What are you using to power yours? How is their efficiency?

I'm using a FirstWatt J2 to drive the two mid channels and have 2 NCORE Hypex mono blocks, one channel per driver, for the Pure Audio Project proprietary 15" bass speakers. I have no idea about efficiency. I'm sure that can be looked up on-line. They get plenty loud.

Pretty safe bet most speakers/rooms would benefit from a properly set up sub or two. Ported, bass reflex, horn-loaded included.

The Music was not kix d on that kind of Speaker - Decoder ring needed for most of his/her posts (typical)

I'd be willing to bet they have never heard a pair of Pure Audio Project speakers (Kudos for you @CWelsh for giving them a go at AXPONA 2023). Lumping all Open Baffle speakers into the same bin or ones you heard 25 years ago or slapping a couple of spare drivers on a plywood board and calling it a day is about as closeminded as  you can get. Are the white van box speakers from the 70s/80s the same as a Heresy? Remember all the cupped hand over your mouth, megaphone, honking comments from Klipsch bashers 20+ years ago? Same thing....different day.

the speakers that impressed me the most were an open baffle design from Pure Audio Project

I had Khorns for 14+ years with various "improvements" like High-Zoot crossovers, also had Chorus/Heresy/Forte II/Heresy II/La Scala LSI/KG-4/etc.

Once in a very great while I miss the though of my Khorns sweet spot, it passes quickly.

Pure Audio Project is the real deal. You owe it to yourself to give them a listen. I was on the fence with their horn center baffle. I recently passed on a pair on US Audio Mart. Kind of regret it just to see how they might give the "horn thing" along with open baffle. Some day, maybe.

These are with an older set of center baffles/drivers Audio Nirvana. They currently have a set of Voxativ AC-1.6

They work great with HT too! Here you can see the Vox drives (white cones not black)

  3. I have two Eminence Alpha A-15 15" drivers. They are currently in the Open Baffle H-Frames you see below the big Oris horns. Nice but not perfect zebra wood veneer job. The veneer was not cheap and the rest of the materials not to mention my time.

$200 for the pair, you pick up at zip 21154 or make Uship arrangements.

Drivers are currently $145 each at Parts express. They make excellent open baffle projects. PM if you just want the drivers, I'm sure we can work something out.

Probably a long shot but I know there has been discussion of both pins and guitars in the past. After selling the majority of my vinyl collection, Industrial La Scalas and a few other items I'm back on the downsizing mode. Bring a big truck/trailer and strong back and take them all for a great price.

If you play guitar this one is killer. If you just need a cool wall hanger for your music room this will work wonders. Just outside your listening room next to the popcorn machine you absolutely need a pinball machine or two.

USA Gibson Firebird 2016 VT Neck Through design - $2,000 PM for more details and tons of pix

1971 Bally 4 Million B.C. It is in fantastic all original condition right down the original keys/locks and coin mechanisms. I’m just the 2nd owner and it has a very low number of plays on it. Recently all the rubber was replaced and gone over by a professional (JT Amusement) in PA. It is a Zipper Flipper model and fairly collectable. $1,600

The other is a 1972 Space Time. Great 70 Space theme. Fun play. It is fully working. It was gone over by a professional and all the rubber/lights replaced when I bought it in the early 2000s. For that machine I also have a complete populated 2nd playfield. This particular machine (not my actual machine) was featured in scenes on Happy Days. Slight mistake on the prop guys since this was a 1972 model. $1,200

I also have various original pinball stuff dealer sheets, schematics and odds and ends like coin slots, aprons, plastics, etc.

PM for info on pinball machines. I can provide detailed high rez photos if there is any interest

  4. SOLD: Thanks Klipsch Forums

Some hard titles to find here, unless you are willing to pay a small fortune as far as used CDs are concerned. Six titles, 7 CDs in total (Sonny Rollins is a double CD). Full artwork and jewel cases. Cases have scrapes and bumps but nothing major, at leas on has a cut out mark on the spine. Actual CDs are in wonderful shape. Most look unplayed. See pix below for titles and condition.

The Fats Navarro is the Japanese import version, TOCJ-1531, about $30+ alone on ebay

Jutta Hipp is harder to find title

Let me know if you have any questions via PM.

    You ate playing a girl's guitar. ??  🙂

I'd rather play like Joan Jett than Ted Nugent. Google that story if you don't know about it.

Also, it was a reasonably famous "man's" guitar before it was Joan's.

"Jett bought her first Melody Maker from Eric Carmen, following the breakup of the Raspberries"

Guys, who knows where you can buy an inexpensive but high-quality guitar?

I guess inexpensive is a relative term. I have found the Squire guitars I've played and owned by Fender far exceeded my expectations. Especially on the used market (Reverb.com) if you have a week or two to watch.

  7. 15 years old but new to me. Ebony fretboard and a kill switch. Single humbucker wound to Joan's specs. Headstock needs dusting, will happen with new strings.

EDIT: I guess I'm a Tele/Jazzmaster/Strat guy at heart. Still can't warm up to the 3-a-side turners. Maybe that is why the Gibson Firebird is sticking around.

I’m trying to convince myself I don’t need a Gibson acoustic.

You won't find any support for that crazy talk here. N + 1, right? You "need" every guitar ever made.

  9. This one followed me home. Mom, can we keep it? I'm a sucker for block necks over dots. Black binding does not hurt either.

This is a Mexican Fender. A few pages back I was wondering about American vs Mexican vs Squire (China). This completed the trio, with a USA Gibson thrown in somewhere in the mix. Actually two Squires if I'm being honest about the addiction.

I sold the American Telecaster kept the rest. 🤷‍♂️ go figure.

  10. This is a new one for me. The weather is getting much nicer and lots of projects in the backyard. I fired up the Klipsch AW-650s a while back and all seemed good as far as I could remember. This weekend I had a pretty nasty hiss on one channel only. Did not matter if music was playing or not. If the amp was turned on it was hissing. Pretty loud, but did not get louder when turning up the volume. I chalked it up to 10 years or so of the outside elements or my Carver TFM-25 circa 1992 finally giving up the ghost.

Recently I was tidying up my digital library. I've got several 5TB USB drives that I backup my NAS to. It takes a couple of days to move 4+TBs of data and when it was done I left the external drive attached to the NAS for probably a week or more. When I went to collect the drive today I noticed it was not in the front USB port as usual. It was connected to one of the BACK 4 USB ports. The shelf for the NAS was pretty full and the cord for the USB drive short. So the drive ended up on the shelf above. That shelf was for the Carver amp.....and the drive was directly under one set of speaker binding posts.

I disconnected the drive, walked outside and the speaker in question was dead quiet. I guess the spinning drive and/or associated electrical emissions were being picked up by the amp's binding posts. In this case digital way more background noise than vinyl.😁

    I'm pretty clear on "I have a".

    Rep

The line on it is decent

    Not like the Gen

Sorry, no idea what any of that means. Send me the same drugs or the proper Rosetta stone to aid in translation.

Guessing Rep might be Replica or Reproduction but confused as to why both it and Gen are capitalized. Line decent, maybe a typo for "time decent". As in it keeps good time.

I'm sure it all makes sense in your head. Keep the tinfoil on so it doesn't escape.

  12. Drinks on the deck yesterday evening, with the spring sun low in the sky, powered up the Omega's lume. I'd take this over a cell phone any day
