  1. This unit would be perfect...almost too nice for a garage. I'll shoot pics in a couple of hours. I leave the office at 3 PM EST...
  2. Good afternoon guys. I seem to have found an outlet for vintage Marantz gear. A month or so ago, I sold a Marantz 2215b on this forum (to woodsman) that I found at a local thrift store. I go back in today and here amongst the other junk clock radios and console TV's is another classic unit. This unit is beautiful. It sounds great. And to top it off, it has the classic silver face and the wood case (most units I have seen have the black case. Other than a small chip out of the wood--which has been reglued, the unit is flawless. Here is a link with all the specs: http://www.classic-audio.com/marantz/2226b.html Don't let the 26 watts per Channel fool you, this unit cranks--These are true watts, not inflated like today's receivers. Pics available--can email them or will post pics later tonight--don't have my digi cam here at the office. First $175 plus shipping takes it home. If no takers here, it is off to ebay. Thanks guys.
  3. Man I wish that I made more money. That unit looks sweet. But alas, my Church Muscian Salary will not allow for a purchase like that....too bad...I bet it sounds sweet.
  4. Check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/One-Klipsh-Klipschorn-Vintage-1954-Floor-Speaker_W0QQitemZ5855217904QQcategoryZ61378QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It says Klipsch, but it is nothing I have ever seen before. It is close to me...would it be worth picking up? Looks like some sort of early subwoofer...
  5. I agree with the previous. What a great movie! I can't wait to hear it at home...My wife wanted to see the movie, and their was only one theater left in town that was playing it. The Star Theater in Holland Michigan. I give the name because the sound was atrocious at best. It sounded like someone shoved a bunch of blankets in front of the center channel speakers. Very muffled dialougue. And then their was the picture. I know that their was a considerable amount of creative camera work, with focus pulling in and out and such, but even when it was supposed to be in focus it wasn't. I kept checking my face to make sure I still had my glasses on. My wife didn't seem to mind, and actually during the movie told me I was full of it when I told her the pic was out of focus. Then when the credits rolled, it was obvious. It was so out of focus, you could barely read the names on the screen. I deserve a so much better experience for 8 dollars a head. We go to the movies very seldom, and experiences like this make me want to stay home even more. I complained to the management via mail, but have not heard anything in return....
  6. Thanks for looking that up Ray! I had no idea that it had that impressive of a layout. I just know it sounds good from across the river...[8-|]
  7. Say it ain't so Bill! You just got those...sorry to hear of your medical bills. I am in Michigan and wish I could be the one two take them off your hands. Your's are Forte 2's right...your ad says just Forte FYI...
  8. $960!!! Man that's a lot of money for Forte's...I hope they are as nice as the guy in the ad claims they are....
  9. I bet this is impressive to hear. Hope I get a chance to hear and see this. I make several trips a summer with my kids to hear the Grand Haven "Musical Fountain" I've seen and heard it so many times is doesn't impress anymore, but the kids love it. That being said, you can hear concert level, orchestral accompaniment with pretty fountains synced to it from across a pretty wide expanse of water. I've never met someone who wasn't impressed at their first viewing of this thing. (The people of Grand Haven get sick of hearing it every night at dusk throughout the summer though....) This summer, at the Coast Guard Festival, the whole thing was in danger of going up in flames. We had a very dry summer here in West Michigan, and the Festival firework show (always very impressive...the only rule for the people putting on the show each year is that it has to be better than last year...) had a few of the fireworks go off too low. The hill that the fountain is on went up like a tinder box. It burned about Ten acres. Fireman got their in quick fashion, and focused most of their energy on preserving the area surrounding the musical fountain. It is truly a land mark. See it if you can...
  10. I too have seen several films at the imax. Last Christmas I took my kids to see Polar Express in IMAX 3D. Wow was that impressive! A total blast...
  11. The way I understand it, and someone here may correct me, but the KG line was Klipsch's entry level line of speakers in the early to mid '90's the same way that the Synergy line is today. I have always enjoyed the sound of the KG line. I have only owned speakers in the .2 line (4.2 and 2.2). The 2.2 is pretty highly regarded as a decent center channel, and the 4.2's have been doing admirably as surrounds with my forte's as of late. As to how the Kg line sounds compared to the Synergy line. Someone else will have to speak to that...
