  1. That's one way of looking at it. Another way is he took a reciever that didn't work, converted into a functiong amp that's going to be bought at a very low price. It may even go for a little over $100.00. If the tubes test strong they are worth more then that on the used market. true, but he could have left in the parts and simply disconnected the wires associated with the tuner circuit.no need to rip out the if's and tubes to get it to work as an amp.i myself probally would have bought it at that price as a restoration project if everything was intact as it looks like a nice clean example but as it is now i wouldnt bother with it even for just the amp section. chris
  2. That's not an answer for those of us who can't figure it out. Any help appreciated if you read the ad it states that the "FM stage was removed to divert more usable current to the important audio stages" take a look at the following picture and you can see where the if strip for the tuner used to be.restoring this unit would be quite challenging even if you had a junker kicking around.his reasoning for doing this is also lame.if he was that concerned about having more power for the circuits he could have just replaced the power transformer with one that had a higher current rating.all he did in my opinion was ruin which was at one time a nice piece of gear.
  3. thats a shame what they did to it by removing the tuner section.i wouldnt touch it either and would be looking elsewhere.theres still some great deals out there you just have to look. chris
  4. i really don't think that it's too low of an offer in fact i'd have probally offerd much less.it's a truly uhaeard of speaker and quite rare wihch though addd ti its value but like everything else in this hobby its value is placed on what a person is wiiiling to pay for it.i wish you all the luck in aqquiring this piece of hi-fi history and your report on how it sounds should you get it. chris

I have to move out house and in condo by April 15th so need get rid of these very very soon. I am asking $950.00 for pair or best offer made for these. You need big truck to move these because I cannot for you, Thanks you.** Read carefully...doesn't some of the diction used seem to be similar to scammers? "my husband had pair" "I remember he say they only can go in corner of walls" "the speaker were deliver" "never been open" just seems a bit on the "red flag" side for me obviously, I don't know for sure, just a hankering in my gut. ---------------- it's hard to say whats up with that listing.too bad there wasnt a phone # instead of an email adress .has anyone emailed her yet and gotten a reply.it'd be interesting to find out if this is indeed for real or a scam.

I was hoping to use the PS iron out of it on some project, but haven't be able to find the ratings on it. It needs too much other work for me to fix up, and my other hobbies cost enough as is. Last time I moved it I almost killed my back. Marvel ---------------- nice receiver and to top it off a push pull 6v6 power amplifier.i had the sx62a(forget the differences)and enjoyed it very much.i sure wish i would have kept it.i think the only other manufacturer to offer push pull amplifers in theyre receivers was national.take a 12'coaxial hooked up to one of them and the fidelity was incredible.i have also an old natioal hro m with the vernier tuning dial and plug in coils talk about nostalgic. depending on how much work you sx62 needs it'd be a shame to scrap it for the power supply.you could probally find a buyer on ebay who'd bring it back to oprerational status but then agian shipping these boatanchors can be a pain. chris p.s ill see if i can find my manual and let you know the power transformer specs.

Craig ---------------- craig, no im not but i used to do alot of monitoring on the hambands. since this audio bug bit years ago i have not done much shortwave listening or anything like that.i still have a few receivers including a drake r8 and a couple drake 2b's and a couple rca ar88lf's but have long since sold many more including the sx100 that burnt up on me.ill keep that callsign in mind though should i start monitoring again,.thanks, chris

This unit took some time to appreciate, as some poo-poo'd the two-in-one approach. But when that two-in-one sounds like this unit does (especially with Mc tube amps), this unit is still a bargain. And to think these were going for $500 when I joined this forum....... ---------------- i'll have to agree that they're worth every bit of $1000 in the right condition.when i first started looking at getting one they were roughly selling for what you said $500 and prices since have been going up considerably since.if your in the market for one i suggest getting one as soon as you can and dont wait.im now myself going to be on the hunt for a MPI-3 performance indicator to complete the setup.mabe even get a mr55 or 66 for the am. chris

"There's already a mystery bidder involved. The seller told me so.It'll be fun to watch it go...." fun? i always feel depressed having to watch items go that im interested in to someone else.fwiw ive been on the hunt for a mx110 for about 2 yrs and just recently got mine so i know how it is.good luck with the hunt and im sure you'll not regret getting one once you do. chris

Part of the problem is that both site only allow you to do what I would call a "Basic" search in that it will only search ONE of the sub forums on their site. (Unless I'm not in the know on how) Any other ideas on how I can find this guy? Bill I appreciate the tip Fairchild but this guys cabnets don't look so hot to me. (Just not what I'm looking for) I'm going to try Piranha's tip on finding the guy on Audiokarma.com hopefully it will be the man. Thanks again all, Bill Woodward ---------------- hi 126mhz, did you check out my reply to your post on ak.check out that thread all 3 pages and you'll get an idea of the cabinet he (merrylander) built for his fisher 500c.im sure if you have the cabinet dimensions he could build one for you.if you want you can private message him on ak by looking at the far right hand side of the opening page at the top (where it isays welcome" " and click on private message. chris
  18. perhaps this is the link of the person you were thinking of http://webhome.idirect.com/~marcolook/vaud/Cabinets/cabinet1.htm
  19. glad to see that the wait is over and they arrived intact.now the fun begins tube rolling, a-b tests, etc but first just sit back and enjoy them for awhile. chris
  20. oh ya both are going to stay as it took me a long time to get the mc30's and even longer for a mate for the 260.i guess what i meant to say was that im going to have a hard time deciding which to leave hooked up to the mx110 chris
  21. yes a very happy camper indeed.finally not only the mc and marantz gear are getting the high prices.to think people laughed at me the first time i tried to sell the 275 for $1500 with a $900 reserve and didnt get it.although i dont ever intend on selling the 260's i can only see the prices going up on them also.the 260's sound great with the 110 and i'm going to have a hard time deciding between them and the mc30's once i get them recapped.mabe i should just try and find some lascala's for the mc30's chris
