  1. yep, and set it horizontaly. there won t be a better match with your SF1 and SP1 than another SF1 or SP1.
  2. i would say that being and audiophile doesn t match easily with family life or with neighbours
  3. it s quiet hard to set several subs exept if they are stacked at only one place... with 2 subs the bass are more powerfull but if the subs aren t placed well bass are not clear and sharp. have you a methode to place several sub at the right place if they are not stacked?
  4. plug your speakers to your amp set to the min. then turn up your amp slowly to the listening volume. if you don t send too much power to your speakers it would be ok. normaly you won t have to send 150W to your speakers. if the sound is distorded or if something sounds bad turn the amp volume down. the KSS2 caracteristics are:65 watts maximum continuous (260 watts peak) so a KSS 4 should accept at least the same power. so if you don t turn your amp too loud it won t damage anything.
  5. you re right, there is already a pream on all the promedia. the preamp of the promedia allows to set the sub volume for all the promedia, the rear volume(not for the 2.1) and the center volume(only for the 5.1). a real preamp will allow you to set more sharply your promedia. but is it usefull?promedia reproduce quiet good what you send to them.the only problem is that the sub is may be a little bit too powerfull regarding to the sat for the 2.1.it can be solve with the original preamp in the control pod. adding a separate preamp is usefull is the source has a specific timbre or if you want to change the timbre of your speaker(i bet it is not for this, i m sure you would not bought some klipsch ) you can try,it won t damage anything. tell us about your tests
  6. are you sure??? look at that point in what you read: 3.4 Surround placement for DVD-Audio listening the diagram with the circle is the ideal placement. each speakers at the same distance and pointing to you. the other placement are made to solve some placement problems because only few people can place their speakers on a circle in a sqare room.
  7. what does 'french at heart' means?? if you have any other question don t hesitate to ask me again
  8. i bet the pop problem exists with almost all sub...
  9. i have the same problem with mine... with my promedias(5.1 and 2.1), when i cut the promedia with the power switch on the back of the sub instead of the switch on the control pod, it also make a big pop, like my ksw10.... i m thinking about letting the sub always on with the auto on active.i ve noticed that the ksw10 dosn t pop when it stop itself.
  10. if you put something on a sub or a speaker, it could make some stain because of the light.so if you put something on a speaker, move the thing sometime to avoid any trace due to light.
  11. a little question qman: my girl friend scream because i have some little speakers from the synergy serie, she will kill me if i had as much and so big speakers in our living room so are you married? if you are, I bet your wife has not heard yet about the WAF.
  12. your rears may be too close from the wall. all speakers in promedia 4.1 are the same(except the sub of course ) so all channel should sound the same way:good.
  13. for the best results rears should point on you. if you set them as effect speakers with your sound card that s may be why they not sound really good...
  14. i think you should orient them with some toe in, in order they point on you. if your floor is hardwood you should place something like a carpet on the floor between you and the speakers in order to reduce the reflections. for the distance between the speakers and the wall...i think it should be a distance but i don t know how much centimetres...you should make some tests so you ll place the speakers where they sound the best for you.
  15. if the sound coming out from the rear sat is not as good as the one coming from the front sattelites, your rear sattelites are not placed correctly or the way you feed them is not the good way, because rear and front sattelites are exactly the same.
  16. if you want to place some sb or sf directly next to a wall it will deform their frequency response.(you can do this if you like bass or if you haven t enought money to buy a sub). the ss are made to be against a wall. the best is to have the same speakers for exemple 5 or 6 sb3 if there not enought place for 5 or 6 sf2. don t forget, for these speakers there must be some inches or some feet between them and a wall. the most important factor what will or won t make sound good your system is the room where it would be and the way you will place it.so no need to buy some good speakers if you cannot set them correctly.
  17. if your room is small like mine, i think sf1 are enought. the SF2 have just a little bit more bass than the SF1,i mean that the bass are a little bit more powerfull. that s why i got only the sf1. and it don t mean that the sf1 havn t bass:in my small room(about 20m²) the sub is almost useless(exept when there are lfe effects on a dvd under 40Hz, for all the remain frequencies sf1 reproduce very well the sound). if you want to save some bucks go for the sf1, if you think you will have a room for HT larger than 25 or 30m² go for something bigger like the sf2(i think it worth not buying the SF3) or speakers from the rf serie(rb or rf above the 15, the little sattelites couldn t be as good as a real speaker)...
  18. mdeneen, i can see that you are fond of old european cars... i hope your having fun with them. if your looking for a good sport car from renault try the R8 gordini or even better: an alpine a110!!!
  19. mdeneen, were have you found a such car??even in france it s quite hard to find a renault dauphine... it s a funny car try to stay on the road with it
  20. why not buying some JMLAB speakers: a HT with speakers from the utopia line,6 grande utopia Be for example. according to a lot of specialist the best speakers of the world(may be also the most expansive about 80,000$ a pair!!) and it s french
  21. with 1000000$...i think i have a trip to the usa in order to buy some klipsch speakers in a cheaper way, because in france it s very very expensive(the rf are too expensive for my girl friend ). then i ll buy a big house in france with a room only for HT.
  22. if you realy cannot put some SF for surrounds you could place some SS a little toward the place you will seat. that how my system is setup in a small room and it works good for dvd. for music i only use the mains.
  23. be carrefull you can encode some mp3 in different way: with the same bit rate there is the fast encode option and the high quality(wich take about twice time more to encode). a 128 kbps in high quality sounds better than a 160 in fast. i use mp3 at 160 or 192kbps in high quality and the sound is good.i could notice the different between an original cd and a mp3 at 192 on only very few songs that i know very well. if you have good prices on cd R the best (simplier, faster, better quality)is to burn a copy.
  24. i hope all is totaly crystal clear for you now. in order to enjoy totaly your promedia don t forget too place it really carrefully: speakers pointed to your listening position and sub in a corner of your room. i wish you will enjoy your promedia speakers, they are realy good speakers for the money they cost. i really leave now. as i said before if you need some help you can e-mail me or send me a message on my forum box. see you...
  25. i wait for some minutes more,i ve some work remaining, and then i leave. if you you have a question you can have an answer...if you are fast enought
