This probably does not help with your specific questions about model numbers. But in my last house where floor standers or bookshelf speakers were not an option I used Klipsch in walls (model escapes me and I don't live there any longer) and was very, very happy with them. I was surprised at how well they worked, all things considered. They were well made, installation was a snap and they were just about invisible. Good Luck

About $4000 for the TGIV pre/pro. Looks like for another grand you get 7 (or is it 5) channels of power all wrapped up into one cool package. I like my SF equipment so much I consider it a deal at twice the price. There was a guy here late last week (Arthurs) http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64782 selling his 5 channel SF amp. Grab that and the TGIV and dont look back. The initial sting of several K is quickly soothed over by your ears and years of enjoyment.

Congrats M, I had a 92 Accord and it was trouble free. A guy I work with just got a 2005 Accord this week and they sure have evolved nicely in the last 10+ years. You will love it. Best of luck!

FYI, I just shipped two heresies. One from Baltimore to N.C. and one form Baltimore to CT. I used UPS and packed the heck out of it...they were a little over 50 pounds each once packed up. They cost aprox 25 dollars each to send to those two locations. I would think CA to Chitown would be a bit more, but it is the initial few miles that cost the most. Longer shipments dont go up linearly as the miles go up. That might at least give you a real world example over ups web site. Dr Who. Next time you are down town hit up The Weiners Circle at Clark and Fullerton and have a Char-cheddar dog with everything for me. Best hot dogs bar none!

First sorry for you problems. Second I know this won't help you...but it might help others in the future. FedEx Ground has almost nothing to do with FedEx. FedEx Ground used to be RPS (Roadway) FedEx bought RPS and renamed it as FedEx ground and painted all the trucks. Sure it is more complicated then that...but that is where FedEx Ground came from in a nutshell. They stink, in my opinion. UPS is more expensive, but if you have a claim UPS WILL pay out. Disclaimer, I worded for UPS for 8 years in the 80s and 90s. I no longer do and have no reason to speak highly of UPS other then I know first hand how hard they try to be the best in customer service. If you pack the box carefully and have pictures to back it up...and the box shows signs of damage in transit UPS will pay the claim. I have shipped 100s of boxes for ebay and other reasons and had one 600 dollar claim on a damaged Academy. I got every penny in insured value and shipping back. Again, sorry for you situation...that really stinks.

9.2 on the WAF, wow you surely are doing something right. Glad to hear you got your Academy. You were correct when you told me the right one was out there. My $0.02 worth on the Heresy refinish. If you are going to make them pretty for the purpose of resale I would go with something exotic like GaryMD's Zebra wood. I have a custom built entertainment system done in Tiger Stripe Maple and it gets tons of comments from visitors. You figure there are still may WO beauties that will pop up on ebay and bring 400-600. If you had a truly unique pair they would easily bring that. Heck, GaryMD's Z.W. ones would have to bring 850-1000 I would think. Then again you would limit yourself out of contention with the buyers looking to match with other speakers. I bet you could get the most $$$ by parting them out. As nasty as that seems it might bring the most cash. Congrats on your current set up. I know the C/A/C up front is a killer sounding HT. Next step two more Quartets to go 7.1???

Check the manual...my Sunfire explictly said if only hooking one up (6.1) then use the left and NOT the right. Don't know why that is, but I did and it works fine.

The 1100 to 1500 ones on agon that are used or demos are all but sold. If I was going to pay aprox 1300 (average price) for used or demo, then buy I a cart, I would think I would be better off with 1700+/- and a totally new set up. I guess I could hold out for a 1K deal...but I am growing impatient.

Yes it has the arm JMW-9. Not too tough to tell I am new at this TT thing, eh? Any TT I had in the past came as an all in one set (TT, Cart. arm, etc). Not looking for the absolute cheapest price by pinging every seller known to man, but as a ball park price is 1700-1750 for a new Scout turntable with Dynavector 10X5 cart reasonable? Anyone else have a better suggestion for a cartridge? If so what is it and why? Do you speak from experience? The reason I ask is I have been kicking around the likes of a new Music Hall MMF-5 or Pro-Ject Xpression-1 in the 400-600 dollar range and am thinking it will just be a matter of 1 year or less and I will have upgrade bug. Thoughts/suggestions welcomed.

Have seen lots of people refer to an amp, preamp, tuner, preamp/tuner, integrated amp, etc as a "receiver"since Sunfire only has one receiver in its lineup I guess I should have inferred that. At any rate you cant go wrong with Sunfire (or Carver) in my mind. Get out the checkbook.

Minn, I realized that, thus my asking him which model(s) Ult. Rec., TGIII, TGIV, etc. Was not sure if he knew the difference. Guess I should have been clearer. In talking to my dealer, my understanding is they share a lot of the same design ideas/components along with simple design and interface. It is the clean looks, simple design and highly intuitiveness (is that a word?) that I really like about my TGIV in addition to the killer sound. If it is within your budget going with separates (amp(s) and pre/pro) you will be doing your self a favor in the long run. I still have the same Carver amp from 1992 but have changed pre/pro 3 times since then. On the other hand if space is at a premium you can't go wrong with a Sunfire receiver IMHO. Give it a listen and let your ears tell you. Good Luck, Rich

Just checked GMC site Yukon XL has 131.6 cu ft cargo space. Like the others said it is not just the capacity...that would only work nicely if you were transporting 131.6 Cu FT of marbles. Watch the quick stops when you are doing that as the marbles will roll forward and spill your beer while you are driving.

