  1. Thanks for posting this Al. BTW it's a Nikon D1x with a 60mm macro lens attached. I downsized them to send to you. I may be a poor Sheet Metal worker but I don't skimp on the things I really like. Just usually takes me a very long time to pay them off. It's the American way.... ) hoggy
  2. I don't know when they changed them but my 76 Belles were different so had to be 74 or 75. hoggy
  3. Is this right right place to attach the bypass cap? thx hoggy
  4. Thx Rick Is that the black lead from the autoformer where it attaches at the autoformer or where it attaches to the lower cap that runs to the autoformer? Just want to make sure. thx again, Steve
  5. I want to try to do the 1uf bypass cap mod on these 1971 AA networks but they're quite a bit differnt than the newer ones. Can anyone tell me where in this photo I do this? I did it to my 76 networks. I know nothing about doing this to these earlier ones. Any help would be appriciated. thx hoggy
  6. Hi guys, I took these AA's out of my 71 Khorns and want to try the 1uf bypass cap on them. They are differnt than later AA's. What's the major differnce between the two AA's and where do I solder the bypass cap? The AA's in my Belles I traded were the later type and the mod worked great. I tried tracing the wires between the 2 types but there are major differnces off the #5 tap to where the it connects to the other caps. I don't know what's what to describe it right so please bear with me. Thx, hoggy
  7. Clone CD works good too. It's no longer available though. hoggy
  8. In about 85-90% of the time I prefer the sound of my vinyl. Once in a while a CD that is the same album sounds better. Probably because it was remastered much better than the original Album. Trouble is to replace evey album I own to find that 10-15% or less CD that sounds better. Afterall 462 records is a hell of a lot of money to spend to replace all my vinyl. I do however perfer the CD in one respect. I don't have to get up every 20-25 mins to turn it over. Another plus to CD's is sometimes I'll fall asleep listening to a Album only to have a $800 cartridage go tick, tick, tick at the end of a side, you don't have to worry about that with CD's. hoggy
  9. I did the same thing about 6 months ago. Took me 2 weeks to inventory my 462 albums. I only did the A to Z though. I didn't list as to favorites. I just listed title, artist, label, album number, year, conditions of both record and cover. It's quite a job but makes life with anyones collection much easier. I than printed it out and laminated the pages so when someone comes over and wants to hear something we can look it up easily. hoggy
  10. Not to critisize but the "old" man probably was selling it to get the whole thing out of his garage. When you just took the tubes you probably did him a disservice. Now he has the burdon of trying to get rid of it another way. Bet he's upset about it. My .02 hoggy
  11. Deleted OOPS Sheesh I knew this!!!!!!! NEVER MIND please Thx, hoggy
  12. I'm a sheet metal worker by trade and have thought of putting some exotic metal on the face of the bass bin. Something custom. Or maybe a piece of #4 polished stainless, or maybe a "jeweled" finish. Mirrors!!!!! They're just stained fir now. hoggy
  13. Yes I second that. Thanks much. Even though I have the Cardas record sweep it doesn't have all the individual freqs. This could/will come in very handy. hoggy
  14. jbsl, I could tell you my nightmare with your company (DELL) but it would take too long. They put my order off for close to 4 months before I cancelled it. Making every excuse in the book. Since than I have built my own comps. hoggy
  15. Moran, I have taken the ply out for now. It messed my upper bass and mids up quite a bit. I'll try it once more with the grippers. So far I'm 0 for 2. Tried the dynamatt on the squawker didn't like now the plyfood for floor, also have not liked. Guess it may end up being personal prefernces. But I'll try all options to make up my mind. I have Al's A networks coming today. Sure hope this won't be 0 for 3. I'd hate to send them back after waiting since Christmas. hoggy
  16. I agree that the Khorns take up less floor space than the Belles if at a 45 degree in the corner (about 2"). If the Belles are parallel to the wall they stick out the least. The Belles however are not as deep as the LaS but are wider. You'll have to figure out which is acceptable to her. Not sure if on the Klipsch site it list the demensions of the Khorn, Belle or LaS but I have posted elseware on this forum spec sheets on the 3 which shows them. Just don't remember where. Perhaps a search will help. hoggy
  17. Another good table to keep an eye out for in that price range is the CJ Walker model CJ55. I had one for almost 20 years before upgrading to my LP12. Sold it to a good friend who loves it. I've only seen a few of them on Ebay. hoggy
  18. You might talk her into some Belles the sound almost identical. They're much better looking and she may go for that. Or refinish your Las to her liking. Good looking speakers may just be what will change her mind. Or for a last ditch effort you could just divorse her. In the long run that would probsably be your easiest out. Just kidding on the last two sentences. Keep smiling. hoggy
  19. Not sure if I have any idea what I'm about to say but is it possible the squawker wires got reversed when your expert friend rebuilt them? Stranger things have happened. BTW you can see I too like McIntosh. hoggy
  20. Thanks, I'll give her a try. hoggy
  21. Correction. The cost was $5.50 ea for matched set for the Harmony 1uf bypass caps. Not $11.00 ea. hoggy
  22. I did this mod to my Belles before I traded them for my Khorns. To me this mod made a night and day differnce. If I wasn't getting Al's networks soon I'd certainly do it to my Khorns. It's well worth the costs ($22 if I remember right). hoggy
  23. Face it!!! We're all just a bunch of overgrown kids and kids bicker. Err ahh well you guys are anyway. hoggy BTW Just kidding. Ah er kind of.
  24. Thx 3dzapper. I've been watching ebay but missed these. I added them to my watch list. I don't like my equiptment being incomplete. BTW how much is too much to pay for these if you have any idea? Thx again, hoggy
