  1. for just a few dollars more than the 400.00 you speak of you can take a huge leap in sound i bought a jolida jd 100 for 700.00 used on a gon and the sound is absolutely great, made a monstrous differance from my top of the line onkyo cdp. i have seen the jolida sell for as little as 500.00 and that is an outright steal, my impressions were the sound was tons warmer (more bearable on the klipsch, no bright at all) the imaging and soundstage also improved a great deal. i did an A, B test and the jolida won hands down Joe
  2. i am looking at upgrading my cart. and am currently using a grado sonata referance, it is my understanding that a lomc will greatly enhance my overall performance and sound, my table is a basis 1400 with a rb 300 arm upgraded with incognito wires i enjoy the sound immensely but as we all know if it can get better im all for that i will be getting an extreme blueberry with lomc sometime near the end of the month(thanks mark) so question is i need opinions on a good match that will improve my sound and i would like to stay below 1000.00 cart can be used in good shape also my music taste stay in the classic rock genre thanks Joe
  3. i have been on pay-pal for over 4 years and sent out over 50,000.00 this does not count what i have taken in which would be about the same amount and after all this time they show no trust in there customers, i changed my bank account and they put a limit on me that was for 2000.00 and that limit was retroactive till day 1 so i was already 49000 over the limit. i called themn up and after 20 minutes of talking to cpu generated people i get guy #1 he says hold please, then comes a woman speaking broken english and trying to talk rings around me that. so i say your telling me i have to add a new bank account to pay with a credit card she says yes. so i cut her short and tell her no i dont have to i can just close my account and i hung up on her and closed the account. this compaany pay-pal and e-bay really shows what it is all about when it comes right down to it they are about the dollar above all else, so i wonder how long they will stay in business???????? "now a disclaimer for the ones that need it THIS IS NOT WHINING THIS IS MAKING A STATEMENT SO THAT OTHERS HERE MAY KNOW THE TYPE COMPANY THEY ARE CONTIMPLATING DOING BUSINESS WITH" Joe
  4. i was using a couple phase linear model 400 amps with klipsch and i thought they sounded very respectable, im sure the flame linear jab will come out but that was a product of people using the amps for commercial use and as instrument amps that they were never intended for. the amp is 200 wpc. and can be had in the 400.00 range in ebay Joe
  5. in my opinion what you are asking is what type table to get for very low $$$$$$$$ so you can just see what the deal is with vinyl. Although you wont really see what it is all about till you are able to listen to a decent setup with record cleaning abilitys (maybe get hooked up with a forum member that has already went headlong into vinyl) i would suggest looking on ebay or audiogon where you can regularly pick up tables under 100.00, there are several what i would call starter tables that deliver nice sound about any THORENS model is decent, and DUAL are also well regarded, but these are belt drive suspension tables and require a little time to get set up right, i would suggest you look for a direct drive table say a DENON, or a PIONEER they can be had around 50 to 75.00 and should give you an idea about vinyl . although again the sound can get tons better with better equipment and cleaning gear Joe
  6. 1975 walnut laq. k-horns, marantz model 125 tuner with walnut case, nakamichi rx 505, teac X1000R reel to reel, jolida ld 100 cdp, basis 1400 tt with rega rb300 upgraded incognito wires and a grado sonata referance cart, a pair of craigs awsome VRD amps, and marks awsome blueberry that will soon be upgraded to the extreme it should stay this way for awhile. "i hope" Joe
  7. woops forgot the price here is 3.19 at the highest so far and 2.76 at the lowest, funny thing these stations are within sight of each other Joe
  8. i agree with colter 100 percent this is price gouging 100 percent, there is no way in hell the pipeline damage from less than 2 days ago has affected pumps nationwide, its a shame that the people in america wont even come togeather over a tragedy like happened in LA., AL., MS. to put a stop to all these oil tycoons gouging and actually hurting the very people that need help the most right now imagine a country where people would come togeather and say enough is enough!!!!!! we are boycotting your gas for 3 days its not like anyones world would end if they refrained from buying gas for 3 days but ill bet any amount that the gas and oil tycoons would stand up and take notice. i mean think about it like this how many million cars are driven in this country every day and how many of those stop for gas i would say it would cost them billions in 3 days, but alas people here are happy with the here and now. "i filled up and yes it was expensive but who cares i still have 20.00 in my pocket, and i get paid tomarrow." problem with the here and now attitude is eventually everything catches up and then the crying starts. Joe
