Good thing I don’t listen to the same tone all day long and live in the valleys.  But if you watch the above videos on engineering music you’ll understand that modern engineering takes advantage of stereo bass and accounts for you mono heads.

What are the 'Advantages' of a 'Stereo' bass?

Bass and low frequencies are not directional and the 'snap shot' of the output and phase issues I posted are indeed of one frequency... not ONLY indicative of One frequency. they are a snap shot after all... But I would have thought that would be apparent.

comb filtering, phase issues don't change or reduce with frequency, they still occur... what changes is the shape of the interference patterns... but they are still there

  2. I hope, given your ability to build a network and replace a diaphragm, that you didnt think that room placement and clocking would solve a distortion issue...

The idea of  horn coloration is a non sequitur in my humble opinion when it comes to the La Scala or Klipschorn.

    Haas Effect?

This is your multi source bass when summed correctly @63hz... Placed within a 1/4 wave length of each other.

    Low frequencies are Omni-Directional

This is your multi source bass, ON CRACK, when they are not summed and placed in a 'STEREO' layout @63Hz... you tell me which one should sound better.

The reason I ask that with tailboards you reduce the area by the 3/4" tailboards.  I have tailboards on my pre tailboard Khorns and before I remove to test them I thought I would ask the question.  It likely it is negligible with good corners.

that's not how they are constructed...

they are slightly wider at the 'hat' area allowing for the enclosure to maintain the internal volumetric area.

  5. I'd have to question a local artist being able to generate 50k on a single piece regardless of size... that is a pretty elite territory in terms of valuation.

A lot of WELL KNOWN artists can't get to that point.

Generally, a local artist is priced in a category known as 'decorative'... and that segment is normally priced very reasonably.  If the artist has had any major shows or has a quantifiable auction history, then it is much easier to figure out a range of value.

Depending on medium and size, I can probably guess what a range for a piece might be... but that is still no guarantee you would ever make money or even be able to hold value.

A acrylic 24x32 might be in the 900-2500 range for an unknown and this is being generous.

Does this person have a body of work?

Remember when buying Art... buy what you like and not what you think others might like, because at this level you are not 'investing'.

In lieu of much more expensive recommendations, for now I just replaced the k77 with the Selenium d220ti and the Faital sth100 horns.

First off, the d220ti has a sensitivity of about 112db/watt in the tweeter bandpass above 5k. So you must make sure you pad it down at least 8db to match the sensitivity of 104db/watt of the k77 for a pair of khorns.

The d220ti is orders of magnitude smoother than the k77. By comparison, the k77 simply sounds raspy compared to the d220ti and faital horn. Initially it sounds like their is no high end on the 220/Faital combo but it is there, just a hell of alot cleaner without the raspiness.

Now, part of that raspiness impression might be due to the fact that the faital horn will play frequencies down to 1.5k and the k77 horn unloads below 6k.

Therefore, the sounds coming out of the faital horn cover a much broader low end range than the k77 horn and matches the voicing of the midrange horn exceptionally well so the sound between the 2 drivers blend into 1 coherent source.

I have a pair of baby cheek horns, those that were on the beyma cp25 that I'll be testing the drivers on, but regardless I think the faital is a superior horn since it's a tractrix. But part of the lush sound of the cp25 may have been due to the horn as well. I'll find out soon enough.

Regardless, replacing the k77 with the d220ti/faital combination is a very significant upgrade in the overal sound for just $300.

What does that have to do with OP's old question about a bass bin comparison in where one that generates distortion and one that controls Inter dist?

I have bought some Cornwall 4s and I'm on a Yamaha R-N1000a amp 100x2 at 8ohms. I tried a cheap Fosi with a DAC and a 3050 NAD. Out of those 3 the Fosi had the best bass but it wasn't that clean.

    Thanks!

if your ear is really tuned into what 'clean' is (many people do not), you're not going to find it in a Cornwall IV... the CWIV has output in the LF region, not cleanliness. It's a case of More not being better... but that is a subjective choice for each listener.

Direct Radiating large format drivers have a lot of Distortion...
