  1. hi all ,although i mostly lurk around here and dont post much i do enjoy reading the technical data and articals and klipsch that gets posted and i download it all. i came across this artical in the first editon of high fidelity and thought id share it with you all in case some have never seen it.enjoy!! chris
  2. thanks for the help with the dimensions guys.ill keep you posted and let you know the outcome after i finish them.they shouldnt be hard to build at all. chris
  3. i was wondering if anyone could supply plans for the risers on the hersey II's?.i want to build a pr for mine and would appreciate it very much if i could get them. chris
  4. see here for some info http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=60364&sessionID={71637D74-CBBC-46DC-AB45-6B461B4EA61C}
  5. They have a new model- The Baron, that uses 12 5881 output tubes that allow for setting some of them for ultralinear and some for triode, at the same time. It is specifically designed as an audiophile amp. I think this is what Dean really needs. You can adjust the feedback levels, etc. Pretty impressive. It's $4k, $5k with KT99 output tubes and between the two for EL34s. fwiw if thats the price theyre selling for then this doesnt seem like too bad of a deal http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39783&item=5746239266&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW not my auction but thought id post it if anyones serious about getting one chris
  6. first the mc60's and now a mr71 nice!!!im sure like others have said you wont regret the tuner.im jealous too .you really need the c22 though to complete the setup .i myself am going the mc30 route with a mx110 that im working on a deal for.its about the only alternative for me to get an all mc setup and besides ill get the preamp and tuner in one package.enjoy the setup as im sure you will chris
  7. way to go gilbert.now you dont have to worry about entering the darkside as you've just entered.those mc60's sure look nice.im sure they'll provide you with many hours of musical enjoyment chris
  8. guys, its only a tuner with a built in preamp.the 2 jacks on the back are for a phono input and the other an output to the amp.hope this helps. chris
  9. if i may throw my .02cents in (worth absolutely nothing in american currency)after all i live in canada.i think that prices have been going through the roof lately on alot of vintage gear be it the solidstate or tube gear.for example ive been following philps gear particulary the hi fi labs gear from the late 70's and although the tuner(673/6731)is well regarded as well as the amp (578/5781)and somewhat go for respectable amounts of coin but the preamp(578/5781)usally went unoticed and could be picked up for pennies on the dollar compared to what the tuner and amp sell for until recently that is .what you could have got for just $150 not too long ago is going to cost you now $350.this is just one example but im sure theres lots out there. as for those mc30's and the fisher gear i feel that auction just got out of hand and those mc 30's for $900 looked pretty good though were more scratched up than rusted)and would have looked good and most importanely sound as good as as the ones with the fisher gear that sold for $3400. not knocking the fisher gear but i think that craig(nos valves)hit the nail on the head on the prices for that gear.for even $2500 you should be able to score a nice pair of mc60's in my opinion anyways. gilbert,i wish you all the luck in getting some mcintosh gear.i myself always lusted after the mcitntosh gear but up until recently never owned any but now i have a pr of mc30's and mate them up with a pr of klipsch heresy II's .fwiw hers another auction for some mc 30's to watch if you interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50593&item=5743923696&rd=1 chris
  10. I had the volume up a bit (to very quiet level) and turned it off... well, unlike my SS stuff, this didn't turn "off" at the flick of the switch, it sort of coasted off and faded away as it died. Not sure if tubes are supposed to do that or not, but that's what happened. Any thoughts? this is normal at least for all my tube amps its just the filter caps bleeding off (or discharging) chris
  11. they're gone now.i would have loved to hit the bin myself but with it being christmas i just didnt have the funds.i guess ill have to do with my single pair for now. chris
  12. oops heres the link.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50597&item=5738218528&rd=1
  13. thught this might be a good deal for someone. not associated whatsoever with the auction. chris
  14. ---------------- Don't get me wrong--the late 1930's RCA 6L6G is a VERY sweet tube, but the MC-30 will eat it up in pretty short order (for a McIntosh amp that is)--a real waste of a nice old tube! The 1614 is as stout as a 6L6GC--I don't have the specs at hand, but I THINK I'm right about this anyway! ---------------- basically the 1614 and 6lgc'c have higher plate voltage ratings than the the basic 6l6 or any of the other iterations of that tube.450volts iirc.the 1614 was origially mostly used as a transmitting tube .fwiw the fairchild 260 also used the 1614's for a claimed 50w output. chris chris
  15. i have no idea as for wihch fishers will fit into your price range but as for the others: scott lt110,lt110b, 350,a,b,c,d or 370 dynaco fm3(probally the cheapest of the brands listed and can be aligned with no special equiptment) although not listed the sherwood 3000v falls within that price range also.good luck with your hunt. chris
  16. hi dc, im sure your going to like that tuner very much and it will go very well with your lk72.i have the exact same tuner and had it paired up with a lk72b.they shure do sound good together.as far as performance goes i have no troubles pulling in some of the weaker stations around my city with it and selectivity is good also.hope you enjoy it. chris
  17. well for my first post here goes nothing. i would like to say that ill have to agree with nos valves for the price he's asking thats one heck of a deal.as a owner of 2 fairchild 260's and a 275 i really dont think that the fairchild gear can be beat.they will hold their own with any marantz,mcintosh or anything you can throw at them.if i had the money id be all over these in an instance.somebodies going to get a nice set of amps thats for sure.regards, chris