  9. I have kept quite to this point about the dealing I had with joesportster, several months ago, on a trade for a reel to reel. It was a piece of crap! which he described as excellent with very low hours, when in reality it had badly worn heads with thousands of hours use. Of course "it was damaged in shipping" His excuse for not following through with his agreement was he lost his job! Since then I have seen him portray himself as the victim needing sympathy too many times. Grow up and say what you will do and do what you say and live with the choices you make. oh boy another attack well im up for the task of calling a spade a spade here also, first the trade that i might add you offered. you traded me 2 marantz m500 mono blocks and 1 scott lc21 tube pre and you said they were all in excellent shape when in reality the marantz had bad speaker terminals on one and the scott looked as though it had been thru a war the face was bent, scratched, the cover was corroded, aand had permanent marker writing all over it and there was a hum present (dont have to beleive me ask craig as he has it now) only differance is i described it accurately to him. now on to the deck i used the deck myself several times here before i offered to sell it and traded you i packed it and shipped it to you properly a fact that was proven when the insurance paid for the damage. i offered to trade you your CRAP back for the deck but you wanted to come out ahead on the deasl i suggested having it looked at to see what the problem was and it was found by your tech to have been dropped and a board cracked and i paid for the repair(i recooped the $ from the ins as you well know) sounds to me like you are trying to cry as a victim so here we go again in black and white send me the deck with all the accessories you received and i will give you the 700.00. lets not forget about all the tapes and reels included i have since sold the crap i got from you a testament to how good it really was ill bet you still have the deck though!!!!!!!!!! i dont pretend to be a victim on here quite the contrary. i state facts i wont try to control what you or anyone else thinks or writes but if you want to bring up a subject and try to fry someone be sure to include all the facts not just what makes you look like a martyre. fact is you traded off some old crap you had lying around for a deck that you wanted, that deck was damaged in shipping and fact is i paid the repair bill, so what do you have to cry about???????Joe
  10. mark i am very happy with the resolution to the situation, i had no intentions of slamming you here or trying to besmerch your name or gear, you have shown that you are an honerable person and i beleive completely this was a type of oversite i could have spoke with you earlier and i did try to structure a deal with you, but at that time i felt i would just go to deep into a pre at the prices we had discussed i apolagize if you feel i slighted you in any way. Joe`
  11. "You can post whatever you want but your own words here led me to believe you posted this before talking to Mark, if I am wrong I apologize, I am not speaking for you, or any other thing, own what you write dude. He either new the deal before you posted this or he didnt. dont fry me cause you F$%ked up." i see you are one of those that likes to stick there nose in on a subject and after it gets cut off you take offense and answer with ignorance and profanity. and you have the nerve to try to tell others to censor what they write. well fella no one was trying to fry you just returning your comments if you dont like to have rebutal to your comments and can only answer with profanity i suggest you keep your nose in your oun business or be man enough to rebut what is said without profanity that is a condition of this forum that it be kept clean Joe
  12. i have conversed with mark and i will say he is a upstanding guy and is working with me to make this right, another feather in juicy musics cap, i would say no large distributer would work with a customer as mark is with me. and that makes his product's all the more valueable there is no way to set a price on customer satisfaction and mark genuinely knows and shows this in the way he is dealing with me over this after he read my email saying no more or less than said here he immediately emailed me back, with every intention of making his customer happy. so i say now for the record all praise to mark and juicy music for a great product and a great company policy in regards to customer satisfaction Joe
  13. "Joe stated this as well, and he shouldnt have even brought it up given the frenzy of late. ", what frenzy is this that you speak of???????? as far as bringing up something goes, this thread dealt with opinions on the blueberry i gave my opinion, and part of that opinion was of course affected by the price and overall deal made with mark. i felt the need to clarify my opinion and if you read all my remarks you will see i gave mark the benefit of doubt i would be more than happy to have mark reply here or in answer to the email i sent him directly. i dont feel i need you as my mediator or censor. and i certainly dont need your permission to post here whatever my view or opinion. you said i doesnt matter to you why make your remarks???????? Joe
