It's almost getting to the point around here that it's better if we DON'T know who half of them are. It would be nice if people would add their real name to their signature lines. -
Rega Plane vs. MBS-3. Time to put up or shut up

I have a 9000es. I live a 1000 miles away. I'll be over in a few hours. -
Q schmue Klipsch has some acoustic foam rolled up and squished into the top, against the back. I pulled it out, unrolled it, and cut a piece off for my crossover, rolled the rest back up and squished it back in. If anything, my board on that top brace is probably just preventing standing waves from bunching up in the top corners. The wire coming off of my board is the Northcreek 14 AWG silver coated copper. In spite of the fact that I can't find one positive comment anywhere about silver coated copper -- it seems O.K. to me. Some crap about a chemical process that's used to get the silver on the copper compromising the sound. Yeesh, I feel Audio Nervosa setting in. How am I supposed to trust my ears with all this brainwashing going on? Uhgg. A question about your interconnects. Did you make them? I don't understand what the third strand does.

I've decided to wrap my Cornwalls in rope caulk. I just love the stuff and can't keep my hands out of it. When I'm finished, I'm going to rope caulk my walls. I'll get that midrange under control.

Solder wick? Hell, I jist stick the ware in thar an milt the whole thang back togethr agin. -
I didn't add a part at a time, I just rebuilt the whole crossover -- so I don't know what or how the individual parts are contributing to the 'parts' are contributing to the differences. The improvements are from top to bottom: Cleaner, smoother, and better delineation of the the notes in the music. Values are identical with the exception of the lower DCR's of the inductors and one resistor. The DCR's of the inductors in the tweeter circuit are however -- within a 10th of an ohm. I will eventually wind my own with litz magnet wire when I get caught up on everything else. I won't discuss what I know about the circuit, or discuss the values on a public forum. You can email me, and I'll tell you what you need to know. I would however appreciate you keeping the information close to the vest. This all primarily out of respect for Klipsch.

Bumped, so Coolin can get a better look at the crossover.

Do you have the Photoshop package, or is that part of the $700?

This thread was primarily dealing with electronics. We are all aware of the monumental differences in sound between speakers. Dynaudios are not the end all. Just ask Ears.

Well yeah, I can't use your moniker -- cause it's already being used. I could only use 'Pompous Azz', because Kelly changed his back to 'Mobile Homeless'. I just found out we could do this a week ago, and we've all been goofing around with it just to annoy each other. It's been fun. -

Late at night, when everyone is sleeping -- I can hear the difference between the sound of my transformers and the sound of the fridge. There are differences in everything, but most of the time the differences are so subtle that they don't require excessive comment. If it's clean and under control -- my ears are happy enough. Wire, NOS tubes, circuit types, blah, blah, blah -- I'm mostly tired of trying to figure out what's 'best'. After 3 or 4 CD's with any of the gear I've owned over the last year -- I'm settled in. Personally, I think the biggest gains in performance are through upgrading the parts in the speaker crossover.

Yep, that's exactly what you do. Pull up, tell them who you are, and they forklift it right into your truck. You need to find out if she has the boxes. I'll be taking very precise measurements of my vault thingy when I get home tonight. I'll be measuring without the padding in place -- so, the Belles will HAVE to be in boxes. I'm going to try to figure out a way to make this work. There is only one forum member I know of who lives in N.C. -- -
Trust your ears -- how does it sound? Are you satisfied with the actual sound. Some of the Yammerhammers sound pretty good. Don't be afraid to use the balance adjusment -- that is why it is there.

The number you need to call for arrangements and what not can be found at the their web site - www.forwardair.com Turns out I was wrong -- looks like they take credit cards as well. Keep in mind -- where you drop off and pick up are only trucking terminals. They are probably not run by Forward Air, but are simply places where their trucks load and unload. -

Yeah, 76 Belles are chock full of Alnico drivers. Charlotte to Portland. O.K. You can use Forward Air. These are the folks I used to get my Cornwalls from San Jose, California to Dayton, Ohio. The grand total was $156. Now, here is the catch. The speakers have to be delivered to a Forward Air Trucking Terminal, where they will be weighed. They only take cash or money order -- up front. When the speakers are delivered, you just go pick them up. Completely hassle free. There is a Forward Air Trucking Terminal in Portland at 8922 N.E. ALDERWOOD ROAD BLDG. F PORTLAND , OR 97220 (phone 503-528-1033). There is a Forward Air Trucking Terminal in Chalotte at 3301 INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT RD CHARLOTTE , NC 28208 (phone 704-357-0771). These are the places people shop who are looking for value. I think the move is brilliant. The only downside is that specialty retailers made good money off of the Synergy line, and now they won't anymore. I know this will hurt them. Gee, I guess they'll have to get off their butt and learn how to SELL again.
