  1. I have bought two pair of Chorus I in the past 4 months for $400 each. All it took was a little patience and willingness to drive a couple hours each way to pick them up. So far, i am loving them so if you find some, go for it! Not too sure on the Klf-30s, id guess between 600-800.
  2. Hey, thats mine Thanks for posting this! I posted a few weeks back on the forum and there was little interest so it's just sitting in my extra bedroom. Here's some more info about the speaker if anyone is interested: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/862811.aspx Would really rather not ship it so local pickup would be great!
  3. Thank you both, I should have it in a few days. Cant wait! It says it has DD6.1 and DTS6.1 which i think translates to DD-EX and DTS-ES but i am not positive about that. We'll see. I wanted a decent enough receiver to hold me over until the new HD formats are widely available and affordable. I'll post a review next week in case anyone else has any interest.
  4. I just picked up a Marantz sr6200 used on ebay for what i think to be a really decent price (182 including shipping). Originally these were around $800. It's 105 watts X6. I am seriously hoping that it is an improvement over my 100wpc onkyo. Is it fair for me to expect a noticable difference in sound quality? I am sure hoping so. I figured the Marantz should have better components than the onkyo, which orginally only cost about $200. Hopefully this translates to a better listening experience. I guess even if i dont like it i could resell it and not lose much money. Anyone have any experience with this unit or other Marantz's in this price range? I've got a week or so before it shows up in the mail. Speakers I'm using are Chorus I's Thanks!
  5. Now that i got another pair of chorus , I should really let my klf-10s go. I could use the $ to upgrade my receiver and am out of space in my apartment. The speakers are a little rough, but i am willing to let the price reflect that. The cabinets were coated with candle wax when i bought them, so i sanded them down and primed/painted them black. I've since been told painting them probably isnt the best thing to do, but they came out looking real decent. When in a set up with a mint condition klf-c7 they fit in nicely. Since then ive moved twice and they've gotten scuffed up. When set up in my living room they look fine but if you go up close you can see that they could use another coat. I'll include the primer/paint i used, so to fix this should only cost you for a brush and some patience. They are missing one floor spike. I solved this by putting a book under the rear corner of the speaker. mickey-moused, I know, but it worked fine. You can do the same, or order a spike somewhere for what i imagine would only be a few bucks. One of the grills could use a replacement. It's a little torn and a bit broken. I think i read in one of my posts from a year ago that the grills are $30 from Klipsch. You might want to verify that. These speakers sound amazing and just need a bit of work to be back to nice condition, i am just out of room in my tiny apartment for them, and i dont have a garage where i can refinish them. If I were to do the work id have to wait until it got warmer out. Once all the work is done they are probably $325-350 speakers but as is I will sell them for $225. Looking for a local pick up situation, as they are big and i dont really want to ship them. Anyone in New England interested? Pics up later today hopefully.
  6. Sorry for any confusion, they're all chorus I. I'll take some pics today and post them later. Not sure about shipping the speaker. I'd much rather do a local pickup scenario with someone, but if that doesnt work out I think what i could do is bring it to a shipping center and have them pack it up right. Not sure how much that will cost, but id like to get $225 for the speaker itself, which is exactly half of what i paid for the pair. I think for just above 200 bucks, it's pretty hard to get a better center than a chorus! Thanks for the advice and let me know what you think.
  7. Sorry, that one's sold. I've gotta remove the listing. I had it on here about a month ago with no luck so it went to craigslist (with no luck) and then finally ebay. Best of luck finding one though!
  8. Thanks! I've got a def tech prosub80 which i am going to hook up tomorrow. Thats one complaint i have about the chorii, they're a little lacking in the bass dept, especially for a 15". I also think my onkyo is partly to blame, i bet with some real power they'd be more bassy. The CH are set to large for now, but when i get the sub in there ill have the xover set for 80 or 60hz, depending on which sounds better in this room. Surrounds are a pretty poor match at this point, just using some quintets. When I get a bigger place (hopefully this summer after i get married) then ill move on to some fuller-range surrounds. Not sure which yet, i guess whatever we have room for. rock on.
