  1. I added the Harmony 1uf By-pass cap to my AA crossovers as per Al's instructions. It really works great and will hold me until I get the ALK's I ordered from Al. Worth while $22.00 investment until than. Of course I have Belles not LaScalas but close enough. hoggy
  2. Lately for me it's been Bob Dylans' Blood on the Tracks. If it wasn't on vinyl I'd probably play Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts about 5 time straight. Other Albums I always go back to is my Cat Stevens Teaser and Firecat. Of course there are many others. hoggy
  3. I doubt that's even close to a record. I bought them new in 1976 from Magnolia Hi-Fi in Tukwila, Wa. I was 26 yrs old than. Seems like such a long time ago. They are Walnut Oiled. hoggy
  4. In the 28 yrs I have owned my Belles I have driven them with serveral combinations on recievers and Amps-Pre-amps. They all have sounded differnt. I have lived in my same home for 26 yrs plus and have tried 4 differnt amp-pre amp arrangements with the speakers/furnature etc in the same place. 1st of 4 in currant home was Tandberg 3006 & 3008 amp-preamp. Used these until last year when I tried replaceing the Tandberg pre-amp with a McIntosh C28. Went back to the Tanberg pre-amp replaceing the C28 because of the Tandbergs phono section. Sounded better in the base with the Mac pre-amp. Than I tried a Adcom 5802 amp. Listened to that for 3 days before I decided the Adcom was not good with my Belles at all. Something was missing. The highs were dead. The Tandberg amp sounded much better. Next I replaced the Tandberg amp with the McIntosh MC352 which really brought the bottom end out much, much better at both hi and low volumes. Couldn't be happier with this amp. And finally I replaced the Tandberg pre-amp with a C40 because of the fine phono section in it. Also other features of the C40.So I'd swear to the fact every componant has it's own sound. These 4 differnt combinations were all with the speakers and furnature in exactly the same place. My systems sounds almost perfect for me now. Now just waiting for Al's x-overs and that should get me where I want to be. Hope this helps. hoggy
  5. Hi all, Didn't know where to post this so I figured this forum was the best choice. There's going to be a Record Collectors Convention (show) in Seattle this coming Sunday. I am NOT affiliacted in any way but figured a lot of you (like me ) are always looking for the album I should have bought or add to your collection. It says in the flier I have "BUY-SELL or TRADE" It's in Lake City Community Center at 12531-28th NE, Seattle from 10am-4pm on Sunday the 18th. I'll be there. hoggy
  6. Thanks to all who have replied. Very enlightening HD. I knew if anyone here would know it would be you. Thx, hoggy
  7. Happy BD. BTW it's also my BD. I'm 54 today. In 1950 it happened to be Friday the 13th. I think I'll buy myself a record cleaning machine. hoggy
  8. Maron, Actually I never really gave it much thought until I noticed everyone on their ebay adds and also when some people posted on here they seemed to make a deal(or maybe just mentioned) about their speakers being consec numbered. I'm just going to forget about it as I've had these for 28yrs now and will probably die or go to an old folk home before I get rid of them. I didn't go so far as to check ser numbers on the drivers etc. Although when I wrapped my squawkers with Dora Mat (which I didn't care for so removed after listening to for a week). I did take note of the date stamped in the K500 horns. 395 had a'74 date and 392 had '75 date so that told me Klipsch just grabbed the horns from stock which who cares anyway. I was curious however because so many did get consecative numbered speakers. Thanks for you time in your responces. hoggy
  9. I didn't mean to sound as if I was actually "angry" at Magnolia but I think Klipsch would ship speakers in consec numbers to dealers say 390 thru 396 (for example 3 pairs of Belles) and am thinking Magnolia just crabbed any 2 out of stock when they delivered not paying attention to consec numbers. Just my thoughts. However you may be correct in that maybe Magnolia had just one pair which Klipsch shipped and 392 and 395 looked better together. Maybe HDBRbuilder can shed some light into this subject. hoggy
  10. I have read many posts and have browsed ebay a lot about heritage speakers. It seems every pair of speakers have consecative numbers. It's really starting to bother me that my Belles don't have consecative numbers. I'm a bit po'd at Magnolia Hi-Fi now because of them selling me a non consecative pair. BK-WO 1P392 and BK-WO 1P395. I know this is really silly to get upset over something that happened 28yrs ago. But if I ever go to sell them this may decrease their value. One thing I can say is that when both speakers are side by side the wood grain and pattern do match pretty well and it would be hard to tell they aren't a match pair. Any input would be appriciated. hoggy
  11. Was just wondering. Have AL's crossovers on order and just got the thought when browsing this thread. Thx, hoggy
  12. Just wondering what one could expect if they changed a K500 to a K400 in their Belles? I have my Belles in corners and there is lots of room for the extra length. Any one tried this? thx, hog

  16. I've been riding for 41 years. Of course I did stop long enough to listen to music etc. Ok the best advise I can give you is learn and practice defensive riding skills. Look around constantly and alway be aware of what's behind and to the sides of you especially when stopping. Be prepared to get out of the way always and almost most importantly is alway ride as if the other people on the road can't/don't see you even when you have made eye contact with them. You'd be surprised how many times you'd swear they saw you only to have them change lanes on you when beside you. edited here I should have read the other posts 1st. There's much good advise given. For fun the bikes I can remember owning starting with my 1st in order of owning them. '61 Honda 50 super sport (Airman brought over from Japan) '65-66? Honda 250 Scrambler '70 Harley Sportster '65 Triumph Bonniville '73 Suzuki 250 Enduro '76 KZ900 Kawi '81 Goldwing '83 Harley Wide Glide presantly my '96 Harley Dyna Wide Glide hoggy
  17. Not that it matters but I'm a bit confused. I take it the Letter indicates the year of manufacter so what year is "O"? or did Paul decide to skip O? Thx, hog
  18. Just curios. Can anyone date my Belles for me. I bought them new but can't remember when. Was sometime in mid to late '70's. Think I bought them in '75. BK-WO 1P392 & 395. How I didn't end up with consec serial #'s is beyond me. Didn't know or really care at the time was just anxious to get them home. I must have gotten 2 that were meant to be center channels. Both sound the same. The K500 horn on 395 is dated 9/12/74 and the horn on 392 is dated 8/15/75. Have a piar of Al's crossover ordered for them. Can't wait. hoggy
  19. I can atest to the fact about big amps vs small amps as far as bass goes. I originally ran my Belles with a Tandberg 2075 Reciever. When I upgraded it to the 3006 & 3008 pre-amp and amp (conservative 150 WPS) it made a big differnce. But when I recently bought a McIntosh MC 352 (350 WPS) the bass really opened up at low watts. It was such a differnce I couldn't believe it nwas the same speakers. I feel in love with my Belles all over again whether hi or very low volumes. Buy the best highest quality amp you can afford because it really does make a big differnce. At least in my case it did. hog
  20. Mountain Mantucket Sleighride. One of their tunes had been going through my head the day before. hoggy
  21. Hello all, I'm new to this forum and wanted to say hi. Hope everyone had a very happy Christmas this year. Now my answers to the poll. 1) Belle Klipsch 2) 26 yrs old 3) 54 4) Were not any other models other than Heritage at the time if I remember right. 5) If I had the room I would probably pick up another Belle or LaScala as a center channel. 6) No opinion. Have never heard them.
