  1. If I take this step, I would purchase a third amp (mono) to power the center. If the center is tied from the right and left channel taps (fronm a 2 channel amp) what effect does that have on the stereo effect? One of the mini box's seem to be the way to go, or not? How does the corns work as a center? Regards, Roy
  2. I was wondering what the advantage's were? Is it worth the cost of the upgrade? Sound stage improvements or degrades? Did you fabricate the mini box, or did your pre have a center output? In general what do you see is the up as well as the down side? Regards, Roy
  3. Hello all, I am thinking about adding a Belle or scalla as a third (center) speaker. Looking at The Dope from Hope vol. 14, no. 4 (July 1974), and am thinking that it something I want to dink with. Anyone using this set up? I am using K horns and valves, see system profile for system details. Input, experiences ect welcomed . What say ye? Regards, Roy
  4. I use Tice power blocks, and have had good results with them. I will not set up a system without power reg/protect. Some will claim that there is no advantage to the technology. For thouse of us that see the benifit of the addition of conditioning systems most would not be without it. There are alot of brands out there, but I would search Audiogon and ebay for a good deal. Regards, Roy
  5. Make sure that the tubes are REMOVED fromthe units. Pack each tube ALONE, then buble wrap and peanut them in a double box. Shoping for new tubes is costly and painful, not to mention the burn in time. Enjoy the new Mistress. Roy
  6. Seller emailed that he has sold them. Anyone from here?
  7. I see a pair od oiled walnut Belles in CA listed on ebay. Anyone interested in splitting them? I am looking for a Oiled walnut center speaker. Roy[
  8. Check out the Scott 222 over on Audiogon. Nice looking unit with cabnet and extra valves. Roy
  9. Hello all, Just noticed that a newly listed 22 is on audiogon for $275.00 or best. Looks sweet with lots of extra valves. Anyone looking? I have no applicaion for it, but if you do this could be a rare find. Regards, Roy
  10. I prefer the sound of 300B tubes. Many (I am one of them) think that they are the best tube for audio. I have used them in SET as well as PP amps. I prefer the SET sound, but like the PP punch. I found that I had on loan (at one time or another)all the tube amps offered by our local hifi retailer. That made a big step toward making my decision as to which type of amp and tube to use. Good luck and have fun rooling. Roy
  11. Blacksmith, You have mail. regards, Roy
  12. Blacksmith, Let me know, I can ship the next day. Roy
  13. I would keep the emails (all of them) and send them to ebay. They can suspend the selling rights if they should desire. I would also leave feedback for this seller. Maybe not all his items are as described? Could be the reason he wants NO contact? I for one welcome folks to pick up items that I am selling, saves me the hassel, and less chance of damage. Sounds like seller remorse to me. Royster
  14. I will be listing 2 phono cartridges in the next week. I would like to offer them to the folks here first. (1). Grado Reference Platinum with less than 1 hour. This was my back up Cartridge. I will sell it for $175.00 plus shipping. (2). Van Alstine long horn. Less than 100 hours use. Was aquired in a trade. Sounds great. Does not work well with record clamps, the "long horng" will hit the clamp. I would like $60.00 for it. regards, Roy
  15. Sorry puter wnt nuts and tripped the post.
  16. CONGRATS!!! A new wheel is always something magical! If the cart. works then fine, it is a great bonus. If not use it as a core deposit for upgrade. I bought a Lyra helikon that was trshed for $150.00 and got $800.00 trade in allowance from Lyra. Enjoy the new gear, I love to see others that are spinng circles. regards, Roy
  17. Did anyone check theses out? Ebay item #3094654381 Nice, but not close too me. And I don't $1,500 would go for something other than the Big K.
  18. I would agree that if sound quality is not important to you, do not utilize a power conditioner. But then again why not use a 9 volt powered radio? It is much like the old addage for puters "Garbage in = garbage out". Try a local hifi store, most will let you take one for a few days top demo in your system.
  19. I use Tice power blocks, but have used the ps audio power ststions in the past, and I am a true convert. I use them for all my front end, but not for the power amps (posible to starve the amp? maybe), but I think the system sounds better feeding the power amps from the outlets. Made a huge inprovement in noise floor. Buy the best you can afford, Monster is better than natta, but not real smooth or clean. I have a Tice power block if anyone is interested. Would rater offer it here first. I am sure you will notice inprovements any way you go. regards, Roy
