  1. Is it just me or did this movie really blow!! The story sucked and the casting was horrible! The chick who played a vampire never had me convinced. How come she could go out in sunlight? I mean come on, Pauly Shore could play a more belivable vampire role. And how did they invent a car, a submarine and automatic machine guns all of a sudden? It really pissed me off! I had high expectations for this movie and it was a real let down. Am I just being too critical?
  2. Are episodes of the Seinfeld Show available on DVD?? I haven't been able to find them. Just wondered if anyone had info on this. I loved that show.
  3. Favorites for 2003: KoRn- Take a look in the mirror Limp Bizkit- Results may vary Linkin Park- Meteora
  4. I'm sorry guys, thanks for correcting me. I did mean "component" rather than composite. Thanks for all the info on this subject. That's a lot of stuff that I did not know. Does this mean that we are all going to have to get rid of our component equipment and step up to DVI just to keep up with advancing technology in picture quality?
  5. With DVI starting to show up on more and more products, is it really better than composite? If so, why, and what are the advantages other than single cable hook-up?
  6. Man I love this forum. I learn so much. Hey Cyclone, I too noticed poor video with my "Pirates" disc. I thought it was just me. Also, I did not know about "DTS only" versions of certain movies. I have a Private Ryan disc that is DD only. I am going to check into this before buying anymore of my favorite movies on DVD. Thanks to all on this forum for such useful information.
  7. Whadyasay, you describe the problem perfectly. Muffled, hole in the middle, out of phase kind of sound describes it exactly. I was convinced it was my set-up or receiver or room size until I took the speaker to my brother's house and tried it there. It was the same and he noticed it too. I've already traded it out at the dealer for another one and it was no different. The only reason I'm leaning towards the RC-7 is because I listened too one and it was incredibly detailed. I'm just a little aprehensive as I don't want it to overpower my fronts. How is the RC-3II? GoodGuys has them for $149.00. That seems like a steal to me.
  8. I'm thinking of upgrading to an RC-7. Would this be a bad idea with my current system. Would it be a mismatch? The RC-35 is OK for music but for movies it's not detailed and sounds boxxy. Especially voices and dialog. Sometimes I have to rewind and listen again because I can't make out what someone said. Has anyone else had this problem? I tried everything with this speaker and I just can't take it anymore!
  9. For your type of set up I think you will be happier with the RS-35's as surrounds because speaker placement isn't as big an issue as with the RB's. I have had a similar set up and was very happy with it. The RS-35's are nice surrounds and will match your system perfectly. Also, if you can afford it, step up to the RSW-12 for your sub. It's a better sounding unit and you can never have too much bass!!
  10. It will be like going from a '72 Ford Pinto Wagon to a new Ferrari. That being said, the reason you are not getting much sound or presence from your surrounds could be many reasons other than your speaker choice. Have you tried different speaker placement? What kind of reciever do you have and is it set up properly. Are your speakers wired properly? Buying new surrounds may not solve your problem and you will be unhappy. Also if the rest of your system is Synergy and you step it up to full blown Reference 7 series just on the surrounds your system will be horribly mis-matched.
  11. I have RF's, RSW-15 and RB-5's in maple and I really like it. Like you say, it makes them look more expensive. My center and surrounds are black because that's all they're available in and it makes em' look kinda cheap in comparison. Klipsch's maple veneer is beautiful and I often sit and stare at them in awe of the fine craftsmanship(does anybody else do that?),but I'm kinda wierd like that when I own cool stuff. But like Grinnie says,"it's how they sound". Besides that Orange Peel, I checked out the pics of your system and that's a SICK lookin' set-up you got there bro! You got nothin' to worry about.
  12. Also while in GoodGuys I noticed several great deals on recievers under $500.00 It's Christmas time and they are blowing out overstocks and discontinued items. This is a great time to find components at rock bottom prices. And no, I don't work for GoodGuys, I just do a lot of business with them and they treat me very good. I've always had good luck with stuff from Denon and Yamaha.
  13. I just bought some RB-5 II's yesterday new in the box from GoodGuys for $499.00. It was a special closeout puchase. These went for about $850.00 a pair. Close to half price!! They still have some if you hurry but very few are left. I'm using them as surrounds. I tried them out as fronts for fun and they sound great for a bookshelf speaker. They're no match for my RF-5's as fronts but compliment them perfectly as surrounds. Awesome for DVD Audio! No matter what you would use them for you will be happy, epecially at that price.
  14. I had the same problem with my RC-35. I have a tube TV and from what I understand they are very sensitive to magnetic fields. I had to put mine on a shelf on the wall behind the TV. It sucks but I had no alternative. I have been told that putting a sheet of copper between the TV and the speaker may help, but I have not tried it. Could you elaborate more on "bucking magnets". I have heard of this. Changes the magnetic field or something. Are all Klipsch center channels equipped with these?
  15. While browsing E-Bay and other sites I often see equipment for sale with the owner touting, "owned by non-smoker". Does cigarette smoking harm electronics and speakers?
  16. Yeah KeesGuy, it's scratched through the aluminum layer. I figured it was junk but i thought I'd ask. What a bummer! It was a Flim & the BB's disc and they're so hard to find. Does anybody know where to find their music anymore?
  17. Yeah I got the new KoRN the first day it came out and let me tell you it kicks ***!!! Highly recommended. Sounds great on the Klipsch's!!
  18. I'm thinking about using RB-35's as surrounds and keeping one set of my RS-35's as surround rears. I want something better for DVD audio. Has anyone used RB-35's as surrounds? Would they be a good match for my system? What benefits if any can be had by using these over direct reflecting speakers such as the RS-35?

    New KoRN!

Just got the new KoRN and man it kicks ***!!! Can't wait to see em live again!
  20. Can a CD be repaired if the reflective coating on the label side is scratched off. I have a hard to find CD with this problem that no player wiil read.
  21. I am new to this forum and just wanted to say thanks. I figured out the tweeter problem. It was a bad solder joint on the crossover, just as "jef" and "itsmyforte" thought it might be. Just hit it with the soldering iron and I'm rockin' again! This is a really cool forum. Learned a lot just reading other topics. You guys really seem to know what you're talking about. Thanks again! The part on the crossover with a bad solder joint was ceramic. What is that?
  22. I have RF-5 fronts driven by a Denon 4802R receiver. On one speaker the tweeter cuts in and out and crackles at times. The tweeter won't even work sometimes until the volume is turned up then it starts cutting in and out. I've switched the left and right speaker cables around just to make sure it wasn't one of the receiver channels causing the problem. My question is, does this sound like a tweeter problem or a crossover problem? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
