  1. Yeah, im on the list as well and hoping to evaluate it
  2. Carl, That is the beauty of it, I can listen to every type of music and it still sounds great on any genre it may be. I mean it is smooth and clean for classical, it plays the sax and piano like a dream and can jam hardcore to rock if the need arises. Vocals are superb and crisp, I was listening to Klaus Meine singing "Winds of Change" and it sounded like he was there, It is truly sounds great for all types of music!!
  3. ROCK ON DUDE!!!!! I am happy for yeah, now you hear what I experience with my RF-7's with modified crossovers by Dean G, my Dynaco Mark III's have been beefed up and modified by Craig at NOS valves and they jam. I have the Valve ART KT-88's for output tubes, Russian film and foils for the caps, RCA clear top for the 12AU7's, he also set it up with individual bias test points and controls for each of the 4 output tubes so that i can fine tune the voltage to each one for optimal performance. these amps have the Triode board and Craig completely beefed these up, he setup a switch that i can flip between Ultralinear and Triode mode. In triode mode it cuts the wattage in half to 30watts per amp but OMG is the sound alot cleaner and soundstage becomes deeper and richer when strapped in Triode mode. I have a Audio Experience Symphonies Plus tube preamp and my sources are a Sony 300 disc changer running to a Monarchy Audio jitter reducer and then to a MSB Link DAC III upsampling the CD's to 24/132khz. I have a Marantz SA-8260 SACD player for SACD's and Denon DVD-3800 for DVD Audio and movies. I jam to heavy rock, Scorpions, Dokken, you name it. The guitars and drums and vocals are amazing, I have a Klipsch RSW-15 filling out the bottom end and boy does it thump on drums and Bass guitar!!!! I can crank it more than I can stand and it still stays crisp and clean as a bell
  4. You are about to embark on a great journey my friend, once you get Tubed you will never go back
  5. My brother on whim decided to test out the Denon 3803 which is a replacement for the 3802 for his KG 5.5's and OMG it sounded horrible!!! The highs were piercing like an Ice pick through your skull, we turned the treble down to the -6 number as low as it will go and it still on music and movies had a edginess to the highs and mids, the bass was mediocre at best and flat and that is with +10 on the bass. It did not go well at all, we have a Scott 229-C integrated tube amp that we are using rebuilt by NOS valves and it sounds superb, clear and smooth highs, nice midrange with tons of low clean bass! The music is alot richer, movies sound way better!! I would not power these klipsch speakers with modern SS HT junk!!!
  6. I suppose so Dean, I will not hold it against them my father.
  7. Jbryan, Im currently using RF-7's with modified crossovers, RC-7 Center powered by Scott 99-D mono amp, and for my main amps I have Dynaco Mark III 60w monobloc amps strapped in Triode mode with a tube preamp with a Klipsch RSW-15 filling in the low end. Now, considering I listen to a lot of High Voltage Rock, would the SET 2A3 be sufficeint for me? I want to fill the room with high voltage guitar, slam of the drums and hear the bass guitar thump the room.

  9. Nice job Craig, sure looks like a beaut to me I can attest to Craig's work on these Dynaco amps, he recently completely overhauled and spruced up my Dynaco Mark III mono amps with all the goodies and boy do they rock, very clean and smooth. BTW, you did a great job on the Scott 99-D you rebuilt for me, sounds great!! I hooked it up with my RC-7 center and played Kill Bill 2, the bass and smoothness of the treble is excellent.

But since you're able to squeeze $1500 to upgrade to RF5's, I think it would be wise to squeeze a little more (so what if you have to skip a few meals?) and get the real deal, the true bad boy, the lunch money bully of the lineup. ---------------- ROCK ON DUDE!!!! I love blasting my 7's with pure tube power, I crank up the knob throw it into the red zone and bust out some killer riffs
  11. I would definatly recommend the RF-7's!! Hands down, i have a pair of Dynaco tube mono amps paired to a tube preamp. I rock down the house with these bad boys!!!
  12. Yes, I have one for my SACD player and it is great, has a nice warm sound to it and plenty of slam for all media, SACD, CD. It thumps hard with nice smooth deep bass, and smooth detailed highs. Its a wonderful player for the money and it weighs a ton and built like a tank.

  15. Fini, Are you sure this guy isnt WeTODDdid ????
  16. If you have the RF-7's, you definatly owe it to yourself to pick up a RSW-15 to fill out the bottom octaves.

The ideal zone for the crossover for RF-7s IMO is between 60 Hz and 100 Hz. If the crossover is set higher than 100 Hz, it will be easy to hear where the subwoofer is. Bill ---------------- I set mine to 40hz and run my RF-7's full range of my Tube preamp and run the subwoofer off the 2nd set of outputs on the preamp.
  18. Klipsch RSW-15 will go just fine with those RF-7's. I have the RSW-15 and it just plain ROCKS!!!! I power on my Mono block Dynaco's, flip 'em to triode and crank the volume and watch my LED meters get into the red, I then proceed to pay homage to the gods of rock!!!
  19. ---------------- On 10/17/2004 2:08:26 PM texas42 wrote: The strange thing about the RF-7s are they sound very 'average' with a lot of home theater receivers (for 2 channel audio) and that is how they are most demonstrated at audio salons. I know the first few times I auditioned them (in different cities, in different stores) I thought they sounded very over priced and non-involving. It wasn't til I heard them set up with a nice tube amp that I realized how great these speakers could sound. In my listening room, with my gear, they surpassed the sound of my cornwalls, chorus, and KLFs. ---------------- Amen to that, Ive been rocking out all day and night with my RF-7's with Deans crossover mods, powered by a pair of modified Dynaco Mark III's in triode mode, tube preamp, and a RSW-15 sub filling out the bottom end. Ive been jammin Scorpions, Iron Maiden all weekend and let me tell you, its a blast. The electric guitar sounds oh so real and like its coming at you from the speaker!!!
  20. I would imagine that your ears would go way before the speakers
  21. Ive been using the Ei 12ax7 on my Preamp and have had very good luck, sounds very nice. Seems to pick out the detail in the music, it is a copy of the Telefunken long smooth plate 12AX7. They say that it is the nicest sounding 12AX7 in current production, this is from www.Dougstubes.com and several others, he uses these in his preamps and really likes them and they are $9 a pop!!

There is little change in the soundstage, but a tremendous improvement in instrument separation, as well as how natural the instruments sound. For the price, it's an awesome upgrade. ---------------- Thats great, glad you are liking the MSB DAC, it is a great improvement for sure!

Thanks! ---------------- Most definatley, it just really cleans up the sound from CD's, makes them sound smoother and more natural especially when you pair it with a Monarchy Audio DIP classic jitter reducer box, that made a nice diffrence with a blacker background, and smoother highs due to less jitter.
  25. Ive solved the female voice issue by just playing male voices exclusively
