  1. the RW-12d for $679 & the sub-12 for $450. I like the sub-12 price alot, I just need it to be able to keep up with the 30's some what , which I think both would though. I have heard that the RW-12d can generate some port noise @ high volumes.
  2. Which is better? I will be running with KLF-30's I need a sub to help fill in the lower octives. Thanks
  3. Erik, How do you like those HD 650's??? I need to invest in some headphones
  4. There is a K-30-KN woofer on ebay with a buy it now price of $100.00
  5. I agree! the CF-4's hands down they rock, and have great transparency! BTW I wonder what he got???
  6. Also what are your source electronics? I know from experence, that has the most effect on the overall sound.
  7. Sure why not? My friend has a pair of 82's I think they sound great!
  8. Thanks for the input! I cant wait to hear the CA-6T!
  9. Just placed an order for a pair of these, the price was more than right. These are going on the rear deck of my car and should sound great! I have never heard them though. The specs look about the same as the SA-2's The main qusestion is has anyone had any experence with these?... Over all sound? And what is the peak power handling?
  10. Yes, all the CF-4's have Neo magnets. Sounds like the previous owner replaced the woofers with the Legend series woofers, (like whats in the KLF-30.) They are basicly the same woofers but without the Neos.
  11. Ver. 3......Yes the Epics rock reguardless!
  12. All have 2" drivers except the CF-1 which uses a 1" Phenolic driver
  13. Not blue??? does it light up at all? if so then you will need to get a blue filter for that meter....if not then you will need new bulbs. Mac an Klipsch are always a great match!
  14. Not so much an army gray, but it will have a slight tint of gray to the horns. I hope that helps some what. another way is to see, is to remove a woofer and look to see what color the wiring inside is that the drivers are connected with. Ver.1 & 2 will have clear jacket wiring, while the 3rd ver will have colored jacket wiring.
  15. Congrats on your purchase! Well what color are the horns? Are they gray or black? Black will be ver.3 while gray will be ver.2. I will assume that the ports are 2.5" in length, which both 2nd and 3rd versions will have. The Epics were orginaly designed to sound like an audiophile speaker with the low distorion and effency of a Klipsch. Which the 1st versions have. Then the dealers complained that they didnt have the in your face sound like the other Klipsch speakers of the time. Then came the 2nd versions, The horn level and tuning were rasied, so there went some of the smootheness. Then came the 3rd versions which the woofers were a lighter material, ( the 1st & 2nd ver. have a heavier more dampend woofer, for a smoother crossover from the woof the the horn.) Thats pretty much it in a nut shell. If you really wana dig deeper just do a search here on the forums, under Epic or CF. and that will give you more info on the Epics. They truly are a great speaker, I have the 1st. ver. CF-4's Hope you enjoy your CF-4's as much as I do!

    420

    Its 420 here in Nebraska![]
  17. I think that the 1st version Epics are one of the most underrated Klipsch speakers as well. I would love to here the RF-7's & the RF-83's on my system[]
  18. Just dont over drive them into distorion, thats what kills any speaker. The CF-3's are rated at 1000 watts peak! Get a good clean powerful amp and listen what happens[] How much are you pushing to them now???
  19. Camforu, Welcome to the Madness, & Congrats on your killer purchases! I own the 1st version Cf-4's and I love them. The Epics are a great speaker! Looking at the serial #'s looks like you have the 3rd versions. The difference between the different versions are as follows. 1st version had a heaver damped woofer, smoother x-over design, and 5" ports. 2nd versions, they rasied the tunning, shorter 2.5" ports, rasied the horn level for more of an in your face traditional Klipsch sound. The thrid version have lighter woofers like what the KLF-30's use. The orginal design was to have the signature sound of an audiophile speaker with the effency of a Klipsch, which my CF-4's sound like. I saw that auction on Ebay last week as well, and like you said, they sure looked in great shape! you got a great deal! You can do a search under Epic or CF here on the forums to get a little more info on the epics Have fun with your CF-3's!
  20. Look into the Transparent Audio IC's. Might solve your problem. Good luck!
  21. Never heard any of the pairs, would love to though! I wonder if there will ever be a Forte III??? Good luck on the quest!
  22. I have ran into that same situation reguarding Bose. My grandparents were haveing some problems with their Advent speakers, and they thought about purchasing a new pair of speakers. All of the sudden there came that name... "Well what about Bose?" I then said, "oh no!" I dont think so!
  23. I've got some of that quiet kote as well but I havent used it yet. You say it works great, how much did you use on the horns?
  24. Mr. Wizard, I think you should look into the McIntosh C31V, C712, C15 & C40. The are all great pre amps, I think you would be happy with any of those. Some I listed are on Audiogon. Well worth looking into IMO. Good Luck on the quest!
