  1. You know it's summer and everybody's waiting for Friday when they start talking about booze mid-week! Sarge, german beer you lucky dog. For those who have never experienced it, the beer in Germany is one of life's greatest treats. Especially Weissbier (wheat beer) Cool suggestions, heard about those $90 amps. Anybody heard one yet? Anybody else going to help me spend those ducats?
  2. Hope they post a good recipe in the Food Section!
  3. I wish I could have fun like that at work! Great story.
  4. Great links Less. Looks like the twins will have to be buying me dinner because I'm going to be spending all my money on new tunes! Oh yes, and by popular demand, the twins will be making a reappearance this Friday night. Keep your dial tuned to 2 Channel for the further the adventures of hapless thebes, Tawny and Tickles! Glad to see that site carries Concrete Blonde's latest. Just saw them in concert two weeks ago. Seen them five times and Jonette was in rare form that night. Awesome.
  5. Hey Slammin, check in Friday night when the twins will ride again! Great suggestions Richard. Anybody else?
  6. That's right one hundred buckaroos, Not saying I do (don't want to get mugged on the way home) what would I spend it on? Simple rules, must be audio gear, preferably for a 2 Channel setup. Be creative, multiple items accepted. All right fellow cheapskates, let's stretch those dollars.
  7. That's why I always travel with a can of tuna fish in my backback. good one Paul.
  8. ......dameonpayne,johnbc,scooterdog,hooting_monkey,BobbyT,Synthfreak,Maynard42,ssh,RichardP,Cluless,middlegreekguy,TommyC RBM,Hornpenguin,DMK,Larryclare and others have all stopped by and contributed to the Members Weekly Recommendations down in Entertainment/ DVD/Music. Every week there's an ongoing place to share your musical finds with your fellow forum members. Don't think it might be worth a sperate thread, put it there. Got a new one you think some people might enjoy, put it there. Yes we have a variety of music styles and listening tastes we listen to, but let's face it we are always on the hunt for a new tune to play, a new group or even an oldy we forgot we liked. I purchased several new cd's based on members suggestions and haven't been disappointed. You can also count on any suggestions coming out of this forum to be very well recorded. Don't forget you've got to feed those big beasts we call speakers a regular diet or they get grumpy. So drop on down and drop in a tune.
  9. The Flectones sounds like a pretty cool recommendation. Just for your info I went to their website and it's also avialble on cd. The play list doesn't mention anything about interviews so it's probably just pure music without the interuptions. Thanks
  10. It's a new week and while we are not really growing this as well as I'd like its still a good place to share some good tunes with your fellow Forum Members. Don't worry though, I'm working on a couple of things that may perk interest up so please keep stopping by. Rules are simple: Name of Individual/Group, Title, type of music as best you can (rock, classic etc.) and weather its's a cd, lp etc. My suggestion for this week is Sara K "Play on Words" . A cd that I would probably categorize as "smooth" jazz. Put out by the fine folks at Checky Records, one of the songs "History Repeats Itself" is used on Sterophile's TEst CD #3.
  11. Man those Jolida's look so cool. Very Art Deco. Never heard them but just by looking at the thought that went into the visuals that there is some serious sound coming out of those puppies. Congrats. PS The transformers on jt1stcav look like a Manhatten skyline from the '30's.
  12. Thanks, Frank for the suggestion. I do like some, not all, latin music and tend to shy away from the dance stuff, but flamenco, love ballads and some of the newer chicano stuff like Los Loney boys is great. Your suggestion has been officially entered onto my next shopping list, to be executed soon. I'd love to see her house too! There a phtoo retrospective on her at one of the museums here in Washington, hope to get to see it before it leaves. Frida by the way is very well recorded and the last song called "Burning Bed" is the only number in English. The lead singeron this track sounds just like the lead singer in "It's a Beautiful Day" a group from the '60's.
  13. Hey Audio,43, you call that old. I got corns on my feet older then that. Yup, used to walk 12 miles to school uphill both ways. Congrats to a fellow Leo. I hit the big double-nickel tomorrow.
  14. Since I started this thread I can't get Country Joe and the Fish's' biggest hit out of my head. You know: It's one, two three, what are we............ Ok gang, finish it up for me! Oh yeah and was that instrument they played throughout the song: Zephyer, Zoofer???
  15. I know Juba and skonopa are here and I also know they know their tunes. My changer's on fourth of only five disks. Need something to fill it back up with.
  16. ....the sound track from the movie: Frieda This has probably been in regular rotation on my system for at least two months. Most soundtracks come up short for me because they are slaves to the movie and are chock full of "filler" needed to drive the movie, not the music. Frida actually does a lot of this, yet never tires me out or make me want to hit the "forward" button to get to the next tune. Anybody else heard this soundtrack?
  17. I literally lucked into Woodstock. Couple of close friends called me on Thursday and said we're going to a rock concert downstate tomorrow (I'm originally from Syracuse, NY -our motto-anything south of us is downstate). Next day we pile into a car and head out. Get off for gas and ask the attendant how do we get to Yeager's Farm. 20 minutes later, all on back roads, we bypass a 20 mile logjam of traffic heading to the concert and we're there. Had no beer, no buzz and maybe a bag of potato chips and some sleeping bags. 3 days later we're hungery, tired, hung-over, wasted and almost transformed. A seminal moment in my life(and most likely the watershed of that whole era). So glad that music was a central part of that whole happening. but I digress, anybody remember, you know, that song......
  18. You mean they made more then 3 eight tracks? 3 for 3, not bad. What! Nobody here likes Country, Joe and Fish? Put your teeth in later. we're having a Parteeeeeeee! PS. Look at any picture of Woodstock and you'll find me. I'm the one with long hair sitting in the mud.
  19. Dean we all travel the same road but travel different highways nad byways 'till we meet again. Keep on truckin man, maybe just not to the Sha Na'Na's! Are you feeling it yet, big amps and massive guitar licks, sense and sensibility, Free Love (could very well be the reason I signed up) and don't Bogard that Joint, my friend.. Whats playing on your 8 track?
  20. Josh, bar none the finest lineup of music ever assembled on any stage. Nobody's even mentioned Crosby Stills, Nash and Young yet. Big, large, honkin speakers were invented sounds liek these. Let's Parteeeee! People.
  21. Damn, Dean. Life is so bittersweet at times. Nothin more to say on that because offering solace can never really ease the pain. Hope you liked the music, though. Suspect you do.
  22. Thanks for everything Rick. Funk will never die, not a slong as you and so many others are still on plastic. An urban groove you could dance to, beats the crap out of rap.
  23. August 14, 15, and 16, 1969. I was there were you? The Twins are out of town at a manicurists convention, but they'll be back soon. Until they are let's have a Woodstock Party! Here's a link to the lineup for the Festival. http://home.columbus.rr.com/woodstock1969/real_sch.html Launched with Richie Haven. His Freedom still sends chills down my spine. Ended with Jimmie Hendrix. Nothing like Jimmie stirring you out of your sleeping bag in the early hours with his version of the Star Spangled Banner. So what are you bringing to the parteeeeeee! Doesn't have to be a band from the Festival, only something that fits in with "three days of Peace and Love". All right you bunch of hippies, let's get down!
  24. Good for you Daddy. This month's Consumer Reports actually rates the McAfee below Norton, but you're own experience would tend to argue against that conclusion. Another thing that may help speed up your computer is anti-spyware. If the McAfee doesn't have it try Lavasoft Ad-Aware. It's free and works quite well.
  25. My feeling is that we are all just constructs created by fini for his own amusement. He did a very good job though, because we actually think we are real. He just rubbing our noses in the fact that he has already conquered.
