not only new to the Klipsch forum, but I'm also new to Klipsch.  I'm a 45-year audiophile who's been into ribbon speakers with subwoofers for the last 25 years, and Martin Logan Electrostatics which I dearly love for the last 3 years.

    Welcome to the Forum!

My takeaway from this is I would really like to see a double blind listening test set up between the three models. As for me personally I must admit I much prefer the more distinct HF of the 3 way model. If I could get a custom 3 way Heritage Jubilee I would be all for it.  Now before anyone throws insults my way or thinks I am speaking from a place of jealousy please keep in mind my wife an I are in the process of selling four homes.

Who would set up the double blind tests of the 3 models? Or even two models - UG and Heritage? Klipsch isn’t going to do it, compare a new speaker to one that is discontinued.

You might be able to set it up with one speaker of each (mono) but it would be pretty much physically impossible to compare DBT in stereo. You have to be able to switch between each speaker in 4 seconds or less to be of any significance in blind testing.

Sorry for my bad english... I have had the Chorus 2 since 1996 and in these years I have tried everything. Now I play them with two absolutely different power amplifiers: a Audion Silver Night set with the 300b (10 + 10 w) and a ZeroZone irs2092, in class D (declared 1000w!) With both they sound wonderful. My opinion is that they are speakers that can sound great or very bad in unpredictable ways... very good with an old Sansui receiver very bad with Audio Research (classic 30 and 60). Bad with the Nad 310, very very good with a OTL Fourier Panthere (300+300)...

    English is great, no worries.

Do you listen to any particular type of music?

I just stumbled upon this post.  My grandfather, Nelson Bell, started the Music Box in the '30's, and my father, Bill Bell, took over and ran it until he closed shop in appx 1995.  Back in the day, on one of his trips to Mass to visit with my dad, PWK flew up from Hope, Arkansas, in his lovely little Beech Bonanza.  I was about 10, and Mr Klipsch took me for a ride and got me hooked on flying.  Between me and my brothers, we have some Music Box memorabilia and memories that might interest you.  Feel free to contact me.

I sent you an email, with a copy to the Museum Curator (who knew of your father quite well. In fact, he may be able to copy some things for you that might be of interest. Thank you so much for reaching out.

  5. Oh, I’m in Texas, went to the ad so I could go out there today to scoop these out from under all of you guys for $500.

They are in El Paso, only 8.5 hours away. With respect to Texas, helps to narrow it down a little.

So, these are still up for grabs for all of you El Paso/New Mexico members.

1- I cannot change the section so a mod would have to step in.

2- I have been on ebay for 27 years and clear-eyed member might realize that this seller is new and doesn't know the worth of what they are selling.I posted this so someone within driving range could show up and do the deal in person. If it were me, I'd show up tell them to keep all the other speakers and explain how by selling them in person to me they could avoid the ebay fees and walk away with a pair of Lascala's for between $800-$1000. But you have to have vision and not be shortsighted.

    I moved it.

I don’t really care how long people have been on eBay, Audiogon, Craigslist, or any other peddler market, Garage Sale is for active members selling their own stuff with a very clear set of terms of service so that it can continue to exist and avoid headaches for Klipsch. Thus, the reasoning (my assumption) the Alerts section was created a long, long time ago, to ALERT forum members about a “smoking deal” they are not affiliated with, or something they have for sale on another platform that they are affiliated with. This avoids any confusion as to whether the poster is associated with the item or not.

Members should not take offense if another member suggests moving a thread to something more appropriate, they typically doing so to help get the thread the most visibility, I.e., achieve the goal of the original poster.

Reminder, if any Forum member realizes they have posted something in the wrong section (or there might be a more appropriate section) you can easily request a moderator to move it for you by:

    1. Reporting the post. Go to 3 dots in upper right, hit report, pick a reason, in explanation, comment section just say, “can you please move this to (name of other section)” and a moderator will take a look and do it.

Most people know the song Nutbush City Limits, and spontaneously get up and dance when it comes on because it was created here

Did not know that. What is a bush dance? Seems like they are dancing fools down under.

Resurrecting this old thread as I'm looking to do some maintenance and possible minor mods on my La Scalas... The orange plot in this picture doesn't seem to match the plot of the reduced volume plot from a few posts above this. Am I missing something?

My plan of action as of now is to check and replace (if necessary) my squawker gaskets, add the bass horn reinforcing triangles, and add either foam or non-porous material to the back chamber. Considering the Eminence Kappa 15c woofer as a later upgrade. AA crossovers have already been rebuilt with good caps.

Hello, welcome to the Forum, please start a new thread regarding maintenance questions and ideas.

Modification/DIY discussions are not appropriate in this Forum and should be posted in Forums associated with those discussions like DIY Audio, or Audio Kharms .

Sorry about the confusion of the call signs.  In this instance,  the contact was with voice (“phone”).   Yes, QSL cards were exchanged and used as proof of contacts with states, provinces, countries, etc.  They were also needed as proof for the abundant awards which existed.  So, if this is your dad’s card which he sent to the ham in Minnesota, how did your dad get it back?

    Maynard

That’s the beauty of this Maynard, when I saw the amateur ham radio post I thought for kicks I would search his call sign W6IYD which normally pulls up publications back then that has all of the call signs in alphabetical order by year and I could see what addresses he listed between the early 40s (you could get tested and licensed during the war but could not operate a ham radio until after VJ Day is was what he told me). So it pulled up several years worth of listings, the search also pulled up that card as a current eBay listing for $9.95.

My dad sent that to a “Jack” in Minnesota in 1950 (with a 1 cent stamp) approximately 70 years ago and it ends up on eBay. Not only does it end up on eBay, it ends up being searchable.

Can someone explain what all of this means on this post card?

    Not difficult to interpret:  W6IYD

W6IYD was my dad, he got his unlimited Class A in high school, I think he was 15. He got his 2nd class radio after he graduated from high school.

He had those cards printed up which I guess was a big thing back in that day because there are 100s on eBay?

I assuming the communication was by Morse code, not voice? These cards were exchanged to verify things like signal strength, the Transmitter power of signal being received?

I am trying to find out how if I need banana jacks, which ones, for new Klipsch R-40 M speakers. I stripped the wires and connected to audio technica 120 turntable then to receiver then twisted the stripped wires around the black and red screws behind the speakers. The speakers sound very scratchy. I am not sure why the sound is so distorted and scratchy. Should I switch the stripped speaker wire and add banana jacks? Can someone please help. I am new to turntable, receivers and speakers.

Welcome to the Forum. First, what receiver do you have and does it have a phono input? It seems like you are saying that you stripped the wires from the turntable to the receiver? I’m assuming that is a mistake, as the turntable outputs should be rca male jacks that need a phono input on your receiver.

if your receiver doesn’t have a phono input that is your problem.

I am the owner of the speakers and, after a few failed attempts at selling them on ebay (got decent offers, but many -including the highest- involved transportation, and that's something i was unwilling to do), I decided to post on a few FB groups.

Welcome to the Forum. You will need to post lots of photos, front, back and inside. The Historian of Klipsch is in this Forum and can answer your questions for certain.