  12. I guarantee he could play "O Holy Night" better than the guy I posted about yesterday....
  13. I saw those earlier tonight. Wow, that's as close to NIB as you can get for some Post heritage Klipsch gear. Somebody from here should ****** these up...
  14. Ok, this is for all of you church goers out there. Even marginal Christians go to Church on Christmas right? Well, as many of you know, when you go to church on Christmas, somebody always has to sing "O Holy Night." This is not a solo for the faint of heart, and IMO I have rarely heard it done well. It is always however, memorable. (Usually because some poor church soprano MURDERED it...) Well, to the point of this post. In my email inbox this morning is a link to an mp3 file (from my sister in Nashville, TN.) This has got to be the worst rendition of the carol ever recorded or performed. I laughed until I cried. Don't give up early on the song. The best is near the end. Have fun and feel free to pass it along... http://www.deathrays.net/audio-jc/holynight.mp3
  15. Thanks again Colter! Here is the quote that got me from that thread.... Because 35 watts/channel as specified by Marantz in the 1970's meant... " The unit can deliver 35 watts into 8 ohms for one hour, from all channels at the same time, with no significant change in distortion, or other specifications, at any time during, or after, the test hour." ...while 100 watts/channel today (for instance, in my JVC surround system) means... " The unit can deliver 100 watts for a fraction of a second, in one channel only, if the other channels aren't running and nothing else high energy has happened to drain the power supply of stored energy in the last few seconds." I giggled when I read that....It seems to be the truth...
  16. That is the truth Colter! I have it hooked up to my KG2.2's in my office today. It is really loud at three clicks up from zero on the dial. I am finally starting to realize what you all preached at me in one of my first posts on this forum...Some of you may remember...I asked why H/k receivers were so underpowered. They aren't...others just overrate theirs... This receiver has an output on the backside that says "FM quadradial output" Anybody have any idea what that is? It is a mono RCA output...
  17. Agreed, Colter. I really love this place. I am not the most knowledgeable Klipschite around here, but always feel welcome. I probably coulda fetched a deal more off this receiver on ebay, but that wasn't why I bought it. It looked lonely amidst the other junk at the "Love's Treasures" thrift store in town. It actually hadn't even made it too the sales floor yet. I always make it a habit to peak my head into the back room when I go to those places. And, there it was, sitting on the counter, ready to be put for sale next to all the broken clock radios and console stereos with crappy turntables... Anyway, I bought it with the express purpose of offering it here. I had no need of it...small house, several kids, to much audio gear already...needed a little xtra cash to cover Christmas for the kids... I knew someone would want it here. Klipsch speakers are perfect for this 15wpc gem...it was a no brainer. Merry Christmas all...
  18. Ok guys, stop fighting over it...lol. Woodsman, Bill asked me to offer it to you. "Thanks for the Forte's and Merry Christmas" he says....I PM'd you again....
  19. Bill, I PM'd you back. You got your PM into me about 2 minutes ahead of woodsman, who also wants the unit. Wow, these were really quick replies...beats ebay anyday...
  20. Hi Guys, I was at my local thrift store this week and came across this near mint Marantz 2215b receiver. It is from the early '70's and quite honestly, it sounds sweet. This thing is ultra clean. I have no need of it this unit and purchased it to sell. All of the lights work, and the gyro-touch-tuner is a pleasure to use...very precise and smooth. The front panel lights up in all blue lights...very retro. If no interest is found here, its off to ebay. First $75 dollars plus shipping takes it home. Click here for some basic info on the unit. Here is a pic of the front side. PM interested.
  21. What I don't understand, is the shortage of units. MS had to know about the demand for this unit. The same thing happened with xb1 and ps2. If you weren't in line hours before the launch, you couldn't get one for months. Do they do this on purpose, or are they really that inept at meeting demand? Its just annoying.....
  22. Wow, that's interesting. I looked at my posting count. At one year and 375 posts, that is exactly what I spent on my Klipsch purchase this year for my KG4.2's and C7...$375 dollars...Things that make you go Hmmm...
