  1. I've got a fantastic recipe for grilled chicken... oops, wrong thread...or IS it? [6]
  2. Oh, and "yellowboy" is back http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-Klipschorn-floorstanding-loudspeakers-Walnut_W0QQitemZ5463070918QQcategoryZ72829QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem He's got TWO listings this time.
  3. Did you notice that not all the pics are of the same speakers? The main picture has the Klipsch badge on top left (new model??) and the other pics have the badge located a bit more traditionally in the lower center of the top section. Just an observation. I sent him (both) an email. The "real" seller, I sent an email to let him know and the apparent seller (with email in listing), I told him I'd fly there with my company (airlines) and needed to know where he was so I could plan my flight. guess we'll see if he even answers.
  4. I've owned LaScalas for about 25 years now and a pair of Khorns for about 1 year. I'd say the LaScalas will give you a solid punch in the sternum (with appropriate power). The Khorns will give you the same punch, it just happens to be connected to George Foreman's arm. Neither one will shake the foundation of the house (like a sub might do) but what they do have, it's prodigious, clean and absolutely gut wrenching. All that is said when I was using 120x2 solid state. I've tried a SET amp and those won't give you the same punch so part of the equation might be how much horsepower you're pumping through them. Same thing with my Khorns, I had those attached to a 2A3, then SE-OTL's. I later fed them with another solid state amp and it was like listening to an entirely different speaker (as far as slam goes).
  5. Is the engine bay REALLY that clean or have they just cleverly hidden all the plumbing? Would the production model be that tidy?
  6. I'm well aware that dbx disks would be "analog". I also have zero interest in starting (or restarting as it may be) another format in vinyl. I'm familiar with the technology, how it worked and had a 224 unit plumbed into my Akai 747 GX open reel for years (as well as a handful of their disks) What I was REALLY more interested in hearing is from the vinyl "purists" (and I say that in a positive way). If you are a vinyl purist, first... are you familiar with the dbx records? If so, did you own them and what is your opinion of those as a format, over "standard" vinyl? I guess what I'm wondering is, from the 'purists' point of view, is the dbx/disk technology a step forward or a step back. I could see it argued either way and was curious on your thoughts. Again, I use the word 'purist' in a positive sense.
  7. I'm currently flipping through ebay (gloating on the demise of "Al's" speakers), looking at dbx items and stumbled across some lp's. I then remembered the difference I heard between dbx disks verses regular disks. Even though the selection of records (dbx encoded) was not very high... I'm just curious if you (current vinyl lovers) ever heard dbx encoded lp's and what you think/thought about a dbx disk verses "regular" vinyl? Would you replace your entire collection with dbx disks if they were available or would you RUN away (for what ever reasons) from dbx disks? I guess what I'm leading to is, what is your opinion on the differences in sound between a regular record and a dbx disk (presuming same recording). Would you consider a dbx encoded disk "analog"? or would you put it more into the camp of a cd?. Seems to me, it's somewhere in the middle?
  8. No disrespect intended Gil, but I agree with Dean. Simpy TOO many scumbags out there trying to fleece someone. Again, reminding that I'm a non violent type... I'd have little issue seeing "these people" (as defined as a thief who is using various innocent ingredients for purpose of baking their cake of deception... aw heck, I might apply it to ANY thief, why limit it to ebay) Anyways, I'd have no qualms in an old fashioned public canning. I understand (via Meagain) that when ebay terminates a listing the lister isn't charged. Frankly I think that's too bad. I think if ebay upheld their listing charges (after all, wasn't that part of the sevice rendered?) some of the idiots might go away. not all, but some.
  9. lol, I was hoping someone would do that. The guy either knows he's been found out or is salivating his dentures out...
  10. What can happen? If he has negative motives, who's to say that MY motives aren't even MORE negative? I'd love to break his kneecaps and I'm a non-violent person. We'll know for sure, IMHO, if he responds to my email. He will either NOT answer or he will find some reason to NOT allow me to pick them up. I was dealing with another scammer and the guy (listing now booted off ebay) wanted $4,200 for a pair of Khorns. He said that was the final price, shipping included and they'd be to me in TWO days using the USPS. his very next sentence was asking for MY name/address because he had to calculate shipping for me. Hmm... why calculate shipping if it's already included? Also, I didn't know my local mailman would bring me a pair of Khorns in two days? I guess these guys know more than I do. [A]
  11. I just sent him a message. Al, if nothing else, you can rest in comfort knowing that NO ONE will lose a dime on this misrepresentation. With my bid on them capped at $10,000, it would take a fools fool to outbid me. With that said, I'm going to try to have some fun at his expense (since I can't get to his legs to "Palmerize" his kneecap) Hey Man! I work for the airlines and can travel for free, other than paying tax!. I'll personally be comeing by to pick them up so I will need your address. I'll have cash with me. Is it better to come by on the weekend or is during the week better? I'm retired so I can get there any day of the week that is better for you. Are they currently hooked up like they look? I'll bring some music and before I leave with them we can jam!! What kind of amp do you use? I'd hate to blow your amp with some of my music... you DO like disco I hope? Sure looks like you do with your disco decor...
