  1. American Beauty I appreciated it more the second time than the first time I saw it. What Hollywood seems to think is so great about it is not what makes it good. They seem to think it's a turn the mirror around to suburbia thing, like their little dig at "normal people." That just goes to show you how right Trey and Matt (south park) are about SAG (or in their movie Film Actors Guild.)
  2. sounds like Kill Bill vols.1&2.....but Home Alone, what a shocker! Go for a challenge Ray.
  3. Phoebe Snow is her name. I know, not everybody's cup of tea. I've herd the shahukachi before, very melodic and beautiful Exellent suggestion. Don't worry about the double hit, should you be lucky enough to win, I will throw in the one Klipsch beer coaster I have. Just joshing with ya, as I'm sure you know. That beer coaster would be mighty fine! I'll light a candle to Tyche and keep my fingers crossed.
  4. Is that Arsenic and Old Lace? Ford: "I live my life a quarter mile at a time." Shane: "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
  5. Phoebe who you wretched soul? For the man who gives meagain double spoils, this pirate puts forth a civilized lp. A Bell Ringing in the Empty Sky (Japanese shakuhachi music). The shakuhachi is an end blown vertical flute of bamboo with five finger holes. Meditate on this mofo!
  6. Someone would have guessed this one today if the forum weren't so wonky, but here's a hint: If you have a sense of humor, and like rock and roll, you've probably seen this movie.
  7. I used to as a kid, because as kids we would play all day in the hot Texas summer. We needed it. Now I don't, because I don't feel the need with my more sedentary adult lifestyle.
  8. I see you owned a turntable too. Forgot about the off center hole, hole, hole, good point. How about the poor quality control issues, warped, full of skips right out of the jacket, and poor sound quality. I stopped buying them at $7.98, got ripped off long enough. Don't you miss making tapes on your reel to reel, only to hear the tell tale RUMBLE. Your right I miss that, that, that, pop, tic, that. reel to reel rocks! buy import vinyl.
  9. You're wrong about points and dwell, and corona......
  10. Man! Is it just me or is the forum really slow today? All the other websites pop right up on my cable connection. Anyway, one hint already given, here's more: The name of the song is a place, and the place name is derived from an Italian.....
  11. A Fish Called Wanda? If so, then: It's a fine line between clever, ..and stupid..."
  12. Buddy's challenge is Tumbling Dice --Rolling Stones. This one is for our recent birthday celebration: Laughing on the bus Playing games with the faces She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy I said, be carefull his bow tie is really a camera.
  13. You like the sound of "whining"??? You can call it whining if you like. "A day without a sweet engine whine is like a day without sunshine." See my post in name that tune to discover that I don't really like whining.
  14. Neil Young eh? In the nascar thread I am accused of liking the sound of whining, maybe that is true of F1 cars but....
  15. Yeah there is money in both venues. Different kind of glamour though. I am impressed by both because of the driving talent involved in both. Most innovations that filter down to the average guy have come from F1 historically, sort of like the innovations in sailing trickling down from the America's Cup.
  16. The cars are so cool in F1, I wish they would modify the tracks to allow for more passing. Nascar is somewhat less boring to watch on TV, but the sound of the cars is more boring. Nothing beats the sound of those F1 cars. So I guess I'll have to keep watching both.....
  17. For those fans of the romantic period of classical music: Box set LP's---Tchaikovsky Symphonies No.4,5, and 6. Recorded by the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra on the Deutsche Grammophon label. This is the most precise and best recording I have ever heard of the 4th symphony. Yevgeny Mravinsky conducts.
  18. You are so lucky to have a drive in! We used to take lawn chairs and a cooler and sit in front of the beetle in Pearl City. When it closed down there were no more left on Oahu. Back here in north Texas the closest one is about a 2 hour drive west. "Joe Bob Briggs" used to do drive in movie reviews which were hilarious in the local paper, and always included a "communist alert" when another one was being closed and/or torn town. My wife would set up a drive in just for fun if we had the land and the bucks. You have the most amazing drive in speaker set-up I have ever seen. Enjoy!
  19. It sounds more like he is drumming up publicity to get contracts as a Jordan look-alike.