  14. Yes, I'd be HOT too. That 'deal' afterwards is no deal either. Something is wrong with this situation. I'd be interested to hear Mark's side of this story.. i dont think mark is a bad guy i just think he actually doesnt realize how much i actually put into this and he probably never put it togeather that the price drop was so close to when i bought mine, imagine my suprise after i buy mine and then a short time later i go to his web site to find the 500.00 drop on the new blueberry 100.00 more and i could have bought a new one with all the new upgrades instead of the refurbished original model. i would also be interested to hear marks reply's and see if he knew the whole deal or not Joe
  15. have a pair of la-scalas for sale for a fellow forum member, they are here at my house they have the al crossovers and the k 55m mids that are not original, the cabinets need reveneered but that is included enough walnut veneer to cover 2 sets, i am taking offers for him 750.00 or ??????? email me for pics as i dont know how to post them here yet Joe
  16. "Wow. I'd be pissed if I were you. Maybe Mark will upgrade you for a BIG TIME DISCOUNTED PRICE if you ask him "pretty please?" needless to say i wasnt exactly happy, and as i said i approached mark to see what type deal i could get going to an extreme and the deal as he quoted would have been, i paid 1286.00 plus 25.00 shipping plus 340.00 upgraded tubes and walnut case roughly 1600.00, to get the extreme with lomc cream he wanted 1200.00 ontop of my trade that would be near 3000.00 in a pre-amp considerably more than it would cost to just buy it outright????????? Joe
  17. [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] "Something unknown is doing we don't know what." Sir Arthur Eddington, commenting on the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle not sure about that principle in this situation, a small business ran by 1 or 2 individuals would surely know if they were to experiance savings or cost hikes in advance, as you would certainly keep a certain amount of stock on hand for future orders or repairs. Joe
  18. i have to find a new favorite project to put the wallet into and then i wont have any money to upgrade with. do you think this will work?????????Joe
  19. i have had 1 each of all the heritage line and i vote k-horns far and away the best sounding and at the price i paid i think the win hands down (1383.00 for a 1975 walnut pair in very good condition) Joe
  20. i am a long way from a golden ear or critical listener and i have to agree that i find it hard to pick out little nuances in change like rolling tubes etc... i bought the blueberry after hearing garys and except for the fact that the price dropped only 2 weeks after i bought mine(near 500.00 that is alot of depreciation i felt like i just got stung by a used car salesman) ( i couldnt see how some one manufactureing the product wouldnt know of a dramatic price drop comming only 2 weeks down the road, im sure i would know if my prices were dropping and would definately let customers know "ethics 101"), i contimplated upgrading to the extreme but when all was said & done i would have had more in it than if i had bought one outright at full price. i didnt and i still dont think its fair that i took this type of hit on the price so i decided to stick with what i have i cant sell it i would lose way to much money so i call it a keeper. i will say the sound is very good better that the scott i had before this. Joe
  21. Sorry Paul, but he paid for the auction, and he has the absolute right to do as he pleases, and don't forget, it's his money and his speakers. CB, I paid Oklahoma redneck to let me pose with his catch []. you are way off base when it comes to an auction it is a law binding contract that seller is liable for as well as buyers doesnt matter if the seller paid 1000.00 for the ad he is still bound by law to follow thru with the sale according to the way he wrote it, Dirk could take him to court and try to force him to follow thru with the sale but i fear it would be a losing battle even thou the seller infers there is a pair for sale for 1600.00 at no time does it actually say this is a pair (2) speakers for 1600.00, Most lawyers would point this out. I am on dirk's side with this i beleive when you make a deal you stick with it even if it costs you more than expected, to bad more sellers dont practice what they expect when buying. courtesy and ethics are a thing of the past for the most part anymore and i have noticed this more since moving to maryland 6 years ago than anywhere else i have been (i have met some decent people here, but the sorry unethicle discourtious rubes far out weigh the good) Must have something to do with being so close to DC and the political spectrum. Joe
  22. the 14 feet is center to center on the front of the speakers i would say the rear is near 16 feet rear corner to rear corner, glad you are happy with the belles, get me that list of classic rock you are looking for Joe
  23. well after finally figureing out i had the horns wired wrong, i set them up about 14 feet apart on center, one in a good corner the other setting against the wall but not in a corner. And even with this less than perfect setup i have to say these horns really shine. The seperation and overall soundstage is awsome, paired with the vrd,s and blueberry,!!! well lets just say i have achieved audio nirvana. At least as close as i have heard in my life.
  24. contact ebay with the ad and the problem, leave it in there hands and look for another pair of speakers the guy is a con artrist, and probably doesnt even have a pair to sell. count your blessings you havent sent him any money Joe
