  1. Thank you for giving our site back to us. Dean
  2. Oh, I didn't get that information from you -- I found it out on the web somewhere. When you get time to play, it will be interesting to see what kind of conclusions you come to.
  3. No matter what cable you choose, will vary in its resistance, inductance, and capacitance values -- and this WILL have subtle, and sometimes dramatic effects on the overall signature of the system. Solid State or Tube gear -- it doesn't matter. "Expensive" cables have no advantage over a cheaper cable with the same properties.
  4. I am not a "good" technician, so I need some specifics. "Secure a DC voltage source: 35V to 75V." Please define a DC voltage souce that would generate those voltages. Short all leads and terminals together to remove residual cap charge. Since we have wires from the voltage source hooked up to both positive and negative through this process (including reversing the polarity) -- what "leads and terminals" are we shorting, and once identified, how are they shorted? With that out of the way... My understanding is that PIOs are "lossy", that is -- they do not hold a charge for very long. The cap is charged, and then immediately begins to "drain". So, poor dielectric absorbtion properties. In fact, they are not doing what they should be doing. Any chance at all that this procedure may be causing a slight breakdown of the dielectric, resulting in some "lossiness"?
  5. Keith, that's great. Man, that room does sound a lot like mine. You might want to PM/email Leok about future crossover mods. I'm confident they would elevate the Chorus' to another level. Not much to it really, and makes an unbelievable difference.
  6. Not well known is the fact that after filming, ALL of the midgets committed suicide together. There was one suicide note, which read: "We're off the see the Wizard." Many surmized, correctly of course -- they simply could no longer live with the extreme humiliation resulting from the strange outfits and bizarre dancing forced upon them.
  7. Guy, if you don't mind me asking -- where did Craig "flame" you? He just said you were way off base with your opinion -- I don't think that constitutes a "flame". I can't figure out where all of this anger is coming from. These vintage integrateds have a lot more going on in them, and much more to offer than any of the modern integrateds. You get a REAL preamp section, with a PHONO stage, FIXED bias which runs the output tubes properly, tube rectification, a balance control, and tone controls.
  8. LOL Have you heard the details about Mark's new project? I think he needs a new Moniker too.
  9. Because I'm at work now, and forgot to delete my cookies and login using the 'Hepta Bronte' username I'm using now.
  10. I thought my posts were the most "troubling" posts? Frankly, I'm insanely jealous.
  11. My amp is .33 volts "at full output". I was hoping if I found a SS amp rated the same, I wouldn't have to worry about level controls.
  12. Leo, I don't undersand. The only thing the amp should "care about" is the impedance it sees. If this isn't true, then biamping would never work under any condition.
  13. If I wanted to biamp, and run two different amps -- what spec do I need to know to make sure the output is "matched"?
  14. Here you go Erik. You can contact him through this thread as well. Just click 'message user' on his post.
  15. Smilin, you're like a blast of fresh air through here. Pretty funny stuff. We'll somebody has to be in charge of reminding us when we're being idiots -- so you're in charge now.
  16. "The difference in sound quality from the various tube amp topologies pales in comparison to the difference between RF-3's and Khorns." Or even RF-7s. It's a well given point however.
  17. I've decided I like the sound of cranky caps.
  18. Good horn sound is like 'real' beer, or really good coffee -- it's an aquired taste. Don't feel bad. My 13 year old daughter swears everything I've ever owned "sounds pretty much the same"!
  19. five or six weeks -- hell, I thought it was five or six months.
  20. Yikes. What is there to "flame"? Dare I ask which method you prefer?
