  1. 350 for that amp is a steal if it works. But those Jam moments will be questionable 15 to 35 WPC will get you both decent low level listening and plenty of grunt for the Jam moments
  2. Henry is correct, have a look at the caps no leakage and no swelling, bring them up slowly on the variac . I have a couple amps at least that old with no issues (though they have not sat in storage for 15 years) I did find a NOS dynaco st70 MK2 some time ago that sat in storage for 30 years it played fine with no issues I also had a TT that was 35 years old NOS that played fine with no issues,
  3. Build the border wall with them.......................................................😈
  4. Moms Husband. (Stepdad, for a while), (Alcoholic 21 year retired Army Veteran & Horses A$$) "Eat it or Wear it" (One of his nicer ones)
  5. Mom "Go get me a switch"
  6. In discussions with Schiit about upgrading it....................So hanging on to this as well
  7. includes original packing manual etc...
  8. Curosity got the better of me and I bought this DAAC going in knowing I PREFER NOS DACs...............The dozens of glowing reviews did not help my plight. I also got what I thought was a great price on her. This DAC is 4 years old, has the Analog 1 boards with the USB 5 board. It looks and plays fine with barely any signs of use. Simply put I was right I still prefer my NOS DACs So I am going to offer to pass the deal I got along to Members before I post this elsewhere. The DAC is 2500 new and IS eligible for upgrade through SCHIIT. (The GS versions Schiit is selling for 1600 are NOT eligible for upgrade) Established Members can get this for exactly what I paid plus shipping and fees PM for details
  9. Consider yourself in the minority of those that have no curiosity which forces them to seek the next greatest piece of audio.😁 I cant tell you or anyone how much $$$ I might have saved over the years if I had found even 1 component that I felt there was no improving on 😈
  10. I will chime in here as well. As a system matures things change that may or may not be what one considers a GOOD change, and further if your system continues to change you may very well find yourself in repeat mode IE.... component X, Y, or Z that you sold would be perfect for the new configuration For me experimentation is also part of the fun in audio, and selling gear not in use allows me to buy something new (I dont have the space or the $$$ to keep it all)
  11. Pulled 1100 wont buy an amp that sounds as good as these, and I already have a long supply of tubes
  12. Thank you both, Im back to wondering which one, They both seem to have a following Joe
  13. Wanted some feedback from an actual owner user of either of these Pre-amps. I like the fact you can use as passive or tube buffer stage I also like the Remote control feature. Does anyone here use either and care to share ? Joe
  14. Dont go picking on Carl, I rarely get a Compliment🤬 I bought it from the builder he runs a boutique audio shop in eastern NC (Name escapes me) I have had & used it for 12 - 18 months now with ZERO issues. I love the thing. sadly with my current amps I have to much gain (the pre has 12 Db of gain) my speakers are 98 Db effec. I am doing better with no pre and using the PC as a pre as I listen to 99% Digital now
  15. Price for established Forum Members is 1000.00 I have it listed on USaudiomart as well if the pics are a problem here https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649645240-transcendent-sound-300b-masterpiece-pre-amp-headphone-amp-upgraded-caps-and-has-remote-volume/images/2828314/
  16. So I have a Well Temper Armadeous TT set up with the cartridge "Audio Technica AT-VM95EN". A.T. Offers several styles of stylus for the same cartridge body. I am looking for info / opinions on which stylus would offer the best sound QUALITY. one item of note is the Well Temper tone arm has a FIXED headshell position, NO adjustment is available except for azimuth, tracking alignment, and tracking force I have the cart VTF set at 2.0 Gram (suggested is 1.8 to 2.2) Azimuth is level to the eye, and VTA is level to the eye as well I am playing ONLY high quality New or Like New Vinyl with the original stylus I notice some background noise and I am wondering if a different stylus might mitigate that noise The stylus I have now is the Orange Elliptical Nude Options available are: Red Microlinear Nude Green Elliptical Bonded Brown Shibata Nude Blue conical Bonded White conical 78 RPM (I know I dont need & cant use this one) So which would you opt for and if yo can explain why
  17. Big A$$ toroidal Transformer is under the Capacitor board
  18. Pass Clone sounds great but I am sticking with my tubes, No issues price is 800.00 plus the ride and fees (if there are any fees) Paypal accepted for payment Description below is from the builder Matt Roszkowski, He builds and sells a lot of both SS and Tube amps on USAudiomart and Audio Asylum with great feedback "For sale is a recently built First Watt DIY Aleph J clone. Chassis is the 4U 400mm Dissipante chassis from DIY Audio and HiFi-2000. This provides plenty of heatsink for this circuit. The amp is 18 x 17 x 7.5 inches, weight is 37 pounds. The power supply is a mono supply, like the original First Watts. I used Schottky diodes, and they make for a very clean supply. 60,000 uf capacitance per rail. It is a nice quiet and stout supply. Quality parts were used on the DIY Audio signal boards. See the pictures. Wire used is Mil-spec Teflon coated copper wire. There are both xlr and rca inputs. If using the rca inputs, the xlr must have shorting plugs, as supplied, installed. The sound is pure First Watt, with solid bass, nice treble extension." I agree with Matts assessment of the amps performance.....................Thanks for looking amp is located in NC 28351
  19. Contacted the builder. He agrees something wrong electrically under the hood, Advice is "DO NOT POWER BACK ON" Contacted the seller spoke with his tech this morning he said its weird we played it for 1/2 hour prior to shipping etc... Etc... ETC...... But they agreed to accept the return. So I lose Time, Tape, and I bought a bunch of tubes for that amp. Tubes will hold or increase in value so no real loss there. I just dont get to hear it 😑 All packed up and awaiting shipping label for return trip to Houston Texas
