  1. excelllent...your transformation is complete, young Jedi... (Sorry...good to hear of your good fortune and I apologize from my juvenile behavior...took vacation time and caught a cold...been posting on this Forum like I owned it... Bill
  2. Exactly the method I have employed in the past...and it nearly ALWAYS works...in my case, I wanted Heresys (I just didn't know it yet... ) and no dealers around me had any in stock...all I could audition were Reference and of course at BB, the Synergy Series... Bill
  3. "...It's not easy, being green..." sniff, sniff...that's okay Amy...I feel all better now! Bill
  4. That is the weirdest thing! I was trying to say... ...you didn't help either, edwinr! and Amy...where's the love??? I mentioned you too... Bill
  5. good points Formica...I continue to learn! Bill
  6. Well, since I was lured back to the Heritage line by Win...ohhh where are my Synergys ;-)...When's the update...I need Cornwalls and KlipscHorns! Amy, I got my speaker grill...thanks for the help...you too, Win! Bill
  7. ...and as a wise man once said...and I am paraphrasing here..."It is better to remain quiet and be thought the fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." In my ignorance, I didn't realize that I could do that!...Thanks...I have a set of Heresys enroute to me that I thought were Walnut Oil but they look just like your pictures (sized down for Heresys, natch!) so just maybe they might be Walnut Laquer...excellent... Beautiful speakers by the way...strange the over write on the label in red...Thanks for sharing. Bill
  8. On Reference, I have seen sale prices around 20%...that is what I would hold to unless someone posts that it's more... Bill
  9. Oliver...do a search here, look at the condition of the ones mentioned and price your accordingly to your friend...I am selling a pair of MINT KG2s at a severe discount as I have been given great prices on the Heresys I bought (one set from this Forum!)...I wish you were near Chicago cuz if you didn't sell them to your friend at that price, they would be hooked up to my system already! By the way, your pictures didn't post. Bill
  10. I think you will be pleased...glad I could help! Bill
  11. Simply beautiful and stunning...Than ks for sharing! Bill
  12. DirtRider: I got your meaning...you were suprized that you didn't have to pay a "KlipschTax" on the item you needed and were wondering if this could be or if you were still dreaming...I just ordered (and received) a grill for my KLF-C7...I "knew" it would be $100 bux easy with "KlipschTax"...turned out to be $51.85 delivered to my house...I wasn't clickin' my heels but it was certainly better than the "C-Note" easy I had envisioned. Bill
  13. Everyone...this seems to agree with what my head is telling me...I bought these better than what comes with the stuff but not as good as...bluejeanscable, apature, vampyr, etc. so I could connect all the gear I presently have (Outlaw Audio sends you none) and hear it...I had some of the cheapo stuff and not knowing the HiFi cabinet, A/V rack whatever I will end up with, well, I didn't want to spend too much and then do it again if I needed longer interconnects...So that answers it for me, I did okay within the range I was looking at right now and I am sure the "better" stuff (meaning, better jacket, wire, connector, etc.) will be upgraded when I need to. Thanks for your insight! Bill
  14. Griff: I didn't know that and I appreciate your response...Anytime I have gone into RadioShack there has been someone working who seems very knowledgable about electronics and such...this time it was just someone collecting a check...no help with interconnects (at least she didn't try to talk me into Mons*er) I tried BB AR cable but it seemed cheaply made and not badly priced...this RCA brand stuff seemed better made, the spring relief is for some reason comforting to me and so...there was my decision. Thanks for taking the time to reply...anyone else want to chime in, I am ALL ears...(makes me look funny! ) Bill
  15. sorry, don't have the link or know the seller...look very nice, says he is the original owner bought in the 1980's...seems like a great price if you're looking and near CO...recently listed. Bill
