  1. Ah yes, one of my favorites. Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks. Back in the pre-PC days the "side-chicks," Maryann Price & Naomi Eisenberg (who are also 1st rate musicians), were known as the Lickettes. Dan, along with Tom Waits & Nick Gravenites are some of the "local boys" who hang out here in northern CA wine country. James
  2. Wow! Very impressive. I've purchased three pairs of Heresys over the last year or two - all of which are in FAR nicer condition than that pair & I paid $290 (HWO), $340 (HOL), & $350/pr (HBR). That "pie slice" must be worth an extra $200-300.... I guess it pays to shoot the moon & hope for the right sucker. James
  3. Ooops. I see that Ms. Pamela did offer a pair of Belles (which actually turned out to be Cornwalls) for sale in a different (but recent) post. Go get 'em Michael. James
  4. Ah, another satisfied customer. Sweet.... Glad it went to a good home. James
  5. Pay attention Michael. I think you're probably a bit late, the post is over two years old. And no, you can't have them all.... James
  6. Screw their ads. They have no property right in forcing me to view their pop-up spam. I'll boycott any business that blocks Firefox (and I refuse to use anything MicroCrap - and that includes Internet Explorer - as they recommend). James
  7. Locked case for magic cables makes perfect sense to me. Can't have any of the Pixie dust escaping in transit. James
  8. I was driving down one of the main drags in town yesterday & I spotted two police cruisers that had pulled over a newish blue Ford SUV. They had the driver out sitting on the sidewalk & had several boxes of "Kirsch" speakers were also out on the sidewalk. The hatch was open & the back of the Ford was full of "Kirsch" speaker cartons. Don't know what the outcome was, but it seemed like something more than a routine traffic stop. By the way, this was only about three blocks away from Soundscape (our local heritage dealer) where you can get the real thing! James
  9. According to a 1980 price list I found somewhere, list on HBR's was $311 ea, Walnut oil or lacquer were $362, Rosewood, Oak or Cherry lacquer were $475, and Brazilian Rosewood lacquer was $569. James
  10. Don't know - I just followed a link from Jennifer Warnes' site. I haven't seen any reference to a vinyl version other than the off-hand remark in the review. I assumed he was talking about the new release - could be wrong - won't be the first time. James
  11. "Digitally recorded and remastered from the original analog tapes,..." So, no doesn't sound like there's going to be a vinyl release. I read that some of the tracks are reordered. Apparently the original order was set up for the time constraints of the LP. I'll probably get it - eventually - once the price drops. I have a hard time forking over 20 bucks for a CD. Yeah, I know The Last Record Store (I think they used to be at 4th & E), but haven't been in there in a while - tends to lighten the wallet too much. [*-)] James Check that. Apparently there is a LP version. I just found a "Soundstage" review: http://www.soundstage.com/gold07.htm
  12. Due out today. 20th anniversary edition with four new tracks. http://www.shoutfactorystore.com/prod.aspx?pfid=3219001 James
  13. Aguas De Marco (Waters of March) - Antonio Carlos Jobim & Elis Regina from "Elis & Tom." James
  14. A to Z - from Joe Cocker's "COCKER" Bassist: Vito Sanfilippo. Crank your amp up to 11 for this one! James
  15. As you can see from my signature line, I'm partial to B&K. If it makes any difference to you, B&K products are designed, built & serviced in the United States. Rotel is made in China.... James
  16. You can still buy the logo's directly from Klipsch - call the parts department. IIRC they are something less that $3 ea. There are several methods for pulling the dents out of your dust covers. Some have had success using a vacuum cleaner nozzle to suck them out, others use a dab of super glue or clear nail polish on the end of a tooth pick to pull then out, others poke a small hole in them & pull them out with a bent paper clip or dental pick. Or, you can just leave them alone - dust caps have no effect on the sound. James
  17. Years ago when I reported the theft of a high end bicycle, the cop taking the report told me that (in the off chance that they actually recovered the goods) the serial number was of little use because they had no way of connecting the serial number to the owner (assuming they even bothered to look for a serial number). Instead, he suggested etching or engraving your driver's license number on any items likely to "go missing." That way, should the item be recovered, the cops have an easy way to locate the owner. Of course, this complicates things if you sell a piece of used gear 'cause you're also giving away your driver's license number.... James
  18. You'll probably get a better response if you post your question in the ProMedia section.
  19. Sputnik: Cajun bacon? Sure it wasn't Fred? James
  20. I'm partial to B&K amps. There is a B&K ST 125.2 on ebay now with with a "Buy it Now" of $249.99. Super 125 watt/channel amp, made in the USA. I've got 4 of these amps in my system. If I wasn't broke at the moment, I'd pick it up myself. B&K sounds great with Klipsch. http://cgi.ebay.com/B-K-ST-125-2-STEREO-AUDIOPHILE-POWER-AMPLIFIER_W0QQitemZ330145058366QQihZ014QQcategoryZ39783QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem James
  21. Well, that eliminates about half of the local usual suspects. fini: looks like I didn't buy 'em about a half an hour before you didn't buy 'em. What's the opposite of "dibs?" James
  22. By the way, when did "A" become a naughty word. I think the automated nanny needs a spanking. James
  23. Pair of beat up Cornwall Vertical Decorators for $400. No affilation. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/ele/369376939.html James
  24. Sam: As it says on the speakers, they are KG 4's. Typical ebay sale price is about $100 for a pair. Nice speakers, just not much resale value. Keep 'em and enjoy 'em. James
