My Name Is Matthew And I Am A Klipsch ADDICT!!!!
Ironsave replied to Ironsave's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Coincidentally; I am learning and implementing these steps for real...... Life has never been better...... (Me too drinky...... )..... [Y] -
Which sub to reccomend..... What is your budget? The ideas mentioned (Danley; Horn loaded; etc) are all great suggestions. If you desire a ported or sealed sub; there are great offerings there as well...... (Again; how much do you want to spend?) Epik; Hsu; SVS; Velo; Elemental Designs; etc...... All have really good offerings....... I love my Emotiva; but for K Horns? I don't think so..... (It kept up with Pro Cornwalls; but you probably want something MUCH more powerful than 300w RMS for your application). Good Luck.

One More. Yes, those are the spots that were sanded. I also note slight grill discoloration at the top of one. I think a good bath in soapy water is in order........ These will look great in a week. Trust me! -
KG 2s $100. Walnut. Could not resist. Solid 8 when purchased; already closer to 9...... (Dustcaps and a few water or oil stains that sanded out well). Now to oil them and get them in the bedroom...... Woo Hoo!!!!!

Allrighty then! Thanks for the input.......

Dan, I echo the above sentiments. You could get by without one for some music; but for HT it is a must. Good Luck.

Guys, I have a set of JBL L 36 speakers that I currently power using my '70s HK 430 "Twin Powered" receiver in the bedroom. They sound really good; but they are too big for the bedroom....... (They are almost a foot taller than my Heresy Is). KG 2s are up for sale locally in Walnut. I intend to jump on this if possible; but have one reservation....... KG 2s are 4 ohm speakers. Will this cause an issue with the HK 430? Can it handle this load successfully with no effects? (I would hate to shorten it's life or clip the KGs) All opinions welcome. Thanks.

Late to this thread....... You may wish to try "small" if the poineer lets you set the Xover at 40 hz. (May or may not) That way, you get almost all of the low frequency; without trying to play the 32hz-20hz stuff your speakers can't. Once you become familiar with the receiver menus; this change will take a few minutes to try and a few more to put back to compare. Play something you are very familiar with; (I like to use Tusk by Fleetwood Mac).... so you can concentrate on the subtle differences. Good Luck; and welcome to the Klipsch Madness.......... []

Yep. You wll wind up spending more over 2 years than you do if you save for a month and get the Emo...... (Unless you can find something comparable used; I say save up also). Good Luck.

Groom, I wish I had advice for ya; but I don't. The only thing I can say is that Paradigm sub looks to be of the *** kicking type that would definitely be able to bring it when necessary. I would love to have that sub......... Good Luck!

I was considering this last year. I instead purchased an Emotiva Ultra 12 and have not looked back. (It was $359 shipped). Good Luck.

I recently scored a Definitve Technology Supercube III subwoofer for $50!!!! (This routinely fetches $300+ on Ebay). I listed it on Ebay with a low reserve and we shall see what the final price will be. I A-B tested this versus my Emotiva..... The Emo wins for musicality; the Def Tech is great in HT.

Waaz makes many excellent points. I too bought every speaker I own used. (and my receiver) HIs $250 SS-3s $120 KV4 $165 HK AVR 7300 $225 JBL L36s $6.99 each +30 for refoaming Infinity Interlude 120s $120 (Another 12" sub) Definitive Technology Supercube III $50 Speakers that family now owns: KG 2s $80 KG 3s $80 (I think, do not remember) The only speaker I bought new was my Emotiva Ultra 12 sub for $359 new.

Heresy II: KP-201's just purchased, a few questions please
Ironsave replied to Dingman's topic in Technical/Restorations
The other speakers (KSB 1.1s were they?) will be ok for surrounds. Not excellent; but ok.... I am using SS3s for surrounds and they work really well with the Heresy Is I have. The center channel is much more important. (Along with a good sub). Enjoy! PS.... I apologize; forgot to say Welcome to The Forum! -
Nice cab. (exquisite). Too bad the rest does not have the right components....... Good Luck with whatever you do with it......