  16. I have done the searches here and elsewhere about all the different interconnects (patch cables, connecting wires, etc.) and I fall somewhere to the cheaper end of that arguement...at least for now...I believe the super cheapies you get with some stuff to be too cheap for my ego... ...but I can't see (hear???) spending MANY hundreds of dollars or more on the "good stuff" audio jewelry, boutique wires...er, interconnects. I had read where several people spoke highly about RadioScack Gold interconnects...problem is, when I went to RatShack to get some, they were cleaned out of a lot of it...not much information on the packets themselves (some said double shielded, some did not) and some actually looked different...(the 17 YO girl working in there said, "Yeah, I think that's new.") I left that RadioShack to look for another and stopped by my local Frye's...they had a lot of different cables and I found "RCA" brand "High Performance Digital Cable" along with Philips (Magnavox), Mons*er and others...The RCA brand looked very similar, except for the jacket to the RadioShack Gold (Gold connector and spring relief wrap as well as double shielded...it also LOOKED better (clear PVC jacket with silver colored braided shield, foil shield, dialectric and a pure copper signal conductor...plus side it seemed to be a bit cheaper still than RadioShack Gold (and they had plenty) and also appears to be the same connectors and strain relief spring as RadioShack...possibly an alternative to the RatShack Gold...by the way, the "new" RadioShack Gold loses the spiral wire (spring) relief wrap (even though it is still listed on the rear under the description) and looks very similar to the cheap Mons*er they also sell. Does anyone have any experience with this clear jacketed "RCA" brand cable? Your thoughts would be appreciated...If I feel the need, I had been thinking of getting bluejeanscable or apature wire once I get this HT thing together and set up in my viewing area. wheeeew! Bill
  17. Kevin: not to speak for Amy but I believe she meant that your store is the proper conduit to the company and she already stated they are glad to work with your store...your store SHOULD have contacted Klipsch on your behalf to "fix" the matter...don't think for a minute that your store did you a "favor" by giving you a new sub without expecting Klipsch to make good on the one they took back...I believe (I could be wrong) that had your store actually asked (I mean really asked Klipsch, not just tell you they did) Klipsch for a new sub to "make it right" with a customer, they would have gotten you one sooner. I believe (again, I could be wrong) that you were caught in the middle between Klipsch, who needs to work with the store and not the end customer and the store who needs to work with the customer and Klipsch to get this done...I bet the store was slow to be firm enough with Klipsch (hoping the parts would come in because in the end, they need to re-sell your old sub as used...at least SOMEONE does) in getting you the replacement you deserved after so much time...just my .02 Bill
  18. GOLDDOWN: I have only listened to it at this point in "stereo"...I haven't rearranged my basement listening area to where I want the HT so...it sounds GREAT! I have to say that I used to think that a sub was a band aid for poor speakers...I am 43 and remember the BIG speakers of old...when 15" woofers ruled the earth! anyway...I thought people bought subs to make up for the deficiencies in their mains...why not just buy bigger mains and be done with it, says I? Everyday I can hear the cars go by with the thumpity thump of subs in their cars...Is this the sound of the future? Is this the sound that I crave??? Not me, says I...so I never bought a sub...no one in my family bought a sub and anytime I heard a sub...it was boom, boom, b o o m! Not for me...boy was I hearing the wrong thing. I decide to go HT, I purchased (just this month) an Outlaw Audio 950 processor, 7100 amp and LFM-1 sub...I have Klipsch Heresys for mains...not weak in bass (my opinion) but not Cornwalls either! Anyway, I have been listening to all kinds of music for about 7 days now...bagpipes, classical (you know, strings and stuff! ), soft rock, light rock, hard rock...unplugged, plugged, loud, soft, etc...I have been playing a bit with the controls and because my "late to the party" knowledge of subs is low (mostly what I have learned here or on the Outlaw Forum) I have to say WOW! I am very happy with the sound...it needs more tweeking but that is room dynamics and etc...it compliments my Heresys allowing the Heresys to concentrate on the mid's and hi's... ...I think you will be very pleased! I have been told that this is the same sub you can buy from Hsu...of course I have read that the Outlaws "consulted" Dr. Hsu when building their sub so I believe it to be similar but not the same (hey, the differences could be just in the cabinet)...it is a long throw, downward firing 12 inch woofer, double ported at 325 watts with a BASH thingamajig...black cabinet and smoked glass top at about 60 pounds or so... I am pleased and I am sure you will be too. Hope this helps. Bill
