  1. Here's my input; he loves to chat, 18 yrs, ROTC college, likes electronics, isn't licensed. What more is there besides "fumes", perfume and gasoline!
  2. Good idea; I'll see if I can find a ham club nearby
  3. Thinking of getting my son a portable ham radio for Christmas, any suggestions for a hand held, brand, model, frequencies, etc. thanks,
  4. Since Amy never replied to my pm I'll ask everyone else; is it just me or whenever you click on the smiley face icon box you don't get access to all the available icons, ie all the icons aren't accessable because of the limited box area. I really miss my (martini).[] Cheers
  5. Your right about that. I've got four K43 KP's to stuff with too! Maybe after I get the Khorns finished I'll get around to building the sibling to JW's jamboree.
  6. Nice photo, but I know what's 180 degrees from those, La Scalas!
  7. No not yet. Got it home, put it in the garage and covered it up. I bought some Klipschorns soon after and have been spending my spare time refinishing those. You interested in it?
  8. Stupid of me, I wish I had taken a picture of the UPS guy driving that golf cart through the neighborhood.
  9. New veneer for starters. I've got some hickory, cherry and sapele to pick from. Rebuild the crossovers because I'm sure they're shot, and that's about all. They have the K42 EV woofers; big and heavy ones. I like the decorator style and they're ported even though these aren't as efficient as the other heresys, they should be able to handle some watts. I'll post up some progress pics. I'm working on my Khorn restoration now as well so I've got plenty to do.
  10. The Doc's a fine fellow indead, I must say; picked up a jamboree base bin at his home one afternoon, listened to some of his "techno" toons on his new La Scalas and headead south. A true Southern Gentleman for sure!
  11. Picked up a pair of H1E heresys from ebay today. UPS managed to deliver them (believe it or not in a golf cart pulling a trailer; its Christmas time; give em a break) undamaged all the way from Birmingham. Gonna be a nice restoration project. Looks like they've been through some heat as the top handle on one is a little distorted. Anyway any one have a schematic for the H1E crossover cause these will certainly need a rebuild? Here's a pic of the pair
  12. Ohio State, LSU to meet for the title [] GEAUX TIGERS!
  13. You inviting us all over for the game and the party?[<)]
  14. Me, I've got the turkey taking a brine bath tonight in prep for a date with the peanut oil hot tub tomorrow; sweet potato casserole with pecan topping, green bean casserole with those fried onions on top, corn bread dressing, oyster dressing, steamed apsaragus, creamed pearl onions, giblet gravy, cranberries, a few bottles of pino noir and pumpkin and pecan pie! MMmm good
  15. Me, I'm guessing LM has already set the moving date with Mayflower. I hope I'm wrong, but he's got that homing pigeon instinct working on him and if they wave enough green in his face he's long gone. I think Sabin was just expressing his disbelief in the fact that AL could lose to North East (that's what UL&M was called when I was at LA Tech). I don't think he was trying to make their loss a more significant event, just something that happened that one would never imagine. He better have a good recruiting season or he's gonna get the boot. That AL alumini won't stand for that kind of performance from a $4MM man! Those next two games for LSU got me kinda scared especially considering the way the Tigers have been playing lately. We'll see what happens Friday. [:S]
  16. An 8 year old boy was riding his bicycle in Bryan, Texas, when he saw his friend being attacked by a large pit bulldog. The boy jumped off his bike, ran and jumped on the dog's back. After prying the vicious animal's teeth from his young friend's body, he put the dog in a choke hold and held on until the dog was dead. The local newspaper editor happened to witness this feat and after calling for the ambulance on his cell phone, ran over to the young hero and said, "Son, that was one of the bravest things I have ever seen. You're going to make tomorrow's headlines. It will read: Texas A & M Fan is Hero; Risks His Life; Saves Young Friend From Vicious Pit Bull Attack. The youngster said, "That's nice, but I'm not a Texas A & M Fan". The editor said, "OK, then it will read: University of Texas Fan Saves Young Friend's Life in Pit-Bull Attack The young man said, "But I'm not a University of Texas fan." The editor said, "OK, then it will read: University of Houston Fan Saves Friend's Life. Once again the young man interrupted, saying, "I'm not a University of Houston fan, either." The editor, becoming somewhat irritated, asked, "Then, who is your favorite team?" The kid replied with a big smile, "LSU" The next morning, the local newspaper headlines read: "BELOVED FAMILY PET MURDERED BY LITTLE COONASS" Now dat's funny!
  17. I thought Russia was a poor country but not from the looks of his house! Beautiful work [D]
  18. And Ohio State tripped up by Illinois; The computers are going to be working overtime tonight!
  19. I've refinished two pair of decorator heresys. Both pair I followed the front up and over the top rather than sides to top. I think because the wood fronts on the decorator models is exposed this creates a better visual appearance. Course that's my opinion. [D]
  20. Not withstanding all the other advice you're likey to receive on this topic, let me give you the spin from one who has worked in the natural gas industry for over 25 years. First off, concerning the "gas is dangerous" thought; natural gas has a much safer record compared to electric; just look at the number of electrical fires that occur every day. Electical fires doesn't make the headlines because they happen so often no one pays attention. Gas is by nature a very safe fuel. The flamability limits are between 4 and 14 percent, a very narrow margin and gas has an odorant added to enable a person with a normal sense of smell the ability to detect the presense of gas at 1/5 the lower explosive limit. That's about a 1% gas to air ratio. And by the way you can't smell electricity. Unfortunately natural gas gets the big publicity if in the very rare occurance an explosion occurs. Natural gas furnaces today operate at efficiences of over 90%. Electric utilities one will say that electric is 100% efficient or with a heatpump over 100% but when you take into account the source efficiency (that's including the energy consumed to convert fossil fuels to electricity) electric resistant heat barely makes 30% because of energy losses to generate electricity and to distribute the power over the electric grid. You'll be hearing more and more about carbon emissions in the future. All fossil fuels emit carbon dioxide as a by product of combustion. C02 emitted from natural gas is the lowest level of fossil fuels including coal and oil. Because of more stringent regulations electric utilities are turning to natural gas to fuel power plants over coal and oil because of the emission restrictions and lower costs associated with constructing natural gas fired combustion turbine plants. But what you won't see happening is electric companies recommending you switch from electric to natural gas water heaters, dryers and furnaces to reduce the demand for natural gas which is more efficiently burned at the natural gas appliance than converting to electricity and then to heat. Bottom line, if your electric utility is generating all it's power requirements with nuclear, go electric, if not go Natural Gas; you'll extend a domestically produced energy source.
  21. I feel your pain. I won an ebay auction for a pair of Khorns myself sometime back only to find that the seller was selling the same pair twice. Thanks to a forum member I did not lose any money on the sale. I was able to find another pair, just takes some patience. I'd say the market is down right now so you may be able to get a good price if someone puts another pair on the market. Patience will pay off. [D]
  22. Me too, me too! tell us how you did it. [D]