Heresy II: KP-201's just purchased, a few questions please
Ironsave replied to Dingman's topic in Technical/Restorations
Congrats on the speakers! They look beautiful and kinda mean all at once. (I am a Heresy nut; can you tell?) Yes you could use those other speakers as surrounds, but you will want a more timbre matched center. (KLF C7, Academy or KV 4 will all provide good to great results; or a 3rd Heresy which is the best option actually; but hardest to accomidate for many). As for formatting; what OS and browser do you use? I use Windows XP and 7 with IE 8 and formatting is WYSIWYG. If using a mac; or cell phone; it often will not support this formatiing. Good Luck! -
I think FIN means Finish. Black Academey speakers often sell for a bit less than other finishes.

Amp causing terrible scratchy pop in speakers HELP!!!...

Brunt, I suspect you have found the culprit.... -
Klipsch $20,000 39F vs $8,000 37F-woofer and MDF? What?

Sorry dude; it was aimed at the OP. My bad if you felt it was towards you..... [:$] -
Amp causing terrible scratchy pop in speakers HELP!!!...

If you get no cracking unbridged...... You either need to run them as 50wpc single; or yeah.... different amps. (Or accept the possibility of damaging speakers). I seriously would contact the manufacturer........ -
Talk me out ... or confirm this Icon KF System (mostly)

+1. Do not use nails. I was unable to find the studs near the position I wanted, so I used drywall anchors. (I have Klipsch SS 3s; kind of similar). 1.5 years and the achors are going strong; even after I have had kitties jump on them; etc. If you are buying new, I think they will come with a template for mounting. Use a level and viola! Good Luck. -
Klipsch $20,000 39F vs $8,000 37F-woofer and MDF? What?
Ironsave replied to CiscoKid123's topic in Home Theater
You are correct. They are. It would be called the "money is no object audiophile". (This has been mentioned twice already in this thread). If they did not make this "flagship" speaker; everyone would be complaining why don't they! Remember that Klipsch is in this to MAKE MONEY. The P39 cabinets might be more time intensive to make. I am betting many MANY hours of testing and research went into these; and the cost must be recouped somehow. There are likely other reasons as well for the big jump from $12,000 to $20,000. Yes; it is $4000 more per speaker. As mentioned; 3db improvement is equal to doubling the watts going to the speakers. If I can drop $20,000 or even $12,000 on a set of speakers; I am likely doing very well financially; and can afford the step up if I want to. Again..... They could be charging DOUBLE THE PRICE. Look at other manufacturer's flagship series and you will see........ -
Glad your sub is working...... It could be the wire was bad; or perhaps the female jack on the sub or receiver is slightly flaky. My rule; if it isn't broken; do not fix it...... (I would not mess with it unless further issues arise). Good Luck.

Amp causing terrible scratchy pop in speakers HELP!!!...
Ironsave replied to Brunt's topic in Home Theater
No...mostly because unbridged drops wattage to 50w. Beechnut may have a point....... Perhaps the popping is due to your configuration...... (Again; this could be a grounding issue). I suggest trying them unbridged to see if the symptoms disappear in this configuration........ -
Klipsch $20,000 39F vs $8,000 37F-woofer and MDF? What?
Ironsave replied to CiscoKid123's topic in Home Theater
Do you guys realize this is the cost of diminishing returns? Klipsch could easily price these for $24,000 and $40,000 respectively. (This would be more in line with their competitor's rates). If you can't justify $20,000 for speakers; DO NOT BUY THEM! Buy the P37s! HK charged ~$2500 for an AVR 7300 back in '05-'06. The next step down was ~$1500. For only 20 wpc difference and a few surround modes? How is that unfair? I would never pay $1500, less $2500; but I waited and got my AVR 7300 used for $225. This thread needs to be shot and put to rest........