  19. I have a pair of Heresy Birch Raw (HBR) speakers that sound great and seem to work great as well as looking very good as well...they were built in Hope, Arkansas in 1978 and seem to be in as good a condition as when they were built (27 years or thereabouts)...value for the dollar! I have a pair of Heresy Walnut Oiled (HWO) enroute from a Forumite and from the pictures they too appear near as new and should sound just as grand! These were built in 1981 and that too seems to be value for the dollar...especially since the 2 sets of Heresys cost me less than 1 set new. I am selling a pair of KG2s to a buddy of mine who wishes to be Klipschized...he is currently listening to some older Fisher speakers that have just totally disintegrated...I got great deals on my Heresys so I thought I would sell him my KG2s at a great price, bringing him into our world of Klipsch AND passing on the gift given me by some of you...The KG2s are Oak Oil (OO) from 1990 and look and sound as the day they were made. lest you think this is only limited to Klipsch, my first "nice" system is still in use at my sister's house...bought brand new in 1979: Yamaha CA 610II 45wpc Amp Yamaha sumthin or other Tuner Technics direct drive turntable Bose 301s Series II with the moveable paddle (these speakers look good but haven't nearly the looks (or sound) of Klipsch) ...25 years and still goin' strong... My 2nd nice system, still looks great and sounds great...bought in 1990: Nakamichi TA/2(A)50wpc Tuner/Amp (Nakspeak for receiver) Nakamichi CR-1(A) Cassette Deck B&O RX2 Turntable Klipsch KG2s (on the way to their second life) ...almost 15 years and still goin' strong... Yamaha CD player I bought in 1987...JUST now gave up the ghost...it plays but skips and the door now only closes with a little help...I was able to get it to open VIA remote but... ...17 years seems about it for the CD player What does all this mean? For me it meant that I got tired or had to have the "upgrade" before the "stale date" was up on the products with the exception of the Yamaha CD player... I think the Klipsch KG2s were a step up from my Bose 301s...the Heresys are a BIG step up from the KG2s so I see no upgraditis problems there... Did I NEED to go from the Yammy CA-610II to the Nak? Nope...I was helping my big brother get his new system and caught the bug goin' from store to store...How bout the jump to Outlaw Audio 950/7100...I needed to do this to have HT/5.1/7.1 etc. since this IS a step in a different direction from "stereo." I needed to upgrade the CD player because the Yammy just quit...well it's dying slowly! I didn't need to upgrade from my Technics table to the B&O but the B&O was just too neat to pass up on and it cemented the deal for selling off the "old" stuff. As for my Dad's Sherwood S1000 tube mono-amp, 25wpc...1 channel driven and Eico HFT92 tube AM/FM tuner...well...last I heard them run was about 1990...I believe they still work but I lack the knowledge (but I am willing to learn) to get it together...it was still running fine then...the Electrovoice or Utah (I can't remember which) 15" woofer with tweeter attached single speaker in Dad's homemade speaker box died about then but only because a careless person pierced its cone with something...ending its life prematurely after "just" 39 years!... That puts Dad's "Hi-Fi" stuff at almost 50 years and I believe still running...I have to say that listening to music through them in the 60's and 70's and even the 80's "only" 25 watts through that one speaker was LOUD! So, Win...is this the kind of anecdotal type response you were looking for? C'mon people...write something...there are others listening! Bill
  20. "...and for gawd's sakes...tuck up those pajamas!" Bill
  21. "...and just WHAT did you mean by that???" Bill I enjoyed reading of your experience as well...
  22. Win: What about speakers??? How many of us have Klipsch speakers that we bought on the secondary (thirdary???) market that are still going strong? I think many get tired of a certain piece of equipment before it actually wears out...of course technology changes and those that must keep up with that change for changes sake (or to get some really neat, gotta have it, gee gaww) Of course all you tube guys will prove me wrong and if I ever get my Dad's old Sherwood/Eico combo up and running (he boughtit/made it in 1956) I guess you could say that an amplifier/tuner might have some almost 50 year life span...PLUS! Bill
