  1. Fantastic! Thank you BOTH! I think I'm going to try this out with the "extra" Heresy I have... Thanks, Mike

  3. Thanks for the input... I'll check out that C7 Mike

  5. Hi all, I have 3 Heresy's up front, (and 2 in the rear), and to me, they sound pretty damn good. But SWMBO isn't crazy about the Heresy on it's side on top of the TV cabinet. How would the KG 2.2v sound as a replacement for the Heresy I center? I like to keep SWMBO happy, but I could tune out her squawker if keeping the Heresy as a center leads to a more pleasureable listening experience. Thanks for the input... Mike
  6. They were made the day after mine on Friday, May 21, 1982...
  7. I agree they're a beautiful pair. I've purchased two pairs on eBay that were manufactured less than a week apart in the same year as those, (136X & 140X). They have the same finish and grills and both are in near mint condition. One pair came in at $410, the other at $401.50. The average price delivered was $471. Oh well, I guess if I were on the other side of the auction, I'd be jumping up and down with glee... Mike
  8. Unreal! First the Academy frenzy, now Heresy... I would have paid a premium price for that pair to finsh out my all Heresy HT, but $737?? Plus shipping?? Plus a premium for packaging?? I guess some people still do smoke that stuff!! Mike
  9. Most standard veneers are cut to a thickness of about 1/28" to 1/40". At best, it's about 1/16". That ain't much. If it's an oil finish, you can TRY to sand them out and them reapply some tung oil. Chances are those stains went deep though, and you might be better off just trying to hide it than trying to repair it. Thanks, Mike
  10. Hey JM, That sounds like a great idea. Any chance of sharing that ACAD drawing? Thanks, Mike
  11. Hey Milton, I'm running my all Heresy HT with an Anthem AVM-20 paired with the MCA-50 amp. I'm blown away by it listening to two channel music or 5.1 video! Check out Sonic Frontiers: http://www.anthemav.com/NewSitev2.0/News1.html About $3600 for the pair lightly used from AudiogoN. Mike
  12. Thank you all very, very much for responding to a question that's been addressed numerous times. I suppose I knew the answer as soon as I posted it. I just needed to type it out and hear it one more time to keep my head on straight. Mike
  13. In the past several months I've purchased two pairs of '82 Heresy's to use in my humble HT. I've been waiting for a single Heresy (WO) or another pair to come up on ebay to complete the setup. As it is, I've been following your suggestions and have 3 Heresy's up front. And I must say it sounds fantastic! Now, with the Academy flood on ebay, I've been rethinking the center. Putting aside for the moment the ~$300 cost differential between the Academy and a single Heresy, should I go for an Academy center or leave well enough alone with the 3 Heresy's up front? Thanks, Mike
  14. Dave, I'm interested. What's the S/N? Please email me... michael.bufis@verizon.net Thanks, Mike
  15. Check out the Anthem MCA-50 from Sonic Frontiers. http://www.anthemav.com/NewSitev2.0/News2.html Here's one review: http://www.hometheatersound.com/equipment/anthem_mca50.htm Mike
  16. OK, so the bolts above the screws have no function? Thanks again,
  17. On the back of early Heresy's the speaker connection has two screws and two bolts as shown in the attached pic. What are the bolts for? Is this so you can use either the supplied screws or nuts on the upper bolt posts? Thanks for your indulgence...
  18. Thank you both for your suggestions. I've seen a couple of the Polk on ebay so I'll try my luck on one that's coming up and let you know when I have it set up. Thanks,
  19. My second pair of Heresy arrived and I'm using one as a center channel. You guys are right... it sounds FANTASTIC! Now I'd like to augment the bass with a subwoofer. Any suggestions for this po' boys budget HT? (TheEAR over in Powered Subwoofers suggested the Polk PSW404). Just wondered if you Heritage folks had any other suggestion. I could pick up an RW-10 for about $330, but that's about my maximum. The room is only 12'x14' and I'm not into rattling the windows. Just looking for something that will blend well with the Heresy for a bit more presence with HT and music. Any ieas? Thanks,
  20. I'm trying to put together an HT setup on an obviously limited budget, given the prices I've seen for subwoofers in general. I have Heresy front and center in a relatively small 12'x14' living room. Is there a sub out there that will augment the Heresy and provide a measurable level of bass response and offer at least some level of audible enjoyment for both movies and music for around $300? I see that I can pick up an RW-10 new for about $330. Will that do "it"? Thanks,
  21. Thank you both for your replies. I realize my setup is considerably less than "ideal". I'm just trying to make the very best of it. I kinda sorta wish I had gone with Forte's which come with a base, (and bass, too). The eBay Academy "frenzy" the past few weeks really ticked me off, so I was thinking home brew or Heresy as a center. Then I got lucky and "won" a Heresy pair on eBay. They're the same HWO as the ones I have and were built 4 days later,if I understand the SN code correctly, (the ones I have are 136X and the ones on the way are 140X). I wasn't too keen on placing the center up on top of the entertainment unit until I did the measuring and found out that raising the mains 16" would not only put them at ear level, but it would also maintain the same relative mains/center height that I have now. Although I'm still a bit concerned that the center channel is way too high at 30" center to center with the TV, (about double what it currently is). But, there's not much I can do about it. As I said, I'm just trying to make the best of a less than ideal situation. I'm really anxious to hear how this is all gonna sound... Thanks,
  22. I'm in a quandary over center channel speaker placement and would appreciate your input. I have a 27" regular TV in a regular 6' entertainment unit. The opening for the TV allows me 8" to place a center speaker on top of the TV and in the cabinet where I have the current center speaker. I want to replace the crappola speaker with a Klipsch center to mach the Heresy mains. There's not much of a choice. I can use an RC3-II or build a home brew with tweeter and midrange to match the Heresy. An Academy won't fit. The other option is to place an Academy or, better yet, some would say, a third Heresy as the center on the top of the entertainment unit. However, this would place the center of the speaker about 36" above the center of the TV and coincidentally, about that distance above the listener's ears. (And, at about the same height above the floor as the surrounds). The Heresy mains are on the floor slightly angled upward. The room is relatively small with a couch against one wall 11' from the TV on the other wall. The mains are about 6' apart. So anyone care to speculate how the heck that might sound with say a Heresy laid on it's side as the center channel so far above the mains and the TV? Might it sound "better" if I raised the mains 16" so that the tweeter/midrange is at about the listener's ear level? (This will put the center channel 45" above the mains, center to center, the same distance apart as the current setup). Isn't that too high for a center channel? Thanks,
  23. Hi, Well perhaps now that we have the "...I'd pay $900" fanatics out of the way, the rest of us just might get a chance to own one for a reasonable price. At least the players vying for the two that are listed now seem to be smart enough to keep the bidding down with so many days yet to go. I've been lurking the forum for several months. Ten years ago I had to sell my beloved Forte's and replaced them with mint '82 Heresy WO that I got on eBay for $460 delivered. Now I'd like to incorporate them into an HT setup so I'm looking for the "perfect" center, (I don't think SWMBO will go for a third Heresy way up on top of the entertainment unit, which would put it close to the ceiling anyway). So it's either an Academy or go the home-built route, since most of you don't think that the current Klipsch centers would do justice to the sound of the Heresy. Am I correct on that? Thanks for reading...
