  1. I've found myself liking Ogg better than mp3s lately, especially now that I have an mp3 player capible of playback. I rip only Ogg Vorbis @ 256 VBR on my Xbox and PC now. Usually use my Xbox to do ripping since its usually just sitting there, and then I ftp it to my PC. I'm thinking that while you have the means you should try all the popular audio formats... (WAV, WM Lossless, Apple Lossless, AAC, MP3, OGG, WMA, and FLAC. Obviously you can't really compare them when they are all at 320, so maybe compare them at bitrates you can easily find anomolies at, like 96, 128, and 160. Them compare them at their higher bitrates like 192, 256, and 320 against the lossless formats. Might be hard to get AAC and Apple Lossless. Not sure if you actually need an Apple or just iTunes to do Apple Lossless, and only premium audio programs rip AAC. If you have any issues needing a program to rip, gimme a PM, I will 'aquire' a program for you. That is only if you would like to do this though.
  2. Lol, my list of keys got deleted. I guess that was a little overboard, but oh well.
  3. Packers,,, even though their record is horrid!
  4. Scott Weiland of former Stone Temple Pilots / current Velvet Revolver Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust David Draiman of Disturbed or Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses
  5. PM me with what you are asking for the KSP 400s.
  6. Don't have a working digi cam, but I'm proud of my little SB-1s. My girlfriend says they are cute and they are the best $100 investment I have ever made.
  7. The average consumer, which makes most of the Klipsch purchases doesn't want a pair $5000 monster speakers, they want small speakers to match their thin TVs. If Klipsch never made the Synergy line, I would gamble that they would have been out of business thanks to Bose and JBL long ago. Retailers know this too. You think retailers want to try to push a product that isn't gonna sell in large numbers? Without Best Buy carrying their speakers (which are the fastest selling speakers at the HT dept. at my local BB) I would bet that Klipsch wouldn't be where it is today. Companies have to give the majortity of the consumers what they want if they wanna stay in business for the higher end consumers.
  8. Well, I just made this an I'm pretty impressed with it. Though the xbox is kinda low-fi, the DACs aren't any worse than your average HTPC, and you do have the option of coax out. If you have one laying around, or can get one cheap, you can copy games to a hard drive in it, stream music, movies, and pics from your pc and internet, and watch dvd and cds. It requires a few things... Xbox, 10 and 20 torx screwdrivers, a large capacity hard drive, some way to copy game saves from your computer to your xbox, an ftp client, and a copy of 007 Agent Under Fire. Total cost to most people, $250. http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox.shtml
  9. Well, the Ogg Vorbis format uses an open souce codec that allows changes to be made as hardware and science are more understood. It seems to sound slightly better than an mp3 at the same bitrate.
  10. It's kind of cool that they can have enough cpu power in small mp3 players like these to use SRS effects, and still have room to decode Ogg files. I remember when my old Rio had enough power to play mp3s and wmas. No wav and no Ogg support.
  11. I recently picked up an iRiver T30 at Worst Buy. I see it has SRS on it, and I'm wondering if I can actually tweak it a bit to sound a little more like my speakers and alot less like my headphones. BTW I use Sennheiser HD497s with this incase it matters. I guess I'm kinda wondering what your impressions are of this stuff. If anybody who is a little more enlightened on audio than I am wants to trek over to their site and read about what this stuff is supposed to do, that would be great. It has SRS, Focus, TruBass, and some Boost thingy...
  12. Or transvestites named Harley. Not sure if they sell those...
  13. The first one is called a "Mothership" in weather slang. The second appears to be a wall cloud. The third is obviously a tornado, possibly from the previous formation?
  14. Yeah, well now I gotta balance money between my network, current car, my future RX-7, stereo, and a new bike.
  15. Vodka is cheap, therefore more money for speakers.

  17. Won't radiating it in all directions with sound bouncing off of every wall in the area destroy any type of imaging, effectively making everything sound mono-ish? But I guess you make more money when you sell two or more bad speakers that effectivly sound like one bad one than actually just selling one bad speaker. Those Bose researchers are amazing!
  18. OHH MAN, I can't stop listening to Guns N' Roses. I think there should be a genre called 'Guns N' Roses'. "November Rain" is the best song in existance!
  19. Well if you are gonna while about people that arem't building energy efficient homes, expect some criticism to your remarks. Most efficeintcy enhancements come at a steep price, which homebuilders either can't, or find it difficult to pay for. So maybe you should loan them money to do so and quit whining. Also, I wanna know what kind of car everybody drives. I drive a '95 Saturn SC1 that gets 36mpg hwy and 28 city, so I'm doing my part.
  20. Come on moon, our boy Farve's almost as old as you.
  21. $2.99 in central wisconsin here. We don't even get our gas from south, we get it from refineries around locally and get our crude from Canada...