Not sure if this will help or not. I have a Yukon XL (Like a Suburban, but GMC not Chevy) Other then the Ford Excursion it is about the biggest SUV out there (go ahead and rag on me about the gas mileage - get tons of utiltiy out of the U in suv). I easily got a pair of Khorns and a pair of Heresy in with the gate closed and all windows up. Only two passengers in the front. The middle seats were folded down and the 3rd row seat was removed. I honesty think I could have gotten another pair of Heresies in there. In my mind 4 heresies would more then equal 2 fortes. The part I don't know is how close a Yukon XL is to a minivan in the shape/configuration of the cargo area. In the same configuration (seats down and out) I can carry 4X8 sheets of plywood or drywall in it with the gate fully closed and nothing sticking out. Can you do this in the van? This might tell you if they are close in capacity. If I want to put something longer then 8 feet like a 10' 2X4 I have to put it between the two front bucket seats. Try driving around in the minivan till you see a Yukon XL or Suburban in a parking lot then pull up next to it and see what you think. My guess is they will fit. However, I am not the one making the drive Good Luck, let us know how the drive was and how the speakers sound.

don't see it as a HT *or* HTPC issue. I would really love to have a HTPC as one of my many components. For casual listening if you rip all your CDs to an uncompressed format like .wav then had a nice, easy, convenient interface to access them through that would be worth the price of a high end computer to me. Now throw in the fact that you can organize all your digital pictures and watch them from your projector on the same 100 inch screen where you watch your DVDs. Oh wait with enough HDD space you can put all your DVDs on this gizmo and access them in seconds rather then going to the cabinet, opening the case and dropping it in the DVD player. Have you ever priced an escient fireball or similar product? http://www.escient.com/products.html That just covers the music end. Now price the same thing for DVDs. All excellent points guys. I do like the TT in the area under the stairs and switch box idea. Having one run of wire to the khorns seems better then my original idea of two separate runs. However, wires from the TT/integrated amp back to the main area concerns me now that the room is finished and I have a doorway to span. This still looks like a great long range goal. NOS what do you suggest for tube set up in your line of thinking. Give me a ball park bankroll I need (several hundred, several thousand, etc.) no firm prices just an idea of what I should be thinking. For the short term, I think moving the amps and x-box is a pretty good idea. That lets me keep my Carver stuff that I am in no rush to dump and free up some spacethey do run cool. If I am looking at a 300-500 TT for starters will it work decent putting it in the actual rack? I should be able to isolate it well enough dont you think? Down the road I might want to upgrade the TT when I make the leap to tube power and stuff it all under the stairs. By moving amps to the closed I am not preventing that from happening down the road. BTW, the x-box gets very little use now that I have a great place to watch movies and listen to music. The stair area does seem like a good place to store LPs as well. Well I have only had an ebay account since 1999 with 100% positive feedback both buying and selling. This might be the right cause to tarnish that perfect record. Oh, I almost forgot about the "lawyer(s)". I better be careful with my jokes or I might find myself in a Fl court. Actually that is pretty scary considering the way the like to fry people down there. I have had a few people ask me about my Heresy Cain/Cane/Kane grills they are original Klipsch, never used, still have extra Velcro circles on them to prevent all Velcro from engaging during shipping. Price has been asked for; I honestly have no idea what they are worth. OK, here is the inside of the equipment closet directly behind the equipment rack. The two shelves that stick out the farthest are my pre/pro and DVD player. Between the back edge of the shelf and the wall with the drywall on it is about 22-24 inches. But if you take that bundle of wires into consideration it is more like 16. The wires might be able to be stuffed in between the two shelves, I dont know. At any rate behind that drywall is the foundation of the house so that wall is pretty sturdy. What are the thoughts and pros/cons of putting a shelf on the wall with drywall, directly behind the equipment shelves and putting the TT on it? You dont get to see the turntable and changing LPs becomes a bit more work. I can obviously lose the garbage bag of wires on top of that blue thing to make more room but the blue thing has to stay where it is. Oh, for you interested folks out there that big blue monster is a pump diaphragm for my well it is full of water. I had to re-plumb and re-wire it to move it from the corner where my right khorn is. Comforting isnt it that in the same closet as all of my equipment is a giant tank full of water. No real option to move it anywhere else as that general area is where my well supply enters the house. The rest of the basement was already finished when I started the music room project. Lets all hope it does not have problems for many, many years H2Guy, Thanks for sharing. I am sure that was a fun "find" at 14. I think about the TT from ceiling option. Steel cables and a way to raise/lower it in the area of my projector would be a thought. Plus I have a way to get wires from the projector area to my equipment.
