  1. Huh? I have an AT screen and it doesn't roll off high frequencies... not by more than 1 dB anyway.
  2. He did say the weave was pretty large. Maybe you can't use theater screens up close?

I had one once. Awesome dog. He was like a big lovable bear. Bad dog Carl!
  4. Ah! It's been hovering around 0F here for the last week.

never met a Newfoundlander that I didn't like! Most helpful people possible!
  6. I wouldn't buy drivers unless I had a DIY project suited to their specs. The JBL 3310 surround could be interesting to use as surrounds, but the low end extension limited to 100 Hz is a worry (means a pretty high crossover point) as is its low 89 dB sensitivity. The JBL 4645c is interesting, but you would need to but an amp with built-in EQ or a miniDSP (Usable response to 22 Hz (-10 dB, no EQ), flat to 22 Hz (-3 dB) with External EQ). 3200 W peak handling, and 132 dB peak SPL at 1m would have no problem reaching reference in your HT!!
  7. Yeah, okay, I don't agree but I see. I never understood where this "fast" description came from. Of course an 18-inch driver won't have to move as far to displace as much volume as a 12-inch driver, so driven at the same frequency the 12-inch has to go faster because its excursion is much greater. But I guess you are thinking not of what really happening but a description of what it sounds like it's doing. But lower excursion means less distortion, so I always figure that a bigger driver should lead to less distortion (other things being equal).
  8. You could end up with the biggest baddest HT in Alaska!
  9. You might find 100 KPT-100 speakers!
  10. Great find! Most people I know would be happy with that setup forever.
  11. Two reasons I can think of 1) the room itself is not treated for that. 2) I did not Eq anything above 500Hz... Huh? I thought the green curve was pre-EQ and the purple curve was post-EQ. They sure are different... by about 8 dB at 8KHz. The black line in the left panel looks like a target curve that was met in the right panel.
  12. Exactly. Aren't 2" panel not bass traps at all anyway, and use to absorb higher frequencies (to handle first reflections and echo)? My question, still unanswered, is whether the filled triangular wedges do a better job as bass traps than the 4 (or 6) inch beveled panels that fit snug against a corner leaving an air gap behind them. It appears that air gap is useful, trapping the reflection off the corner wall, whereas the filled wedges don't have an air gap at all.
  13. I use a cheap AVR! I bought a $30 HDMI splitter from monoprice when I got the projector and it works like a charm. I do sub EQ using a miniDSP. But yeah, I guess fancy XT32 room EQ would be nice to try out someday. Maybe on the next one...
  14. Forgot to dust under the RF7ii before the first pic!!
  15. Why all the gain at high frequencies?
  16. About corner bass traps... Are the filled wedges any better than the 4-inch panels that leave an air gap behind them?
  17. 2 inch panels should be fine for echo control.
  18. No sub? That's your upgrade right there!
  19. Acoustic panels and bass traps are essential and are the next step for me. I didn't feel the need before because I spent the last few years without installing a drop ceiling. So the whole ceiling surface was Roxul Safe & Sound batts behind a thin plastic sheet (i.e. a huge acoustic panel). When I put in my dropped ceiling, it had to be painted and I lost all acoustic properties. The room had an echo. It's a little better now that I put my HT seats in, but still not as good as before. As far as bass, my room has always been difficult, with 10+ dB swings in bass frequency response depending on where you sit. I need to put in a bass trap in at least the one available corner and some panels on the few available spots in the room.
  20. hugeroost, with no disrespect to the OP's goal (and let's not make a discussion out of it to hijack the thread), with La Scala you should look into DIY horn-loaded subs for a seemless sound.
