caps etc. need some time to settle in. ---------------- Believe this bit! Your amp will sound so much better after a month of operation! I didn't buy into this concept when I had my preamp/amp rebuilt, but time has converted my thinking. Enjoy! Forrest
  3. HornEd, A sincere thank you for your lucid definition. Double thanks that you took time you didn't have. I'll look for your other posts. Forrest
  4. If you don't mind explaining... what is a monopole system? thanks, Forrest
  5. Man, I can't believe you haven't hooked them up to see how they sound yet... dirty or not! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on these. Forrest

One of the "marriages" involves a 14 year old girl. If any small handfull of people can redine marriage I can already imagine the freakazoids lining up with their dogs, cats, whatever. How about a marriage between two adult male pedophiles and a teenaged boy? If marriage can be redefined by anybody who wants to what about the age of consent? Why would it mean anything? ---------------- Heated arguments often give great clues about what goes on in people's thoughts. Doncha think?

To Catholics marrage is a religious sacrement such as baptism and confermation. I agree that a solution must be found so that same sex parteners can make medical decisions for each other in time of crisis and similiar injustices. But, the "marrage" issue is just another "I'm gay and I'm in your face" issue. It causes the majority to revolt at the thought and, as stated above so aptly, is likely to backfire. Homosexual men and women have contributed vastly to our society, but the "In your face" movement is alienating a whole lot of people who theretofore were not concerned with the issue. People who had had an it's their life attitude previously. 11. The actions taken by some Anglican Churches regarding gay marriage are an affront to Christians everywhere. I am just thankful that the church's founder, Henry VIII, and his wife Catherine of Aragon, and his wife Anne Boleyn, and his wife Jane Seymour, and his wife Anne of Cleves, and his wife Katherine Howard, and his wife Catherine Parr are no longer here to suffer through this assault on traditional Christian marriage.
  12. I don't know about y'all, but I'm taking the pic, rotating it 90 deg counter-clockwise, framing it, and putting a title on it "Bearded Man at Dance". Other than that, I've not understood a thing about this thread except that If anything using AC coupling makes your work look *more* impressive.

A double shot of Strega please! It's been a hard week! Been sick during the first hint of spring here in Kentucky. I feel better today but it's going to get colder and rain. I wanna go fishing. Power Biggs recorded with was decent sounding, with good sonic clarity and warmth. Not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but not the worse either. On the other hand, I don't know what Dr. Virgil Fox was thinking when he recorded with the RCA Red Seal label...awful is the only word to describe it! Flat, two dimensional sound, dull, lifeless, and at times highly distorted! The CD versions of these LPs have been remastered for better dynamics and imaging, but the source tapes and/or direct-to-disc masters still suck out loud, so it's hard to improve on them. Which is a real shame seeing how I thoroughly enjoy Fox's post-romantic interpretations and playing technique over Bigg's strictly purist's interpretations (both late, great organists were outstanding in their style of performance, but I like how Fox would jazz things up a bit IMO)! ---------------- You hit the nail on the head with those thoughts. I truly *LOVE* Dr. Fox's interpretations, but the Red Seal Label was a horrible injustice to his work. I'm with you in that I don't understand why he kept them around. 25. I feel lucky. I've bought 2 sets of Cornwalls, a set of Heresys, a tube tuner/preamp and an amp. Everything was ultra smooth. That being said, everytime I send payment I have this sinking feeling that I've just been had.
