  1. I like bass management in h/k receivers. This is very important for HT. With h/k, you can select different low frequency cut-offs for each pair of speakers. I'm not sure Denon does this... It might force the same frequency for all speakers.
  2. You'll of course need new spokes. I should have said that. As for brakes, I don't think there's a difference (the wheels are interchangeable).
  3. I weight about 200 lbs and ride on sew-ups. No problem with wheel strength. The local bike store sells cheap ones for C$20 or so and they do fine. It would be straightforward to replace one rim or both and switch to tires (keep those campy hubs!), but beware that costs quickly add up when you ask the shop to do the work for you. :-(
  4. Guys, it looks like I missed on two sets of Klipschorns. Do me all a favour and let me know if you see any turn up in the Province of Quebec or close enough to it. :-) Peter

  6. If they both pass, I might take a shot! Delivered to Quebec City would be too good to pass up! (I'm the one in Rimouski, 300 km away) How are you going to get them across the border? Cross in with one pair and back with another... Sounds like an interesting challenge!

They are projecting forward above your head. How that that sound like?

I'll use the Caribou for cyclotourism and the Marinoni for the weekend 60 km ride. ---------------- I'm buying a friend's 2001 Devinci Silverstone in Quebec City next month. My wife will just love me wanting to pick up a pair of KHorns at the same time!
  9. I'm more into Devinci bikes myself (and I have an old Gardin with Columbus SL tubing).
  10. I grew up in Quebec City (my mother and bother still live there), and I'm in Rimouski. But I need to think seriously about the Klipschorns because I'd have to dig into the credit margin for such a large unplanned expense. But I'm thinking about it! Peter
  11. Same here fini. My condolences. Words aren't coming easily just now, but I'm thinking about you too. Peter
  12. Thanks for the inside look! Very interesting! Peter
  13. There's a sure way to find out. Place one of your current CF-2s on its side where you'd put the 3rd one, plugged-in as center, and try it out! I did that with a La Scala to see if it would work and i didn't like the sound when seated at my most off-axis seats. Your mileage may vary; the La Scala has more difference in horizontal vs vertical dispersion and my seats are fairly close. I went with a Heresy as center instead. It's likely that a CF-2 would work wonders for you. It's the best sonic match!
  14. Yes, stay with the RF-7... (Or go Heritage instead! ) It's a wise move; your speakers may be with you for 30 years. Mine have! Don't worry about Watts too much. There's only 3 dB difference 50W and 100W, and one manufacturer's 100W is not equal to another's. h/k are rated very conservatively. Worry more about the ability to drive low ohms (e.g. high current amplifier).
  15. I don't think you will damage the RF-7 but they may sound a little thin. The 1014TX is a nice unit alright but is only rated for 8 ohms; it might have trouble driving the RF-7s. You might consider harman/kardon instead? The AVR-235 is $336.95 at ecost.com. The h/k would have no problem pushing the load and might end up sounding better. Disclaimer: I've never heard the 1014TX, just working from specs here. Peter
  16. Hi, Glad you did check out this website after I mentionned it<1>. And I'm also glad others have seen fit to also recommend Cornwalls. Perhaps someone on the forum lives close to you and would let you audition their Heritage Klipsch setup... <1> http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/1/130886.html Peter Galbraith
  17. Holly Cole has fantastic bass, 'Temptation' in partucular. I'm pretty sure you can order CDs from her web site.
  18. That's what this forum is all about! Good stuff guys!
  19. Thanks guys! When I have some spare time, I'll do this mod! Maybe when I update/upgrade the crossovers this summer.
  20. The openning in the back of my La Scala's is on the small side; it doesn't go the full width of the speaker as I have sometimes seenm in pictures. Should I remove the horns to do this? Will I kill myself trying if I don't? Will it be easy to remove and put back?

No, you have not. He's giving you advice that perhaps the RSW12 is enough; what's wrong with that? I have a Hsu STF-3 (12 inch) in a 11'x30' room and I feel it's enough with La Scala's. So there you go.
  22. Those are nice! Be aware that you will likely want a sub for the low end with La Scala's. However, the sound they do put out sounds great to my hears! I have La Scala's and a HSU STF-3 sub.
  23. I fiinnally pulled the trigger on a pair of '85 La Scalas. Congratulations! 2. I am going to use them as mains in my HT. Thinking of Using Heresys as center and surrounds. Anyone else here use this combo? Space up front is limited, so even though I won't rule out another La Scala as a center down the road - I would like to go the Heresy route. pros / cons? I use a Heresy center and it works out great for me. I have another brand altogether at the rear surrounds but it doesn't bother me at all. It the voice match up front that is more important. 3. I know many here tout tubes as the way to go. Practically speaking, I will be using a SS Surround receiver for a while. Any real problems with this? Thanks in advance. ---------------- Opinions differ. I've never tried tubes and I'm happy with an h/k receiver.
