Travis In Austin

I have a lot of LP's for sale. I recently purchased the last remains of a record store here in Austin (2000 lps). I have a lot of duplicates, extras that I am going to get rid of on ebay. I would rather give forum members first dibs on going through them. Most of these are 70's and 80's rock. They range in condition, most are VG, some are NM. I am driving about 4 hours to look at/purchase two pairs of LaScalas this Saturday. The seller says they have the following S/N's: S/n: 110016 and 110017 s/n:19T208 and 19T211 The "T" I assume means they were made in 1979. The other numbers are giving me problems. Were those compleated on the 11th day of 2000 and were thus speaker No.s 16 and 17. I read the great posts Q-Man and several others left on looking at LaScalas for purchase which will come in quite handy, I just want to be sure the owner in on track with those first S/N's. I mispoke, they are in AZ, which is still possible for my to pick up rather then risk shipping. Dale, I was going to try and get that same pair, but I don't want to be bidding against a fellow forum member. Can you let me know if you are able to find someone to go in with you, or if you are real serious about that particular set. They peaked my interest becasue I can drive to Tulsa to pick them up and don't have to risk having them shipped. Let me know, Travis

This is a dumb question, however, it will probably save me money in the long run so here goes anyway. If you are running 3 LaScalla's upfront, where do you have the TV (I don't have a projector/screen yet. A LaScalla is not shielded in anyway so TV on top of the center (I shudder even thinking about setting a tv on top of one). Any insight into this layout issue would be most appreciated. Travis

There are some K-Horns for sale on ebay right now described as follows: "Serial # 1504 and #1056, signed labels on the back of speakers (see photos). Only a very few nicks in the cabinetry. Grills are near perfect, front and side. Number 1504 appears to be in original condition. Number 1056 appears to have some refinishing on the cabinetry. All coils and wiring have been inspected and replaced where necessary. They are hooked up and sound magnificent. They look incredible and are a rare find. These speakers are very heavy and would be expensive to ship. That is possible if buyer is willing to pay all expenses incurred. Please email me if you have any questions at Ccarr0326@aol.com. I will answer all that I can. They belonged to my late husband and he cherished them. I do not have a room in my current home to accommodate them as they should be used. They can be seen and heard in AUSTIN, TEXAS." I live in Austin so there is not going to be easier way then this to buy some used K-Horns. I have seen some discussion in this forum about the sound of the new K-Horns vs. a nice vintage set. Putting aside for the moment the price difference, I was wondering if someone could comment on the vintage vs. brand new issue. Secondly, I would appreciate anyone's comments on what they thought about the speakers for sale. Thanks in advance

Two or three years ago I bought a Yamaha RXV 1300 (6.1 x 100w) to build my home theater around. At the time is was just out, cost about $1,000, and was "state of the art." Reading through this forum and looking at Yamaha website made me realize that it has been passed up at least 5 times, is now about half the price. It feels like it is almost obsolete. I think the manufacturers have ten years of future "state of the art" technology locked in a vault somewhere and just release it a bit at a time when sales start to dwindle on the last years "state of the art" system.