  12. 5461806159 There's a $1,200 pair of scam Khorns on ebay now too... I'm working on those (again). either ebay is having problems or my pc is. Al's scam pops up for me, then says "auction closed", it will pop up again, or again show closed. The above listing will not let me bid , telling me "System Problem Sorry, we are experiencing a technical problem. Please click the Back button of your browser and try again. " pfft... I'll keep trying. Bottom line to Al... We got your network! (back... well, in my case, both [])
  13. Whoo hoo... PARTY AT AL'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love being an instigator
  14. awww...auction ended. Damn...I've NEVER been successful buying ANYTHING for "Brutus_rulz_McIntosh".... dang it anyways... [A]
  15. I just put a $10,000 bid on them under a different name (Brutus_rulz_mcintosh). Same thing happned to me with the VERY McIntosh I just bought (MC-2102). guy was showing off the box/amp...and showed the serial number, stolen from the real seller, that's now in my house. Anyways... when I come by to pick these up...do I get the fancy networks too? [6] [6]
  16. I just emailed the (appartent) idiot about a local pickup. Said I lived in Seattle. I've got NO idea now big of an issue it is from Seattle to Ankorage but ... I doubt it really matters. []
  17. Ya...I've seen him before myself. I just think that if someone was wanting to buy/sell a pair that having these boxes would HAVE to make the whole thing go a bit smoother?
  18. for anyone selling Khorns (Tigerwood???) or contemplating buying them... might be a good idea to snag them, then have original boxes to ship/protect them in. Tigerwood... have you sold yours? I'm not affiliated with the seller at all...just thought it might make someone selling their TIGERWOOD Khorns a tad easier? [] http://cgi.ebay.com/Empty-cardboard-KLIPSCHORN-boxes_W0QQitemZ5853259692QQcategoryZ61378QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. A McIntosh MC-275 has 2 KT-88's per channel and puts out 75 watts/channel. The MC-2102 puts out 100 watts/channel but, has FOUR KT-88's per channel. Why does it take double the tubes to get a 33% gain in output? Is it "detuned" a bit ?
  20. Just curious if that looks 100% "accidental" like Thurman's trip into Ben was? Kimo's arm is wrapped and shoulder BURIED at his knee DOES make me wonder...but as I've said, I'm willing to belive it was an accident (just as Ben's knee incident was). All that said, I think this one was at minimum worthy of a penalty flag just like Thurman received on his trip into Ben. []
  21. I might add that my father was born & raised in Findlay (Ben's hometown) and I grew up going there all the time to visit my Grandfather. I attended Miami of Ohio(same as Ben). In fact my last year at Miami was the first year of their new stadium. Up until the new stadium was built, they had as I recall, the second oldest stadium in the nation. I've been a BIG fan of Ben's and hope he does well...as long as it's 2nd place to Cincy. I don't wish ANY ill-will on him (or any other in fact..... except those moron scammers on ebay but that's a different thread). [6]
  22. I've read (as opposed to being told in the first person by the players themselves) that the (steeler) guy ADMITTED he tripped the Bengal player when Ben's knee(s) were hit. Seems to me if the Steeler player ADMITS he tripped the Bengal player (and I think the video also shows enough of it to verify it) then at least THAT 1/2 of the argument (What goes around comes around) needs to be tossed out. I'm not saying Kimo did an (intentional) cheap shot. Whether he intend to do it or NOT, I think the evidence and admission by the Steeler player absolve the first knee incident from the realm of being "cheap shot". I can live with it if they do NOT levy a large fine on Kimo and I can (easily) live with it if the NFL DRILLS him with a huge fine...primarily because it DOES seem as though his arm is (intentionally) WRAPPED around the leg as he's drilling his shoulder into it. I'm willing to belive it was just rotten luck for Palmer and Kimo is 100% clean. He WAS after all, a Bengal himself for something like 5 years (I think) and still has a couple Bengals that I understand he's pals with. I guess no matter what the fans of either side think or other players... it's over & done with. Bad enough it ruined what might have been left for this year.....I just hope it doesn't carry over and hamper the team NEXT year too.
  23. as far as a psudo-name... it's done. My "regular" ebay account wont be used...I created another name "Brutus_Rulz_McIntosh" to block similar scammer who copied pictures of the VERY amp I had just bought (for real) and is now in my posession. I figured he'd have a very hard time giving me ANY hard issues when I could prove posession of the very unit (same serial number) he was selling. I fully expect this listing to be pulled anyway. Just a matter of time.
