All the beautiful old heresys are starting to come out of the woodwork thanks to Scott. Now mine sport the decorator zebra look thanks to Greg. ---------------- hey come on Gary lets see some zebra picutres!

  3. Gilbert you got your eye on everything! If it's the reissue, those went for $4000 in 1997 and and they also had a MC 275 SE in 1997 that went for $5000.00 Those are list prices, I don't know of they were ever discounted or not.

They had the Type C crossovers, but now I replaced them with a pair of modified Type Es. Kudret ---------------- Hey those are great pictures and Heresy's. Thanks for posting, makes for a nice comparison.

The originals from that year should have an orange surround although to see it you'd have to take them out from the back as the grillcloth is stapled. The woofers match as does the cap mod on the C network. Someone must have decided to replace the woofers along the way. Judging from Kudrats pictures, mine definitely don't have the orange surrounds. Still want my decorator zebras? Please don't temp me! I've got Christmas bills coming! Scott ----------------

  8. First off, they are in perfect cosmetic shape. Beautiful, even the original boxes are nice. Couple of interesting things I noticed inside. Taking the back off, no seal nor any sign of there ever being one. Maybe that's the way they made them in 71. Also note it's a Type C network, but the 1.0 cap was changed to a 2.0. Then I noticed the woofer looks like it was changed. Well it doesn't look like anything was ever touched however the woofer has K-22-E ink stamped on it. You experts no more about the history than me but I thought the C network had a .1 cap in there and the woofer was 16 ohms. They sounded ok, I haven't had the chance to really listen to them for more than a few minutes. They sure look cool.
  9. Wow, too late! That was a deal. I'm surprised that seller priced them so low. He sells quite a bit of audio gear.
  10. I don't care who built them, if you're going to have a pair of Klipschorns, be man about it!

How many more failed attempts before they just give it up and wait for the senior tour. ---------------- Unfortunately, I think their contract with their record label requires them to put out another 3 or 4 records.

This the first REM CD that I have ever bought where the lyrics have been published. C. The CD really sucks. ---------------- Oh man that sucks. I used to love R.E.M. in the 80s, gave them the benefit of the doubt in the 90's, but these last 5 to 6 years are proof that they've lost it. And to put out that lame greatest hits album last year seemed like such a sell out. I never like U2 much but their new one sounds like it might be kind of good. Sure doesn't seem like R.E.M. have a good song left in them.
  13. That's hilarious. I'm sure the guy did that for his wife. So they fit right in with the rest of her carefully put together "Cracker Barrel" designer motif.
  14. Thanks Paul, Gary. They should be 1971. I'm a sucker for original boxes.

  16. Twas a bit much but hey, it's only money. Maybe I make too much of it. But come now, when was the last time you saw a sweet pair of Hersey's with grill cloth like that in pristine condition? I work too hard to spend hours refinishing some scratched up old pair. Anyway, I don't buy this stuff to resell it. I'll have these for another 20 years sitting happily in my bedroom. A well spent $50 a year I think! And in the meantime, I might be interested in those Zebrawood's you have there!
  17. Wow, $5.00 is just ridiculous! Congratulations. The bass pots on the 3x will have a capacitor running from them to the linestage board. Your are suppposed to be able to "feel" an indent or click near the 12 o'clock position on the tone control knobs but on the two 3x's I've had, I couldn't ever feel it. That is the position that is supposed to remove the tone controls from the circuit. I removed the tone controls as well as the loudness switch from the PAS's that I use. I think they sound better that way.

My family has now sent 4 packages. It's also a great chance to read about what life is like in Iraq and Afghan directly from the troops themselves. I don't know how they do it but I can't thank them all enough. And thanks to all Veterans for your service.
  20. I wouldn't bother with any CD player made in 1985. Although the Kyocera's had pretty good build quality, it's 1985 when ceedees were still fairly new and the technology still had a way to go.
  21. I used Navis Pack and Ship to ship me a pair of Khorns from Chicago to Ohio about 400 miles one way. They picked them up at the prvious owners house, took them back to their warehouse, built a crate and shipped them via common carrier. Total cost $700.00 They arrived safe and sound, not a scractch on them. I would have perferred trying a moving company but Navis came through with quick price and guarantee so I went with it. http://www.navispackandship.com/
  22. I bought a Monster Power Stip from them a few years ago. The have low, low proces from what I remember. I ordered and it showed up as expected.