  9. After about 4 months of checking online every single day, i managed to track down some chori about 2 hours away from home. Now i have what i've been waiting for...3 chorii up front for a perfect timbre match. pretty awesome! Cant understate how great it is to have the exact same speaker across the front. If anyone is in the situation i was in for a while - looking for a single chorus, just let me know. Ive got one just sitting around, not even hooked up. It's oak oil and in great shape. The only thing that i could even speak to is some white dots on the speaker surround. Not sure what they are, but they arent deteriorating the surround or affecting the sound, so i am choosing not to worry about them. They are on the chorus that i am currently using as a center as well. Taking that into consideration, the speaker is probably an 8.5/10. It's pretty sweet. let me know if anyone needs one, i dont want very much for it. Not to make this a classified ad...more to talk about how excited i am to have matching, decent speakers up front. Now all i need is a nice amp, the 100wpc onkyo is just not cutting it!
  10. They dont have any consistency really, you can pass your finger right over them and if your eyes were closed youd never know when you were touching them. I didnt think it was anything to worry about, as there is absolutely no sound degradation, just the slight discoloration. Thanks!
  11. What are the white dots on the speaker surround? is it the early stages of some form of rot? Thanks for any info!
  12. Its actually only $499.00. I thought this was a pretty sweet woot, but alas I dont have the 500 bucks to spare today. Oh well. Because they didnt sell out i am sure they'll put it back up there in a month or two to get rid of the rest of the stock. Maybe ill catch them then
  13. Last year I got a pair of Klf-10s AND $150 worth of garden hose-ish monster cable for $175 - got it from someone who had moved away but had stuff left over in storage from his college days. [Y]
  14. I am using a Chorus I as a center in between some klf-10s. Although the combo is not ideal, it's only temporary until i hunt down a good deal on another pair of Chorii. The chorus as a center is real nice. I have had a C7 and an Academy recently and it just blows them away. The sound on dialogue is real natural sounding - it's almost effortless. I'd recommend it, put it between those fortes []
  15. Thanks for the offer. I am really trying to keep it within a 3 or 4 hour or so drive though, which puts my radius to about NY. My truck gets pretty bad gas mileage. I'll just have to be patient. It's too bad because the same day or so that i picked up mine a few months back there was another pair in mint shape real close to me for $500. By the time i got mine home and listened to them and realizing i had to have MORE, the other pair had been sold. oh well c'est la vie.
  16. How much for just the pair, not the center? I am in seacoast NH, would you prefer to ship them to 03842 or meet somewhere between? Thanks!!
  17. It's too bad too because ill be in Orlando in 2 weeks! You think they'll fit in my carry-on? Thebes - thanks for the offer but i really want to get some Chorii to match exactly. Thanks both of you but i really want to avoid shipping because these are so heavy and a good deal will become a bad deal when shipping costs almost 200 bucks.
  18. Anyone in the northeast have a single or pair of chorus I for sale? I might bid on a horribly beat up pair in philly but i really dont want to make the 7 hour each way drive. Please help me get out of a KLF-Chorus-KLF setup! []
  19. Well I didn't win the auction but I am still thinking about selling the C7. I've been working on 2 different HTs but really it'd be smarter to just finish one first so i think it's time to let the C7 go. Like to get $325 plus shipping from NH. Any interest just let me know.
  20. Neat, never thought of that one. I know they are starting to put power over ethernet wiring so i imagine the cables can handle it.
  21. I have that receiver and power a pair of choruses just fine with it. Although the component inputs are messed up on mine, they are supposed to be high def compatible. I've never heard of the component versus source thing. Maybe he saw the high def compatible and assumed it meant that would work with HDMI, which it cannot. The HD video switching is done via component video. The center and sub will work fine enough, but you'll probably end up wanting to buy another heresy to use as a center. Enjoy!
  22. Hey Jim, Depending on how an ebay auction goes for me i might have a C7 I could part with in the next week or so. Only selling it because I am looking for a better timbre match for my mains. It is in perfect shape. If you're interested just let me know and i'll let you know how the auction turns out for me mid-week. Now no one out bid me!
  23. Never heard these in person - what does everyone think about using one of these as a center with Choruses? I have been wanting a single chorus for a while - almost impossible to find. Is KG series pretty far off?
  24. I once read about those old 427 cobras... 0 to 100 to 0mph in 14 seconds. Unimaginable.
  25. Here's my 67 Pony. Bought her about 5 years ago when I was 18 years old. Lots of fun to putt around town and plenty of power to get myself into trouble if I want []
